Kevin2803 Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Motivation is a little low KILL THIS LOVE is a bop
ATRL Moderator kelly-clarkson Posted December 21, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 21, 2019 Like The Way I Do it's amazing!!!!!! One of the best songs of the year
potent Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Trampoline is such a bop, I wish it was getting more love on the countdowns this year considering it basically sounds like a Billie song. I'm So Tired
MusicLoverDude Posted December 22, 2019 Author Posted December 22, 2019 MLD's Best of 2019 60 - 51 60. Kylie Minogue - New York City Kylie Minogue is someone that I've warmed up to a lot the last couple years. This song is pretty cute and it's a nice little bonus track off her greatest hits album she released this year. Although if you ask me, the real Kylie hit this year that made an impact on me was her 1994 hit Confide In Me. I genuinely can't get into her 80s catalog because her vocals do not mesh well with the dated production. That song though...very timeless. Anyways, back to New York City. A harmless bop that peaked right outside the Top 10 on my Zero Charts, and had several weeks in the Top 20 and 30 this past summer. I don't really see myself listening to it after 2019 ends unless I'm in the mood for geography (and pair this up with other city name songs), but still a bop nonetheless. 59. Carly Rae Jepsen - Want You In My Room Carly releasing this year instantly made the year better for me. So not surprisingly, this will be the first of several entries from her. Want You In My Room was personally one of my least favorites on first listen of Dedicated, but it grew on me after the music video release. It's very unique and stands out well production wise. This will probably age gracefully as the years go by. 58. Cardi B - Press Cardi B's limelight had a bit of a malfunction this year. She still got a Top 20 hit out of this song but it didn't make it to 20 weeks on the Hot 100. It's an honest shame because this song has some fierce intensity to it and Cardi's presence is 1,000% felt on this song. It basically felt like the rap equivalent of songs like Look What You Made Me Do or Piece of Me. It deserved better on the charts, even my own. It peaked at #20 on my Zero Charts, and it didn't make it to retirement on my daily countdown. As the year has come to a close, I appreciate this song a lot more. 57. NOTD f. Shy Martin - Keep You Mine NOTD surprisingly can't fail to bring the bops. I Wanna Know was one of them and Keep You Mine is pretty catchy as well. They still have one more entry on the list. 56. Niall Horan - Nice To Meet Ya My relationship with this particular Niall Horan song is a bit bipolar. For one thing, I love that he finally released something a bit more uptempo. But I also forget this song exists most of the time so I end up only playing it when I'm playing my songs currently charting on my daily countdown. The guitar groove is great though and this is by far my favorite single of his. 55. Halsey - Graveyard The Manic era has honestly had a very awkward rollout (more on that later). And I can't say I was into Graveyard at first. I was hoping it would be more edgy and dark like Nightmare, but the mild dark nature I guess works for this too. You can tell Capitol only made this so that Halsey would have somewhat of a radio hit prior to the release of Manic besides Without Me, which they knew would have been recurrent by the time of album release. The chorus is probably the best part of the song. Regardless, Manic will be one of the first albums I am looking forward to in 2020. 54. 5 Seconds of Summer - Teeth Another dark-ish song that I really liked but also would forget to listen to unless I was doing my countdown. The song's replay value isn't as good as Easier's. The guitar was awesome and the verses were good as well, but the chorus is where the replay value died. It doesn't really stick in your head like other songs would. Still a decent song though. 53. NOTD f. Daya - Wanted NOTD's final appearance is with Daya. Daya always sounds better on EDM music than she does on her own work tbh. Don't Let Me Down and Feel Good are some of the better EDM collabs of the decade and Wanted is one of NOTD's catchier songs. Definitely has more replay value than I expected. 52. Kelsea Ballerini - homecoming queen? Kelsea's pop country music has always been hit and miss for me. But this song thankfully was the former. Now...compared to So Am I by Ava Max, this song's high school type of story actually feels more relatable despite that. For one thing, the message of the song is basically to just open your heart and let people see your true self, and that keeping up an image can only hold for so long. That type of message pretty much speaks to me as a 25 year old since I was actually a popular kid in high school (unconvenientally because I was popular because I was myself and didn't care what others thought) and I actually was almost homecoming king myself. But the people in high school didn't see that I struggled with being cyberbullied over my weight, my parent's relationship being non-existant, and that my other personal struggles that would unravel in the 7 years since graduation would pretty much turn my usually happy self into a more depressed shell. That being said, there were other songs released this year that connected with me on topics like that a lot more than homecoming queen. Regardless, it's a good song I recommend listening to and it deserves your attention. 51. Marshmello f. Yungblud & Blackbear - Tongue Tied Marshmello seems to collab with anyone he wants at this rate, but I also think he just simply loves working with alternative acts. Tongue Tied was released last month, but the song is pretty damn good - catchy chorus, and Yungblud and Blackbear flow pretty well with each other. The breakdown could have been better, but I can definitely get behind this song. And while this is Blackbear's only appearance, we still have some Marshmello and Yungblud to look forward to.
ATRL Moderator kelly-clarkson Posted December 22, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 22, 2019 Teeth is cute but I prefer Easier Graveyard is my favorite song Halsey released this year after Nightmare!! Nice To Meet Ya
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 22, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 22, 2019 I didn't like Kylie's new single
JGibson Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Graveyard + homecoming queen? + Tongue Tied + Nice To Meet Ya
potent Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 New York City is okay. As far as 90s Kylie songs go I'm not that familiar but I love Better the Devil You Know. Homecoming Queen
Alldeezy Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Tongue Tied <3 happy to see my boy yungblud up there and new york city is a cute bop
TheWayWeWere Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 I'm Kylie stan, but NYC is just...unbearable Want You In My Room
ARTPØP Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Want You In My Room, Nice To Meet Ya, Graveyard
Remmy Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 #70-61: i'm so tired... Small Talk is too high, Harleys In Hawaii is a bit too low || #60-51: Graveyard is cute. Teeth + WYIMR Nice to Meet Ya is alright, actually my least favorite Niall single. There's just something off about it, was definitely hoping for something better for a lead.
MusicLoverDude Posted December 24, 2019 Author Posted December 24, 2019 MLD's Best of 2019 50 - 41 50. Meghan Trainor f. Lennon Stella & Sasha Sloan - Workin' On It Not sure if this is an official single or a promo single, but either way, screw it, I liked this song enough to chart on my daily countdown and this year-end list. I relate to this a lot, since I was cyberbullied by the gay community as a teen. It's hard for me to accept compliments from other guys because...I've rarely ever gotten them other than for my eyes (and I get that comment more from women). Anyways, this song is very nicely produced and very calm, although it does get a little boring after awhile. Still worth a listen and MUCH better than the songs from last year. 49. Carly Rae Jepsen - No Drug Like Me The b-side to Now That I Found You. This song is perfect for listening to at night in your room when you just need a mellow atmospheric pop song to listen to while you are typing on your computer or reading a book or just scrolling on the internet. Outside of that, there are stronger songs on Dedicate that we will see later. 48. Rita Ora - Only Want You Rita's solo material finally seemed to have an increase in quality the last couple years (aside from the paranoid New Look, which production wise is good and catchy but the lyrics drive me nuts). This song's lyrics seem very well crafted and the instrumental is nice. I guess this song deserved better but oh well. 47. Mark Ronson f. Camila Cabello - Find U Again THIS Camila collaboration was actually listenable. For some reason I actually liked this the most of the Mark Ronson pop collabs. Just very chill and kind of like the desperation of Camila to find this dude's D again. 46. Iggy Azalea - Started NOW we can talk about Iggy's good songs. This song is a nice big F YOU, NEXT song to give to the haters. Pretty underrated like Press to me. A lot of intensity. And a lot of personality. 45. Carly Rae Jepsen - Julien Another Dedicated promo track. This should have gotten the full single treatment as the song is a grower and is a nice Disco pop bop. 44. Zedd & Katy Perry - 365 The hit collab that got away. Honestly, the song is addicting, but nowhere near as catchy as The Middle or Stay. It also didn't help that Zedd AND Katy both looked like crap in the music video. Ain't NOBODY asking for Zedd with that ugly ass long hair. Anyways, decent song that deserved to be a Top 40 hit. 43. P!nk f. Cash Cash - Can We Pretend? Alright so, P!nk's EDM collab is like the only thing from this era I could really get into. It's very much something I could still listen to by her. One of the best instrumentals from the album honestly. 42. Lizzo - Juice The first of three Lizzo appearances (solo). Honestly, any of them were interchangeable as Lizzo's personality shines in all of them. This song is very much me when I'm feeling skanky and my best with my chubby ass self 41. Miley Cyrus - Mother's Daughter Miley will be making two appearances on this countdown, and this is the first of them. It's the standout from She Is Coming and Miley's return to a more urban production works for her with the intensity of her **** the haters attitude. It's a song that is a grower and the intensity is very listenable.
Kevin2803 Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Great list And sorry to read about the cyberbullying. Gays can be the worst sometimes.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 OWY is so good literally pop perfection Mother's Daughter SNAPS probably one of my favorite Miley songs 365
ATRL Moderator kelly-clarkson Posted December 24, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 24, 2019 I love to see Mother's Daughter in a lot of lists this year It's an amazing song!! Only Want You is one of my favorite songs on Phoenix! 365
Remmy Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Can We Pretend is cute & fun but some of the lyrics... Started 365 + Mother's Daughter Julien and Juice Why are you pretending that No Drug Like Me isn't the best from Dedicated AND a career highlight?!? But at least it's top 50
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 24, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 24, 2019 365, Juice, Mother's Daughter
