MLD's Best of 2019

Hi everyone. It's my 11th year on ATRL, and 2019...well...it was a VERY crazy year for me. Constantly moving up and down the west coast this year so I've been all the way from the harbor in Los Angeles to the suburbs of Washington - and motel 6's up and down and what not.

Music this year was pretty good overall - I didn't listen to a lot of albums, so I'll only be showing them as highlights to those I liked. Otherwise I will be doing this:

Top 100 Songs of 2019 + Bubbling Under

Other tidbits will be:

- Favorite youtubers

- Favorite TV shows

- Favorite album tracks (from the albums I listened to - ranked)

Artists Included:

5 Seconds of Summer

Aly & AJ

Ariana Grande

Camila Cabello

Carly Rae Jepsen

Ellie Goulding

Halsey

Katy Perry

Kelly Clarkson

Kesha

Kylie Minogue

Miley Cyrus

Normani

P!nk

Selena Gomez

Taylor Swift

and more. I will also be in the other section counting down my favorite songs (among other things) of the decade so be sure to look out for that.

Looking forward to sharing my lists with everyone! :duca:

WORST SONGS OF 2019

We will be starting off with my Worst songs of 2019 list. I actually didn't hate a lot of music this year. There are some songs I was for the most part able to avoid like Old Town Road and Someone You Loved because I wasn't listening to the radio a lot this year. And neither of those songs are that bad in the long run. There was a good handful of songs though that I have enough bad opinions about that still managed to stick to my memory to make my list this year. So here we go.

20. Sabrina Carpenter - Pushing 20

Sabrina unfortunately makes this list again this year. I've learned that her music is very hit and miss. This song is just as anti-climactic as Almost Love was and the song is just boring and bland. You will still see Sabrina in my Best of however.

19. Iggy Azalea - Sally Walker

Iggy's music this year was for the most part pretty good, but this song just wasn't it. The nursery rhyme chorus is the only memorable part about it and the song is just a bland rip-off of Money by Cardi B.

18. Dean Lewis - Be Alright

Alright so, I'm not a big fan of British male ballads. They all just blend together like Great Value Vanilla ice cream from Walmart. Between this and Someone You Loved, the latter at least is a little more interesting even though it's still bland.

17. Camilla Cabello - Living Proof

Boring and bland song off of Romance. Doesn't exactly make me excited for the album.

16. Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho

I can't remember if this was on my Worst of last year. I tried my hardest to give this song a chance, but I just can't get into it. My biggest issue is the production. The song has very interesting lyrics but the production is too minimal and bare for it. It sucks you out of the song. There's a mashup of this with Bad Romance, Look What You Made Me Do and Please Don't Leave Me on Youtube, and Sweet But Psycho sounded a MILLION times better with the BR and LWYMMD instrumentals, while Bad Romance sounded like **** with the Sweet But Psycho instrumental. I don't ever see myself liking the song with the garbage production it got.

15. Justin Bieber f. DAN + SHAY - 10,000 Hours

Yeah, no. Scooter Braun is a genius when it comes to promoting his mainstream acts, but I could have done without this. DAN + SHAY have like one decent song and the others are super boring. And Bieber has been very boring lately too. So yeah, very bland song that goes nowhere.

14. Khalid - Talk

Khalid's own material is so damn boring compared to his hundreds of collaborations. And this is the epitome of it. And what's worse is that it got the KIIS FM power radio rotation for awhile. Bleh. Yeah, this one got on my nerves a bit.

13. Lil Baby & Gunna - Hot Hot Hot

A rapper that needs to use autotune for his verses and another boring piece of **** rapper always together somehow. This is no different from their other garbage.

12. Travis Scott - Highest In the Room

Boring song, and this dude will do anything to get a #1. Like, dude, your song ain't even in the Top 10 still...bitch you ain't even NEAR Being the highest in the room. Sit down bitch. Sit down.

11. Charlie Puth - Mother

Charlie's music really took a dump in quality this year. And the fact that THIS is getting the single push is bad. So creepy and no, I don't need to be reminded about what my Mother would think about ****ing you if I was.

10. YNW Melly & Kanye West - Mixed Personalities

A person that needs to be in a prison collaborating with a person that needs to be in the insane asylum. Yeah...this was not going to be a good song from the get go and I was right.

9. Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - Senorita

A closeted gay and a pop girl desperate for a hit collaborating again plus doing an obnoxious PR relationship - all for this bad and boring hit song. Shawn and Camila combined have better material solo (mostly)

8. Maroon 5 - Memories

The cockroach of pop. I'll save my lashings for my Worst of the Decade list on the other section. But bottom line, SKIP THIS on the radio and you will thank me later. Boring piece of cow vomit.

7. Ellie Goulding & Juice Wrld - Hate Me

Oh my god. The absolute desperation for both of these artists to get a hit. Ellie hooking up with this damn loser who can't keep a girl....Ellie...you know better.

6. Ava Max - So Am I

The last pop song to make this list and it deserves it's slot. So, let's take everything I said about the Sweet But Psycho instrumental, and just go ahead and copy the instrumental to a new song, and then add an unrelateable message to it. And voila, you get this. I'm almost 26 years old. This song is catering to HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. And Ava is my age (allegedly, since she is a pathological liar when it comes to her age). If she wanted to do a relateable song, she needed something WAY More universal than just high school. The reason songs like ****in' Perfect, Firework, We R Who We R and Born this Way did well was because they were all universal to people of all ages. Ava Max tried to recreate them but made it Kidz Bop instead of universal pop.

5. Juice Wrld - Robbery

Lmao at this idiot trying to sing about how his heart was broken by some girl. Yeah...you can't sing buddy. Bye

4. DaBaby - Vibez

I didn't realize how obnoxious and arrogant this dude sounded until I played SongPop and kept hearing him come up on Playlists. every damn line is possible is bragging and arrogance.

3. DaBaby - Suge

Same as 4, but worse.

2. JuiceWrld & Youngboy NeverBroke Again - Bandit

Two idiots, one of them with the potential to be a mass shooter based on the lyrics of a lot of his songs, teaming up, and with a song title that paints both of them in a bad way. Yeah, no thanks. Garbage song again.

1. YNW Melly - Murder On My Mind

Thank god this song came and went very quickly on the Hot 100. It only spent 20 weeks on the chart and considering he is in jail for murder charges, this dude imitates "art" to a T. Except...this ain't art. It's just plain disgusting garbage and we don't need another person bragging about wanting to kill people. Him and YoungBoy NeverBroke Again are toxic as **** when it comes to that. Anyways, get locked up bitch!

Bubbling Under for my Top Singles will be coming up next. Stay tuned.

I agree 100% with your worst list in regards to the rap songs. It really disturbs me that the US masses ADORE "artists" like "DaBaby" and "Lil Baby" and "Gunna" like it's just not music to me. It's noise. I guess you could say the same thing for basic pop music, however, at least there's melody and real singing involved. Idk, I try to appreciate all musical taste, but people who like that "trap" sh*t just confuse me. It's so frustrating seeing this b.s. dominate the charts all the time.

Sweet But Psycho, Hate Me, and Be Alright are all bops for me tho :weeps:

Iggy's music this year .. :doc:

I actually liked the song. And even if I disliked it, it still wouldn't make the list.

Dababy talent but I agree with the rest

Kiii all of these are fair :-* I kinda like Pushing 20 and Sweet But Psycho but they're quite basic. Senorita on the list :clap3:

Pushing 20 is great though? And SBP is pop perfection :biblio: Camila's songs here are fine too, Señorita is a good song whereas Living Proof was an... interesting single choice but it's not bad per se. I'll give you So Am I though, kii @ the lashings :fan:

I agree with all of them except Talk. I like Be Alright too although I can see why it’s here.

I didn’t really pay enough attention to those rappers songs to hate on them though.

I actually disagree with you on Talk!

The Cartoon 5 drag was my favorite... COCKROACHES!
