Cellophane deserves (how do you move the youtube video to the side.... need to stealing for my song list xx) so what i did was like, make a word doc with a 1x2 table, then make it so that you can't see the lines after writing some random **** on it. then copy and paste it into atrl and start editing with videos or photos on one side and any text I want on the other. does that... make sense? 7 hours ago, bestfiction said: Holy ****, your videos picks Glad he's gone, Noir, So Hot (Door > though), Con Altura, Doin' Time are all very good Ever Again and White Mercedes are questionable though I get the criticism for White Mercedes... Ever Again though???? Ma'am...
Lazuli Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 what is white mercedes doing here ugh cellophane is really voty aint it
Sbbmsve Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Cellophane collectively being our number 1 mv, it's what she deserves. Yeule, Solange and Yves
Remmy Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 SHYHMF is nice. The simple, cute choreography alone tugs at my wig a bit. Doin' Time I've never watched Ever Again, maybe I should get on that. Glad He's Gone deserved way higher oh wow oh wow! Ready to see the rest of these lists
popstar Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 So many iconic things! Cellophane, Con Altura, Glad He's Gone, Doin't Time
prézli Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 That The Chemical Brothers video is uglee imo. The rest is good. But why is SOON-TO-BE-GRAMMIED Glad He's Gone so low?
TRF. Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 STREAM #20. Earl Sweatshirt Feet of Clay Genre: Abstract Hip Hop, Experimental Hip Hop Label: Tan Cressida || Country: USA Feet of Clay is one of Earl Sweatshirt's shortest releases to date, and it does sound and feel like a slight extension to 2018's Some Rap Songs. But it definitely feels like its own thing, not only theme-wise even more mature and introspective, even weirder and more beautiful. Highlights: "MTOMB", "El Toro Combo Meal" (feat. Mavi), "Tisk Tisk/Cookies" You'll like it if you like: Some Rap Songs, MIKE, Lucki STREAM #19. Squid Town Centre Genre: Art Punk Label: Speedy Wunderground || Country: UK Producer Dan Carey's Speedy Wunderground label was the one to help breakthrough 2019's hot band black midi. But the label has an arsenal of interesting, edgy bands - such as Squid, who in their second EP Town Centre, develop a unique midpoint between dance-punk and post-rock. Highlights: "Match Bet", "The Cleaner" You'll like it if you like: black midi, Talk Talk, Talking Heads, ESG STREAM/BUY #18. TNGHT II Genre: Trap EDM, Wonky Label: LuckyMe/Warp || Country: UK/Canada TNGHT, the project of Hudson Mohawke and Lunice, was very quiet after their iconic 2012 EP, with each producer continuing to work on their own. But their second EP II shows they still got bangers under their sleeve, while taking inspiration from current experimental club music. Highlights: "Serpent", "Dollaz", "First Body", "Gimme Summn" You'll like it if you like: their debut EP, Amnesia Scanner, Evian Christ STREAM/BUY #17. Ydegirl notes19 Genre: Art Pop, Indie Pop Label: Escho || Country: Denmark After contributing one of the highlights to the 2018 Posh Isolation compilation I Could Go Anywhere..., Danish musician Ydegirl continues her exploration of experimental indie pop with her debut EP notes19, which balances weirdness and emotion in a heavenly way. Highlights: "Amber", "I Need This", "Lovely Snipe" (feat. Yangze & CTM) You'll like it if you like: Circuit Des Yeux, Nilüfer Yanya, Soho Rezanejad STREAM/BUY #16. Kero Kero Bonito Civilisation I Genre: Synthpop Label: Polyvinyl || Country: UK/Japan After the indie rock experimentation of 2018's Time 'n' Place, Kero Kero Bonito are back to hyperactive electronic-pop on the 3-track Civilisation I. But instead of the kawaii-ish lyrics and melodies, they extend their new introspective approach to it, and it's quite beautiful. Highlights: "Battle Lines", "The River" You'll like it if you like: both their albums equally, The Postal Service STREAM/BUY #15. Aggromance Turbera Genre: Deconstructed Club, Latin Electronic Label: HiedraH || Country: Argentina The debut EP by Argentinian producer Diego Luna under the name Aggromance is easily one of the most unique club records of the year. Turbera takes as much from gabber, trance or techno as from cumbia villera or reggaeton, and does so fantastically. Highlights: "Almadura", "Un desierto", "Las heridas", "Ruta azul" You'll like it if you like: Tayhana, Rabit, Lorenzo Senni, Debit STREAM/BUY #14. Guerilla Toss What Would the Odd Do? Genre: Dance-Punk, Neo-Psychedelia Label: NNA || Country: USA What Would the Odd Do? comes two years after Guerilla Toss frontwoman Kassie Carlson had to undergo open-heart surgery after suffering from opioid addiction. The record is inspired by her recovery, and it is as personal as it is punk, psychedelic, joyful and fun. Highlights: "Plants", "Moth Like Me", "Land Where Money's Nightmare Lives" You'll like it if you like: LCD Soundsystem, XTC, U.S. Girls STREAM/BUY #13. Jasper Lotti XOskeleton Genre: Alternative R&B, UK Bass Label: self-released || Country: USA Jasper Lotti is a singer, songwriter and producer who calls her music "dystopian pop". While that might be too much of a pretentious title, it does make sense with XOskeleton. This EP has such a poppy structure and catchy melodies, yet dark lyrics, and very unique production. Highlights: "Ur So Vague", "Bad Juju", "Take U There" You'll like it if you like: Abra, Lyzza, early Charli XCX STREAM/BUY #12. Florentino Ilimitado Genre: Latin Electronic, UK Bass, Reggaeton Label: Mixpak || Country: Colombia On last year's Fragmentos, Colombian-British producer Florentino showed his talents with experimental reggaeton. But on his newest EP Ilimitado, he truly goes hard by collaborating with many artists from Latin America and Spain on banger-after-banger-after-banger. Highlights: "Na Fuga" (feat. MC Bin Laden & MC Buzzz), "Látigo", "Catástrofe" (feat. Isabella Lovestory) You'll like it if you like: Kelman Duran, Bad Gyal, Tomasa Del Real STREAM #11. Bree Runway Be Runway Genre: UK Hip Hop, Pop Rap, Contemporary R&B Label: Virgin EMI || Country: UK London singer and rapper Bree Runway's debut EP Be Runway is pop-rap done right. It is catchy and trendy, it has throwbacks to 00's pop or R&B, but it's also quite experimental, futuristic. It shows Bree as a star in the making, one everyone should take notice of right now! Highlights: "2ON", "X2C", "All Night" You'll like it if you like: Charli XCX, Missy Elliott, Shygirl, Normani
Eeveelution Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 KKB's EP was pretty good, The River is one of their best songs.
theblackestday Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Be Runway being the highest EP here :deserves:
SLIME Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I really, really liked the Earl joint. now TNGHT and KKB, I only heard singles from and need to catch up on
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 9, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted December 9, 2019 hated feet of clay civilisation I, be runway talent tho. I see a few I need to listening to
TheWayWeWere Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Bree making another list I need to give her another try
K$Ellie Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 KKB's albums were quite good, I should check out the EP Feel Special should be on the EP list but
TRF. Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 STREAM/BUY #10. SASSY 009 KILL SASSY 009 Genre: Electropop, Outsider House Label: Luft || Country: Norway Two of the three members of Norwegian electronic-pop group SASSY 009 left sometime since the release of their 2017 EP Do You Mind? and 2019, leaving Sunniva Lindgård on her own. Although this would have been a good reason to end the project altogether, she decided to go even harder. Every track on KILL SASSY 009 has its own sound, managing to be abrasive and ethereal at the same time. The best SASSY 009 project, which projects an even more exciting future for it. Highlights: "Okay", "Thrasher", "Maybe in the Summer", "MK3" You'll like it if you like: Inga Copeland, Jessy Lanza, Smerz STREAM #09. Ms. Nina Perreando por fuera, llorando por dentro Genre: Reggaeton Label: Mad Decent || Country: Argentina Perreando por fuera, llorando por dentro, the debut release by Córdoba singer Ms. Nina, is reggaeton that is closer to the original, raunchier style than the more mainstream style of people like J Balvin or Karol G. And it doesn't really promise the sadness the title might suggest, instead, this mixtape/EP is nine tracks of pure, genuine dumb fun, with an excellent production to match Nina's exhilarating personality. Highlights: "Resaca", "Gata fina", "Ms. Pinga", "El consejo", "Piscina" You'll like it if you like: Bad Gyal, Ivy Queen, Las Culisueltas STREAM #08. Andy Stott It Should Be Us Genre: Dub Techno Label: Modern Love || Country: UK Technically It Should Be Us by Andy Stott is not an EP, but a double EP. Which technically makes it an album-length project. He dropped this while promising for an album in 2020, but honestly, it is just as good as any of his actual albums, alternating seamlessly from slow, menacing techno to dreamy upbeat house music from track to track. It is a pleasure to hear. Highlights: "It Should Be Us", "Take", "0L9", "Ballroom" You'll like it if you like: Huerco S., Prince of Denmark, Objekt STREAM/BUY #07. Slikback & Hyph11e Slip B Genre: Deconstructed Club, Power Noise Label: SVBKVLT/Hakuna Malala || Country: Kenya/China Prolific Kenyan producer Fredrick Mwaura Njau released a bunch of EPs this year, and while all of them were great, Slip B probably stands out the most from the bunch. Slip B is a collaboration with Chinese producer Hyph11e, and it's the kind of avant-garde club music that instead of being overly-cerebral and inaccessible, still is extremely fun to listen to, despite - or because of? - its abrasiveness. They truly bring the best off each other. Highlights: "Ishu", "Shimian", "Uzingizi" You'll like it if you like: Amnesia Scanner, Jlin, Sega Bodega STREAM/BUY #06. Charlotte Adigéry Zandoli Genre: Synthpop, Art Pop Label: DEEWEE || Country: France The French-born, Belgian Caribbean singer Charlotte Adigéry took influence from Martinique's traditional gwo ka music for the lead single of the Zandoli EP, "Paténipat", a dark, thumping tech-house banger. But the rest of the EP is rather poppy, mixing 80's synths with more experimental sounds and structures, every track delivers on its own way. Highlights: "Paténipat", "Cursed and Cussed", "Okashi" You'll like it if you like: Kelly Lee Owens, Santigold, The Knife STREAM #05. Lim Kim Generasian Genre: Deconstructed Club, Experimental Hip Hop Label: self-released || Country: South Korea Lim Kim used to be a big K-pop star, with her 2015 single "Awoo" being one of the biggest on the genre that year. But after leaving her label, she decided to do things a little bit different by going independent and working with one half of Korean rap duo XXX on new music. The result is Generasian, an abrasive, chaotic, political record that is a middle finger to the beauty standards and expectations of both the Korean and the Western mainstream. Highlights: "민족요 (Entrance)", "Digital Khan", "Yo-Soul", " 민족요 (Exit)" You'll like it if you like: Arca, XXX (Korean rap duo), M.I.A., FKA twigs STREAM/BUY #04. Kilo Kish REDUX Genre: Electropop, Alternative R&B Label: Blacksmith || Country: USA With every release, Kilo Kish seems to get further and further away from the styles of her earlier material. If last year's Mothe EP was already miles way from it, REDUX is almost worlds apart, with production taken from the most colorful electropop out there, but her delivery and lyrics are as good as you can expect from her. Yes I know it came out like 5 days ago, but it truly is that good. Highlights: "Both Sides", "Spark", "Nice Out" You'll like it if you like: Abra, Robyn, Georgia, Zola Jesus STREAM/BUY #03. Ana Roxanne ~~~ Genre: Ambient Label: Leaving || Country: USA Filipino-American musician Ana Roxanne made the ~~~ EP (don't ask me how it's pronounced) back in 2015, but has only seen a proper release this year. And I'm so glad it did, it is one of the most wonderful ambient projects I've heard this decade. New-age like synths, heavy textures, recordings of familiar sounds from family gatherings to footsteps fill this record with an enormous beauty that unravels itself with each listen. Highlights: "Immortality", "Slowness", "Nocturne", "I'm Every Sparkly Woman" You'll like it if you like: Alice Coltrane's new age works, Grouper STREAM/BUY #02. Malibu One Life Genre: Ambient Label: UNO || Country: France Malibu had one of the highlights on PAN's legendary mono no aware compilation. "Held" was a beautiful track that bridged the gap between dream pop, ambient music and ASMR. One Life, her proper debut EP under this moniker, is not like that. The focus is primarly on ambient, with her voice only popping up on a few moments, but tracks like "Camargue" or "Tilting on Windmills" still is as appealing and emotionally affecting as "Held", and presence of strings on some tracks pushing it even further. Highlights: "Nana (Like a Star Made for Me)", "Tilting on Windmills", "Camargue", "One Life" You'll like it if you like: Juliana Barwick, Grouper, Oliver Coates, A Winged Victory for the Sullen STREAM #01. Koffee Rapture Genre: Dancehall, Reggae Label: Columbia || Country: Jamaica This year I went to London for the first time, and one of my favorite memories was listening to tracks from this EP being played everywhere I went - to a store, on the radio, through passing cars, on the street. Although dancehall has gone global, with everyone from big popstars to rising artists taking on the genre all the time, Koffee's Rapture EP is proof of its heart still remaining in Jamaica. Rapture doesn't reject the tradition of dancehall or reggae, but still has a modern aesthetic and sound. It's as enjoyable and fun music can possibly get, and she deserves every bit of success. Highlights: "Rapture", "Toast", "Throne", "Raggamuffin" You'll like it if you like: Popcaan, Chronixx, Rihanna
