Hi_im_new Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 Kanye setting trends a decade+ into his career. Chance's album will be the next one.
jezebelvictoria Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 For some reason, I thought you could buy the CD off his site.
Ramos Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 It wasn't completely streaming only though. Some of it's "sales" came from the single sales, right?
Domination Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 Just now, jezebelvictoria said: For some reason, I thought you could buy the CD off his site. You could buy the MP3s off his site. It literally made like 1 sale a week through that medium. I guess it's not streaming only lol. Drake coming for the true record.
Domination Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 LOL. It def ain't streaming only https://music.kanyewest.com/
RoyalT Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 Fake record, I'm pretty sure that Anti received a platinum certification for streaming alone and I'm positive there are others. The album being streaming only is pointless (it's actually even less impressive, as it's the only way you could consume it anyway).

ATRL Moderator Samson Posted April 4, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted April 4, 2017 weren't fade and famous put on itunes? would that not contribute to the album's total units, since the RIAA counts TEA and SEA
Duca Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 (edited) Kanye West scores his seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as his latest release, The Life of Pablo, arrives atop the list. The set earning 94,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 7, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 28,000 were in pure album sales. people not buying it =/= streaming-only Edited April 4, 2017 by Duca
Ramos Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 The intern that wrote that tweet doesn't know the tea it seems.

Steve Jobs Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 Yeah, not completely streaming-only. I guess 40-50k is pure and TEA. Still great though
Aciid Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 Still good that he managed to get a platinum cert regardless without physicals or a full album release on iTunes
brianc33710 Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 I'm not so sure this is that great of an accomplishment. And I'm not just saying this because of my personal dislike of Kanye. If an album is going Platinum with SEA and TEA, I'd want it to at least go Gold based upon raw sales. Uptown Special went Platinum almost entirely based on UF's amazing chart run, though at least US had enough sales to finish in the Album Sales YE Top 200 (albeit barely). I think the ideal proportion for albums is half sales and half SEA & TEA.

Not to mention it wasn't added to Spotify/Apple Music until two months after it's release and the Tidal streams weren't reported.
