The BVMI has very silently changed the thresholds for music certifications in Germany.

 

All releases past June 30th 2023 will be certified according to the following thresholds:

 

Albums

Gold - 75,000 units (-25,000 units)

Platinum - 150,000 units (-50,000 units)

Diamond - 750,000 units (=)

 

Singles

Gold - 300,000 units (+100,000 units)

Platinum - 600,000 units (+200,000 units)

Diamond - 1,500,000 units (+500,000 units)

 

Releases before June 30th 2023 will be certified according to the old standards, as usual in Germany.

I think it's directly related to her tax evasion scandals because a prestigious German newspaper was the one leading the investigative report into the Paradise Papers, revealing to the public that she evaded them. Whenever her name is brought up in any kind of news on TV here, the tax evasion is ALWAYS brought up, even on totally unrelated topics as a non-sequitor.
