Fair point. Still though... Need it to pick back up. I guess once it gets more radio play.

How the hell is Drake doing it? This is insane. I'm not pressed, just really curious. It's either 1) he's the biggest male artist in US or 2) the Hot 100 ain't accurately representing the most popular songs for the week

And heavily favouring streaming in the formula when all formats have not adapted streaming isn't distortion?

plus top songs have over 150 listeners via radio each week, top stressing songs get 40 million. Yet streaming is again heavily favoured.  And before anyway says it, not all streams are on demand, just like w radio people click streams off.

The hypocrisy and stanning for streaming because your artist is a streamer, on this issue kills me every time.

what do you mean by the words in bold tho... i don't get your argument.

yes not all streams are on-damand, non on-demand streams are weighed less than on-demand streams.

and no i'm not defending an artist... :rip: i don't participate in stan wars :rip: it's rude to assume so

Ed's 10th week at #1 - 168 points

Lmao how is adding streams to the Hot 100 formula ruining the sinking ship that was the industry just a couple of years ago? It is PIRACY that's been wrecking it through the past decade. Streaming is, if anything, its life raft.

The US and Canada are the only countries that factor in radio in their charts btw. Sweden and Norway are doing just fine with their streaming-only charts.

Well only the US/Canada has the radio penetration level it has. There's a reason there are thousands of music stations. They aren't nonprofits. They exist as a business because people listen to music on them.

of course other countries don't use radio  when day don't have a radio industry per se.  A station or five doesn't make an industry.

the main issue with the current charts is that they are useless to the industry,  sitting in my office, I can easily find out what songs were streamed, played on the air or bought,  what I need is a widely accepted, as in by the general public, chart that reflects what they want. One that builds up hits and then they move on in a reasonable time.  Charts that show and teach the public what hits are and how they react. Opchsrts thet work to build up hits and not show some current spike.  Right now the charts don't serve any purpose to the industry.

We're in 2017. Everything moves FAST and the charts should reflect that imo.

We're not in the 70s, when people had to settle with what their local station programmer thought was 'in.' Thanks to the internet people are able to pick and choose what they want to listen to and for how long. Some songs stick around longer, some songs burn out fast. Some songs take months to become hits, some songs go viral and top the charts in a matter of days.

That's life in the 21st century. :cm:

Wait what? Are there really an unsual high number of radio stations in the US? Compared to population and other countries?

Rofl.  The charts are doing anything but moving fast, they are the most stagnant that they have been in history.  I don't just mean the topo Ft the charts, but every single region is dead stale music that isn't representative of the hits that ere out there,  but instead a mishmash of hits and dead tracks that will never be singles, confusing the landscape and the consumer of what is a hit and what is not.

and that's extremely important to have. The GP depends greatly on being shown what is a hit  what's growing and how fast. Or what's dying,  there's a reason Songs are bought, and it isn't just for the music.  People saw it was number one and bought it, milling the charts with tracks confuses them and makes marketing of the real singles far too complicated to get the GP attention of them through the noise.

im not opposed to s Hot 100 style chart. However the industry is in desperate need of an official hits chart, so thet bi the industry and the GP can use that dats to know not to proceed against the hits completion.

Really? I literally don't know anybody who cares about the charts. :toofunny3:

I thought chart-obsessed bandwagoners were an endemic species of ATRL.

http://www.newsgeneration.com/broadcast-resources/number-of-stations-by-format/

theres a a contemporary hit station for about every one million people in the US. Due to the Canada population spread out, it's even fewer in Canada, probably about 3-500000.

ese percentages of station per population aren't matched anywhere near close in the world.

my city of 60000 people has two hits stations, 1 ac, 1 classic hits, 1 country, 1 news, 1 active rock, 1 campus/community. 2 religion. 2 special languages. 1 blues. And I know I'm missing something.

Um. That's the US and Canada.

And what about other countries for comparison? I don't know if that's a lot or not. I have absolutely no idea how many my country Germany has.

But if you say it is. Seems very weird to me.
