This doesn't look bad, tbh. I'd rather watch this than The Voice or American Idol, where everyone knows how to sing but fewer know how to pick up a pen. I firmly believe that's why most (and every, in the Voice's case) AI artists flop coming out of the gate. Sure, they can sing, but can they write themselves a hit? I will be watching. Always interested in the behind the scenes of making a song.

How does Songland work and what are the rules?

Songland is the first songwriting-focused reality competition series since Bravo's Platinum Hit with Kara DioGuardi, giving insight to the creative process behind your favorite songs. Each episode features five songwriters performing their original songs for three top musical producers, as well as a major recording artist. These critics will take multiple elements into consideration—such as a song's lyrics, arrangements, beats, melody, and story—as they try to adapt the song to fit the style of the recording artist appearing that week.

Then, the recording artist will choose three songwriters to pair with a producer best suited for them in the studio, hoping for a hit they'll fall in love with. As we mentioned, the winning song will be recorded by the A-list musician and released as their next single.

Who’s on the songwriting panel

Songland’s panel features the following producers and songwriters: Ryan Tedder, lead singer of OneRepublic and a producer for artists such as Adele, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift; Ester Dean, who starred in Pitch Perfect and produced music for Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj; and Shane McAnally, producer of 38 number-one country records, including Kacey Musgraves’s “Space Cowboy.”

Oh, and what about the celebrity musicians?

Songland will feature some of the biggest names in music. The follow musicians are featured in the trailer, and again will release new music created by the contestants.

  • The Jonas Brothers
  • John Legend
  • Meghan Trainor
  • Macklemore
  • Charlie Puth
  • Kelsea Ballerini
  • will.i.am
  • OneRepublic
  • Aloe Blacc
  • Old Dominion
  • Leona Lewis

You mean the coaches or contestants?

John Legend who is the current Voice’s coach is here, and Adam Levine is the producer. Charlie Puth and Kelsea Ballerini were battle mentors in the most recent season.

NBC only has that many celebs tbh. :skull:

I can't wait.

Netflix's Westside was pretty good too.

Technically a writing camp with high-budget music videos, songs with big-name cowriters/producers, and a final club showcase.

There's also a Canadian show called The Launch with a similar premise.
