Yvess Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 TABS GRAND FINALE: THE FINAL SHOWDOWN ENTRIES @EriKills / Team @Element Soul Train Music Awards Performance In her powerful Soul Train performance, Tinashe effortlessly intertwines her various talents into one cohesive and unforgettable display. Not once in this performance does she sacrifice one talent for another. Tinashe is at the top of her game from all angles and each aspect of her talent elevates the others. Throughout the performance, we witness incredible VOCALS at the beginning, followed by back-to-back dance breaks, the black out visuals, and her commanding stage presence that never falters (especially during 2 On). Tinashe displays an incredible fusion of talents that very few artists could ever synchronize during a live performance. There are zero steps missed, no out-of-breath vocals, and the viewers' attention is never released from Tinashe. All eyes are drawn to her. She had four minutes to make an impact here, and she used every single second .....only a TALENTED LEGEND!!! Cold Sweat From her acclaimed debut album Aquarius (80 on Metacritic, multiple Best Of 2014 year end lists including Pitchfork, Billboard, Rolling Stone, etc.) comes album highlight and fan fave: Cold Sweat. Ranked #2 on the ATRL Tinashe Discography Rate, it is clear that the Little Tinachos love "Cold Sweat". Critics have also provided rave reviews for this sleek and dynamic track. Billboard comments on the incredible range that Tinashe presents: "In these five minutes, you realize just how versatile Tinashe's vocal instrument can be, as she shifts from breathy purrs to falsetto to nonchalant rapping before vaulting back to upper registers." FACT Magazine provides further acclaim on the dramatic world Tinashe creates throughout the song, stating: “Cold Sweat” builds tension gloriously and coasts through breathy choruses reminiscent of Janet or Aaliyah, pulling back where others might go hard." This historical context is critical for understanding Tinashe's place in the modern world of R&B. Vocally, she is in a tier with those regarded as masters of their craft. This incredibly effective mixture of light and dark moments takes the listener on a journey where every note can pervade the soul. Tension builds and drops, providing both excitement and release. Listen carefully to the vocal acrobatics as they transport you to another universe. It is truly a haunting and beautiful mid-tempo. We luv acclaim Ecstacy Music Video Ecstasy effortlessly captures Tinashe's BEAUTY, as the alluring water setting complements Tinashe's fluid, mermaid-like dance moves throughout. The stunning colors and lighting throughout the video provide an aesthetic that enhances her gorgeous movements. This particular music video, created before her breakout debut album Aquarius, shows how Tinashe does not have to rely on expensive wardrobes or a high budget video to capture her BEAUTY. There is a beauty in simplicity and a beauty in raw humanity -- some might call it spiritual. This video focuses right on Tinashe. She does not have anywhere to hide here, and her beauty is effortless and unforgettable. Ultimately, this video inspires those watching to embrace themselves and their natural beauty. Beauty is confidence, and having TABS means that you can inspire others to embrace their unique personal beauty, ultimately leading them to live with conviction and self-assurance. Tinashe is a perfect role model for this. Her beauty shines inside and out in this video (and so many others), thus enkindling that light and confidence in her fans as well. All Hands On Deck Live Performance This performance of All Hands On Deck perfectly captures who Tinashe is as an artist from various different perspectives. She provides vocals, performs an urban/pop BOP, and of course, brings out effortless dance moves that not once affect her singing. Some highlights: showcasing her backup dancer in the beginning (T values her dancers a LOT -- a humble queen building confidence in all of those around her and sharing the spotlight), cool dance moves like the dominos (2:00), vocals during the entire bridge (2:24), and the powerful dance break (at 2:47). The raw energy, passion, and talent that she showcases in just ONE performance is remarkable! Many artists these days are afraid to provide a spectacle, but Tinashe is able to create one without any hesitation -- the TABS is bursting within her and manifests on stage in an incredibly entertaining way. She puts in the work and dedication to make these performances fantastic. This video vividly demonstrates some of the strongest qualities that Tinashe possesses, both as a performer and a person. As she continues growing and evolving as an artist, can't you just imagine all of the iconic moments she will deliver in the future?
Yvess Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 TABS GRAND FINALE: THE FINAL SHOWDOWN ENTRIES @KatyCatPH / Team @Sabbath Talent: Acclaim: SOTY and ROTY nominated song and one of the 200 best songs of the 2010s by Pitchfork Beauty: Success: I give you a sold-out concert performance from one of the biggest stadiums in Americuuuuh
Yvess Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 TABS GRAND FINALE: THE FINAL SHOWDOWN ENTRIES @Invisibility / Team @Sabbath For my final entry, I've decided to go out with a bang and show the TABS Panel a Madonna as complete as possible through the lens of four fated letters we now overuse as an everyday ATRL term. So for this, my picks include one song/performance from each decade the Queen of Pop has graced us. Without further ado, here they are: TALENT - 90's Many may perhaps consider a blatantly lip-synced awards performance a poor choice for a "best of" that's meant to showcase my artist at her absolute best. And to them I say: they're wrong. Madonna, eternal avid defender of everything involving queer culture, gave us a graceful mix of camp, choreo, maximum stage presence and a concept that some people will still copy to this very day for a cute thinkpiece or two, all while wearing clothes that existed on the times of @PinkBox's childhood. She's royalty and she knows it. She's provocative and a little vulgar. She's risky and boundary-pushing. She has no f*cks left to give. And for that, this performance shows all the talent a woman of her caliber possesses to, simply put, do that. ACCLAIM - 00's The single that relaunched her career to unsuspected heights after American Life's fluke. One of her biggest singles, #1 in every relevant country in the world and the most successful US Dance song of the decade. It's perhaps the best example on how to gain back the GP and the critics in recent memory, which led to the massively successful Confessions on a Dance Floor, too. It appeared as the 7th best single in the Pazz & Jop 2005 list, and it won the rate for the top singles of this publication in the second half of the decade on ATRL. It's one of Madonna's most celebrated singles, and for good measure, as no one who's heard it can say that it's a bad song at all. BEAUTY - 10's In 2015, Madge shut everyone up by releasing a video with gorgeous aesthetics and a preoccupation with storytelling. She gives us post apocalyptic sorceress, complete with fires, radioactive autumn season and nighttime setting. She looked snatched too! SUCCESS - 80's Perfectly encapsulated the type of artist Madonna wanted to become moving into the next decade: her support of AIDS victims and other causes atop, her involvement in her career at a high and nothing left to prove as the world's biggest pop star
Yvess Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 TABS GRAND FINALE: THE FINAL SHOWDOWN ENTRIES @Touch It / Team @Speezy Talent Acclaim From critical acclaim to love from the GP, Crazy in Love is definitely one of the most acclaimed songs of all times. Rolling Stone recently named this song the #1 best song of the century (so far) and to this day the song still doesn't feel old to anybody even though it came out 16 years ago. Beauty Success (Start off at 5:43 because I couldn't find any videos less than 10 mins including all these songs being performed ) Over the past few years, Beyoncé truly showed that her brand was empowering black Americans, especially females. Being the first black woman to EVER headline Coachella, Beyoncé truly put all her thought and work into making this performance, a performance of black representation and empowerment. She spent eight months rehearsing for this coachella performance and had a hand in every single part of the performance, staying true to herself. After CIL, she performs freedom, an anthem for black women. Throughout the song she empowers African Americans to break free of the bonds society places on them. She then goes on to sing "Lift Every Voice and Sing" which spoke to the history of the dark journey of African Americans. This song first originated at a segregated school in 1900, where a group of 500 children celebrated the birthday of Abraham Lincoln. This song is many times cited as the "African American national anthem". After singing this she then goes onto sing the black power anthem, Formation. Performing all these of these songs while being surrounded by a black marching band is simply powerful and it shows how she successfully showed the kind of artist she wants to be known for.
