Yvess Posted September 17, 2019 Author Posted September 17, 2019 BATTLE OF THE MUSIC VIDEOS ROUND 2 R E S U L T S ENTRIES ROUND 2: UNCONVENTIONAL a music video where she shows her most creative and out of the box concept. @Solarie - Rock N Roll @EriKills - Bet @Touch It - Partition @Overprotected - Where's The Line @KatyCatPH - LWYMD @Invisibility - Bedtime Story CRITIQUES Spoiler YVESS This is an inch resting round, haf truly rose to the occasion, while the half deserves to be roasted. 1. @Invisibility - Bedtime Stories 2. @KatyCatPH - Look What You Made Me Do 3. @Overprotected - Where's The Line 4, @EriKills - Bet 5. @Solarie - Rock N Roll 6. @Touch It - Partition SABBATH ROUND 2: UNCONVENTIONAL Solarie: sfkjdskjfs the product placement in the beginning of the video I really liked the comedy approach and the comic book effects, it’s very fun and I enjoyed it a lot tbh. This could’ve been your acting entry lmao I would rewatch this and probably will tbh!!!!! Touch It: GIRL, what are these choices? Like Formation, Partition is a great video, but it doesn’t suit the category that well. What’s unconventional or out of the box for a pop girl to serve sex in a video? I think this would’ve done better in R1 if you really wanted to use it. KatyCatPH: Yeah, the idea is really cool and creative. Not every part of the video is like “omg so unconventional!11!!!” but in the context of the whole storyline, they make sense (for example the dance scene or the beautiful bathtub scene). The last part with all the different Taylors was brilliant. EriKills: There’s definitely a weird vibe about this (not Bjork/Grimes kinda weird but WEIRD) but at the end of the day it’s pretty much her dancing in ugly lit locations and some effects. It’s not very creative but I do get the “unconventional”-ism. Overprotected: I mean, yeah this was ****ing weird and scary, but at the same time I’m kinda not wow’d because this is exactly the kind of content I expect Björk to put out, so is it really that out of the box for her? A lot to think about, but after much thought and consideration weird and scary doesn't mean it's automatically original/interesting and I think you did better in that regard on Round 3. But more on that later. Invisibility: Yes bitch, give birth to the chickens. Rankings: Invisibility Solarie KatyCatPH Overprotected EriKills Touch It SPEEZY Uncovential: Madonna Bjork Taylor Bey Avril Tinashe ELEMENT Round 2: Unconventional 1. Bjork - honestly wtf is going on in Bjork's mind. this really caught me off guard even for her!! 2. Taylor - LWYMMD really is one of the only pop culture events of the least few years. This video is bursting with creative concepts and symbolism. The use of all of her alter-egos in such a cohesive and detailed way? A true artisté. I wish the other girls could serve something of this caliber in the future. 3. Madonna - The imagery throughout this was very unique and I think she did a good job of combining these different vignettes. 4. Avril - I thought this was going to be a boring hero-esque video at first, but she certainly seemed to be smoking something while creating it! lol. I was certainly not expecting some of these things to happen. 5. Beyoncé - Love this video, but I'm not really seeing it as extremely unconventional. There are some creative aspects, but it doesn't have the same impact as some of the videos above. This would have been a great choice for aesthetics tbh. 6. Tinashe - This was definitely interesting, but I wouldn't classify it as anything avant-garde or unexpected. XOXO

I guess everyone deserves to be in the top 3 but ofc I cant do that. 1. @Invisibility - Bad Girl 2. @Overprotected - Bachelorette 3. @KatyCatPH - Wildest Dreams 4 @Solarie - When You're Gone 5. @Touch It - All Night 6. @EriKills - Player ELEMENT Round 3: Storyline/Plot 1. Bjork - you are honestly three for three in this round, bitch! i was really entranced by this plot and how unique it was. the ups and downs of success and fame and fortune were really gripping. she presented this story in such an interesting way. 2. Tinashe - I honestly really liked this plot. I thought it was simple but effective. She used her three minutes well to show the game of love in a unique way. 3. Taylor - A beautiful video with a solid (if not predictable) plotline. 4. Madonna - I watched this twice and I get it but I also don't get it? It was good but a bit boring and repetitive. 5. Avril - Also not terrible... you had a bit more of a story involved than Beyoncé, but the other four were definitely stronger this round. 6. Beyoncé - Not bad by any means, but the others above definitely had some more intriguing plots unfold. It was more of a slideshow than a story. SPEEZY Story: Taylor Avril Beyonce Madonna Tinashe Bjork SABBATH ROUND 3: PLOT Solarie: damn ma, this song, i hadn’t watched the video for this song in so long,wow. I wish the video concentrated just in one character/pair. I feel like the soldier one is the only one that truly feels like a plot since we see the beginning, the conflict and the resolution, while the other two are just eh, parts of their lives or like a glimpse of their day and not an actual story. Did I still get in my feels when the old man said “I miss you” at the cemetery? You bet! Touch It: the “plot” for this is basically carried by the first part of the video with the monologue, but besides that, once that it’s over there’s no storyline or anything. Very confused by your choices this whole challenge tbh. KatyCatPH: This is a great entry for this part of the challenge. It’s so simple yet so great, the storyline is so easy to understand and follow along plus everything is so cinematic. EriKills: first of all, im so disgusted that poor Tinashe had to touch ch*s br*wn AND he touched her too, tinashe sweaty………….. but with that out of the way, and completely ignoring IT, I think this was a really cool idea. Instead of going for a regular story, the video being a video game was really interesting and different. Very fun, it definitely stands out. Overprotected: omg Tom Marvolo’s diary’s IMPACT. I really liked this. The plot is very obviously there but there’s this unconventionalism about the way this video was approached that I like it more than the one you sent for the actual unconventional round kii, this feels so much more unique because of Björk's quirkiness throughout it. Honestly a very good and entertaining entry. Invisibility: All I have to say is……..WOW. THIS is what a PLOT round was looking for. The way you effortlessly gave us a MOVIE……..no words!
