Yvess Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 YVESS' ROUND 6 CRITIQUES @Invisibility @Alena @Queen Conchita @Loyalty @Psycho Round 1: Loyalty - Christina Aguilera Turn To You Spoiler Yvess: Loyalty - my favorite Xtine Ballad! Her performance is solid and she can really be regarded as the voice of the 00s, much better than the recorded version! I was able to notice X's tendency of exaggerating her vocals and hopefully it may not rub the other judges the wrong way. Great job! Round 2: Alena - Selena Gomez Love Will Remember Spoiler Yvess: Alena : Well, this was not disastrous as the jokes in the thread are trying to prove. I realized she can do folk genre if she gets tired of doing features for djs or rappers and I'll be here for it. I must commend you for a clever song choice, it def gave Miss Musgraves a run for her money since your songs were like in a same realm. My only issue is that I am looking for more emotion from this performance. Round 3: Queen Conchita - Conchiita Wurst Rise Like A Phoenix Spoiler Yvess: Queen Conchita : No question about this pick, this is great! This is a good example of how a great song choice can rise you to the top just like a phoenix! This song and his voice makes you stop and know that this is a "moment" Your best performance since R1 on my book! Round 4: Invisibility - Madonna Lucky Star Spoiler Yvess: Invisibility: First off, kudos for digging this video from the old library of Medoner Ministry jk. This is a decent performance but I don't see this choice to be THAT song to showcase her vocal ability. Round 5: Invisibility - Madonna Holiday Spoiler Yvess: Invisibility: Despite being an upbeat song, this is actually a great choice. It showcased her vocal power tbh. I'll give you points for the showmanship too. Round 6: Alena - Selena Gomez Love Will Remember Spoiler Yvess: Alena : A slightly better rendition of LWR for sure. This is not a bad entry tbh maybe there's something wrong with my ears. Maybe it's black voodoo magic but this is good. Round 7: Psycho - Lady Gaga Pokerface Spoiler Yvess: Psycho : ICONIC. This version stayed in my elementary iPod for years until it got lost so this gives me nostalgic vibes at best. This showed us that her vocals is not to be made fun at all! The best thing about this song is that it has ARTISTRY. xoxo
Yvess Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 YVESS' ROUND 6 CRITIQUES @EriKills @Guero @kiiwii @KatyCatPH @Solarie @thecptz@PoKiTaurus Round 1: PoKiTaurus - Mariah Carey Love Takes Time Spoiler Yvess: PokiTaurus: This is what you call vocal pipes. I love how she harmonizes in this performance. Those high notes seems so easy to reach when you see her effortlessly kill it. The first verse to the first chorus already made me believe that it should get a high score from me. Great job! Round 2: thecptz - Kacey Musgraves Merry Go Round Spoiler Yvess: thecptz: No doubt, her voice is so angelic and it is so soothing to listen to on a rainy day most especially. It gives me Sheryl Crow + Leann Rimes lovechild tbh. I would have given this a more higher score if it was a different song. Just a minor factor for me that I felt like that the song didn't give her too much room to showcase her vocal ability. Round 3: kiiwii - Katy Perry Thinking of You Spoiler Yvess: kiiwii: Pop Rock Katy >>> Kidzbop Katy every friggin day. ToY will always hold a special place in my heart so this is kinda hard to judge coz I watched a lot of her live ToY renditions but you have nothing to worry about since this performance is great on Katy's standards. I am not just so in love with the bridge to the final chorus. Round 4: EriKills - Tinashe Bated Breath Spoiler Yvess: EriKills : Serve us some vocals hunty! I love the buildup, this song is so soulful imo and you can say Tinashe gave it her all. Queen of standing up on a chair! Definitely, this deserves to be among the God-Tier of this round. Round 5: KatyCatPH - Taylor Swift Teardrops on my Guitar Spoiler Yvess: KatyCatPH: I love this song, this song actually made me aware of Taylor Swift tbh. The good thing about this performance is that it is emotionally infectious imo. You can feel that she's telling the story of pain from that guy named Drew. Round 6: Guero - Ariana Grande Tattooed Heart Spoiler Yvess: Guero: Sometimes, constant belting takes away the beauty of the live performance but this is a clear exemption. Perfection! Yaaaaas gorl yas! Thanks for choosing this great video, TH is THAT song to silence all haters! Round 7: Solarie - Avril Lavigne Too Much To Ask Spoiler Yvess: Solarie: This album track will always be one of my favorites. Unfortunately, as an Avril fan, I believe there's more better performances from her debut era that showed her vocals in a good light. I love the belts in the bridge though. This choice is safe which warrants a safe score too. xoxo

Singing isn't all about belting high notes. You should be able to make your audience feel the emotion of your song.
Yvess Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 YVESS' ROUND 6 CRITIQUES @Bawdee @Boys @PinkBox @Not Like The Movies @Pendulum @Touch It Round 1: PinkBox - Celine Dion Where Does My Heart Beat Now Spoiler Yvess: PinkBox: I love the restraint and how she controlled herself from potential oversinging since this is an emotional song lyrically. It is my first time to hear her sing this song live so I am in awe hearing her sing this live. The song choice is also great. And slay that long high note, Queen! Great job! Round 2: Boys - Britney Spears Sometimes Spoiler Yvess: Boys: First, that Hanna Montana wig keeps cracking me up I like this song and it made me believe for awhile that Britney can go head to head with Xtina vocally during their first eras. This also stands out from your competitors' entries since she is actually doing some swaying steps too. My only problem here is that there was a high note wherein she didn't get to reach and resorted to do a falsetto or she whispered. Nevertheless, you can be proud of your entry since it is not the worst one from your team. Round 3: Bawdee - Rihanna If It's Lovin' That You Want Spoiler Yvess: Bawdee: Good job for picking the color of the outfit that represents your team - green Her vocals is really promising eversince it is just that her debut era didn't give justice to her voice imo but still you were able to send in a good entry. It's just that the first 2 minutes totally bore me but she won me back with her adlibs towards the final chorus. Round 4: Touch It - Beyonce Speechless Spoiler Yvess: Touch It: That was a moment. Her vocals here is undeniably good, you can see that she's really blessed with pure and raw talent. Round 5: Not Like The Movies - Janelle Monae BaBopByeYa Spoiler Yvess: Not Like The Movies : I want to drag you for sending in a 9 minute entry but I will not because this song is the living proof of her versatile vocals! You are one of the few people who owned this challenge imo. Round 6 Pendulum - Grimes Sagrad прекрасный Spoiler Yvess: Pendulum: She sounds like a Baby Madonna! I love the first minute of this song then got bored with the rest of the performance sadly. Round 7: Pendulum - Grimes Untitled Spoiler Yvess: Pendulum: I enjoyed this one more than the previous song from Grimes. I just feel like her songs don't give justice to her angelic vocals tbh. XOXO
