From the black antler crown, to the devious, up to no good smirk on her face, and the blackwhite filter adding to theme of darkness. she about to hunt down the fat fairies and twink princesses that dare to roam in ha forest. CRITIQUE: Spoiler Sabbath: EriKills - Tinashe I will say that your explanation helped a lot. It’s definitely not selling a story but a concept with the “Dark Witch of the Forest (but make it fashion)”, and while the parenthesis was probably just a joke, to me is what makes it make sense, a fashion forward approach to the challenge instead of just the usual straightforwardness of sending something fairytale-esque. I love it, I love when the interpretation is in a “fashion approach” (like when Rihanna did it during the Deadly Sins challenge). I feel like I gave this way more thought that expected but whatever! Guero - Ariana Grande Spoiler CRITIQUE: Spoiler Sabbath: Guero - Ariana Grande To me, this is your worst entry so far. If the theme was “nature” then sure it fits perfectly, but I don’t get “ethereal”, or “fairytale” or fantasy or fashion or picturesque or literally anything. Just because she’s outdoors, it’s not a fairytale aesthetic. I feel like a description could’ve really helped you. KatyCatPH - Taylor Swift Spoiler CRITIQUE: Spoiler Sabbath: KatyCatPH - Taylor Swift I think the outfit helps sell it ‘cause it does look kinda like a princess. Also the editing of the pic gives it that wonderland appeal and helps tie everything together. kiiwii - Katy Perry Spoiler CRITIQUE: Spoiler Sabbath: kiiwii - Katy Perry Same problem I had with Ariana’s. I don’t get the fairytale or fantasy or ethereal, and would suit a “nature” round better. It is a beautiful picture, yes, but that doesn’t make it ~ethereal. The clothing doesn’t make me believe like she’s a princess or she’s in wonderland or anything really, so a description on why you chose this or a backstory could’ve helped me see where you’re coming from. PoKiTaurus - Mariah Carey Spoiler CRITIQUE: Spoiler Sabbath: PoKiTaurus - Mariah Carey Lachapelle photoshoots are perfect for this theme so I’m glad someone went for it (or more like, had the right photo to do so). You can clearly see the fantasy imagery here and it’s a good picture. I wish the outfit was different ‘cause it kinda ruins the illusion for me, but still it’s a strong entry. Well done. Solarie - Avril Lavigne Spoiler CRITIQUE: Spoiler Sabbath: Solarie - Avril Lavigne She looks like the villain of the story since everything in the photo is so moody. I like the colors and the set, the outfit, the lighting, the EXPRESSION AHH. Again, if this was a nature challenge it could’ve scored better, but even then, she’s just laying there and there’s nothing very interesting about it. There’s nothing fantasy or ethereal going on that would make me believe this comes from a fairytale book. Rihanna herself is a Goddess, I will not debate that, but this shot is a very big miss for me ‘cause there’s absolutely no magic. Boys - Britney Spears Spoiler CRITIQUE: Spoiler Sabbath: Boys - Britney Spears I hate the flares so much. Now that that’s out of the way, WHEW. Absolutely. This entry is fantastic and probably my favorite of yours so far. You can definitely see the fantasy going on and the outfit makes her look like she’s some sort of fairy. Tinkerbell eat your heart out. Not Like The Movies - Janelle Monae Spoiler Ethereal Fantasy. The theme was to represent nature, gorgeous fashion and picturesque setting. Janelle serves as a beacon of light and incandescence. She is bringing life with her bright presence to this bleak and desolate building which seems to be abandoned and is being taking over by nature. Her dress also gives the imagery of flowers with the material used. She is doing this effortlessly in an Ethereal aspect. The picture is definitely telling a story which depicts the fairytale motif. CRITIQUE: Spoiler Sabbath: Not Like the Movies - Janelle Monae Hmmmm, this was a tough one, if I’m honest, but I like it. Yes, it has the, let’s call them “key elements” (the nature, fashion) and while to me it’s not _that_ ethereal or fantasy-like, the dress and the expression in this particular setting DOES make the photo very picturesque, which was another of the things the challenge was looking for. I like your explanation of her “bringing light to the building” as well. PinkBox - Celine Dion Spoiler Céline serving Mother Nature, creator of life, and God is a Woman, just created Adam and Eve CRITIQUE: Spoiler Sabbath: Pinkbox - Celine Dion first of all, the caption has me screaming. The colors are pretty but it all feels so cheap. And “Mother Nature, creator of life” doesn’t really say fantasy to me, it says, well, NATURE and human behavior. Then, the photo itself it’s not very ethereal, or magical or picturesque or anything and the concept of giving birth is so human that it’s the complete opposite of what this round was looking for. My least favorite entry from you :( Touch It - Beyonce Spoiler serving the queen of the fairies... tinker bell is shaking CRITIQUE: Spoiler Sabbath: Touch It - Beyoncé Touch It, nooooooooooooo. You’re telling me, we couldn’t even get a decent screenshot? I was rooting for you, how dare you do this!!!! The photo I posted was way better, even if it was from a photoshoot we had already seen so this is very, very disappointing. Sure, another entry that is very flower-based and nature oriented, but the fairytale vibe is missing. The LQ takes away any potential etherealness it could have and it’s just not very magic at all.
