ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted January 1, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted January 1, 2019 I liked most of the top 10 albums! I think Caution is a good choice for #1, its prob my fave in the top 10 besides IOP but it feels like a more appropriate #1 album of the year than IOP. I think Nao is talented but she doesn't go far enough in her music. Glad you enjoyed the P songs on Sweetener.
lhdang2000 Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 ALBUM - Camila did surprise me a lot. MoTW disappoints me so much. sweetener could've been a cute 10-track album. VIDEOS - I thought it was a top song, and then I saw Supplies so I knew something was off. The video was really cool tho, JT really serves the visuals this era. God is a woman is a deserving VOTY. Ari has been paying attention to her videos this year, and I appreciate her for that.
Dom Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 sweetener deserved to win, and u know it sis. and that is the truth of the matter.
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted January 1, 2019 ATRL Moderator Posted January 1, 2019 h.e.r., mariah had a great year for me, ari omg Azealia no.1 and Tinashe no.2 we stan love make me feel's video, ntltc, django jane, apeshit... god is a woman winning talent. great videos I used to know her was cute, loved silk canvas!, iop, lost & found, dirty computer, ugh tea on Nao... she did that sweetener whew actually didn't like hive mind much Caution whew... an amazing album... great lists
TRF. Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 YES @ Mariah being #1. Love seeing Ari and Janelle in the top 5 too
Blue Rose Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 9 hours ago, Kiss It Better said: 2. The Internet – Hive Mind Sis, you snapped with this
Kiss It Better Posted January 2, 2019 Author Posted January 2, 2019 25. Tinashe – Stuck With Me (ft. Little Dragon) A whole bop!! Should’ve been pushed as a single if she wants to go pop 24. Ella Mai – Gut Feeling (ft. H.E.R.) A beautiful R&B female collab, this is needed.. I hope this will be a single 23. HONNE – Day 1 I discovered Honne from this song that was played on my friend’s ig story and I went to Spotify to listen to this and their discography, it’s really good I enjoy it a lot 22. Ariana Grande – R.E.M. I prefer Beyonce’s version but Ariana still did it great 21. J.Cole - ATM This might be my favorite J.Cole’s song 20. Tinashe – He Don’t Want It On an album like Joyride I wouldn’t expect there would be a masterpiece like this one, Cold Sweat’s less attractive sister tbh 19. Mariah Carey – The Distance (ft. Ty Dolla $ign) FINALLY she released a fresh bop that doesn’t redo her previous hit (With You was WBT rehash, GTFO was new but still ) I wish she pushed this as the lead instead, also Ty’s voice 18. Nao – If You Ever (ft. 6LACK) This song grew on me after the album came out, I thought I hated 6LACK but damn, he delivered on this song. I swear if Rihanna did this song instead, this would smash… imagine “Rihanna – If You Ever (ft. The Weeknd)” ahhhh perfection 17. H.E.R. – Take You There This song came out when my dad was hospitalized for 2 weeks, and I deadass cried myself to sleep to this song for like 4 nights in a row this song is so beautiful 16. The Internet – Come Over I didn’t really like Roll at first so I was disappointed that Hive Mind would be bad, but then this song was released and yesss finally the bop we deserve! Also Steve Lacy’s guitar solo>>>>>>
Kiss It Better Posted January 2, 2019 Author Posted January 2, 2019 15. Cardi B - Bickenhead The production is great, best song on IOP (beside Bodak Yellow) I wish she performed this song in full on her concerts and pushed this as a single instead of Money and Ring 14. Azealia Banks – Treasure Island Didn’t like the snippets but when this was released, a week early than its original date which is a rare case for Azealia Banks, damn this is a whole bop and this was in my top 5 for a while until I had to limit Azealia’s slayage on here 13. Ariana Grande – better off A beautiful ballad from miss Grande, she snapped. Listening to this when it’s raining outside>>>>> I was hoping this would be a single but sadly she cut the era short so yeah 12. The Internet – La Di Da Better than Come Over but not as great as Girl (which remains their best song) 11. Janelle Monae – Django Jane At first I didn’t like it because of her voice which I thought was production error (?) that it sounds too loud but I get used to it and this song grew on me in September, deserved Bodak Yellow’s success 10. Azealia Banks – Anna Wintour When she played a snippet of this in 2017, this was my second most anticipated track from F2 but when this was released, it got overshadowed by Cardi’s album though by the summer I finally loved it as it deserves… Some says this is the new 212, and honestly this song deserved to be Azealia’s first Hot 100 entry even at #100 9. Jorja Smith – Where Did I Go? Yes I know this was released in 2016, but I have only known this song when the album came out so this song is just so good, the production and lyrics>>> 8. Mariah Carey – 8th Grade I realized that this was the best song on Caution when I checked my most played (when the album just came out) and this was my most played song from the album, so I listened to this again and yes this is the best song on Caution, Poo Bear and Timbaland did great with the production, typical Mariah classic but with 2010s taste 7. VanJess – Another Lover The best Kaytranada produced song this year!! I discovered VanJess also thanks to him and this song which he posted on his ig story, this song makes me want to learn vogue 6. Christina Aguilera – Like I Do (ft. GoldLink) Xtina’s best song. GoldLink’s best song too. They did great. The production and the housey vibes>>>>> this was my SOTY until I redid my list 5. Ella Mai – Boo’d Up A pure R&B song smashing in 2010s? YES! I honestly surprised that that could even be possible because pure R&B been dead for a while, this song is catchy, easy to listen, especially the chorus… I hope Ella will win a Grammy for this next month 4. yaeji - raingurl I know this was released in 2017, and yes I did watched the music video back then once and I didn’t like the song idk why, but in April 2018 Dua Lipa posted on ig story her lipsyncing to this song with voice changer and it blew me, I watched and listened to the song again and WOW a masterpiece and now I’m stanning, her EPs are great and basically her music is the genre that I love the most, hoping for Rihanna to work with her 3. Ariana Grande – everytime A RELATABLE POP PERFECTION!!!!!!!!! AGING LIKE FINE WINE!!!!! Deserves breathin’s success 2. H.E.R. – Could’ve Been (ft. Bryson Tiller) This is something that I imagine how a rihanna x the weeknd collab would sound like if it was a ballad… this is just so beautiful and relatable 1. Azealia Banks – Movin’ On Up SONG OF THE YEAR!!!! I have been waiting for this song to come out since 2017 when there was just the Newbody’s instrumental which is why I love this song mostly, beside Azealia’s vocals and raps… The production is so f*****g dope!!!! Too bad even Azealia herself pay this song dust

Remmy Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Videos: no tears left to cry + God is a woman have some good moments, but I wasn't impressed with them as a whole. All the Stars and APESH*T are mostly solid. SICKO MODE Both Janelle videos, whew Though Pynk should be in Django Jane's spot (or even higher) Albums: @Sweetener: "the Pharrell hate is so unnecessary" For this specific project, I would disagree Dirty Computer really slays we been knew! Screwed, Django Jane, everytime, better off on your fave lists Songs: R.E.M. + better off are nice and chill (especially the latter.) Whew Jane is all over these lists! Boo'd Up everytime, the 2nd best from Sweatener Like I Do is HOT definitely my favorite from Liberation and the Grammys agree!!!

Bubble Tea Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 "better off" is a truly beautiful song. It's very heart-breaking actually. "Anna Wintour" is EXTREMELY catchy. A shame we had to cancel that singer for the 1000th time.
