Since my main Japanese fave Namie Amuro has retired, I guess I should find another one to stan lol. Utada Hikaru, in case you didn't know, is like the biggest J-pop singer out there. In this year she came back with a bright and "happy" record, as opposed to the 2016 "Fantome" which was dedicated to her desceased mother. On this record once again Utada shows her immaculate talent at songwriting and composing. 

Favorites: Play a Love Song, Anata, Oozora de Dakishimete

This was the last minute addition to my list because I've listened to this album like the previous week but oh my God, it's so good! SOPHIE is definitely one of the most progressive and forward-thinking musicians of our time, yet she can serve bops! It's Okay to Cry is a very gentle and endearing attempt to tell us that we shouldn't be aware of our emotions, which I find really appealing. Also while I wouldn't consider this album as a conceptual one, it does tell us a story of SOPHIE's transiton to woman which I think is very important and empowering. 

Favorites: It's Okay to Cry, Faceshopping, Is It Cold In the Water?, Immaterial

I don't like Ariana Grande much, especially nowadays. Her personality is quite obnoxious and her stans are... not relly nice. But hey, I do give a credit when it's due. GIAW is a great pop song, Ariana sounds very powerful and majestically. Also thanks to this song we are blessed to have this

ATRL did this bop severely wrong! The production is LIT, Xtina's vocals are pleasant and she sounds very confident. I have instantly felt that Xtina is finally back to the form and she was gonna come through and I wasn't wrong!

Overall it's really fine album with many bright moments; obviously Ga Ga steals the show here but Bradley Cooper has done decent job as well, I can't help but giving credit to him. Pop tracks were the ones that stuck the best to me, especially Heal Me and Hair Body Face, it's really good that we've got Pop Gaga back and the ballads here are some of Gaga's best: special mention to I Don't Know What Love Is and I'll Never Love again which made me cry a bit. The dialogues weren't necessary, however.

I would never expect that but Poppy gave us gays what we wanted with this album. The album is thematically divided in three parts: the first one is the gay bops about being fly and stylish (in one of whick we can hear Poppy saying "suck my dick", it's really funny), the second one is more serious and adresses topics such as enviormental problems (Time Is Up) and gender identies (Girls In Bikinis, the title track) and the third one is more rock sounding as seems to represent some errors in Poppy's programming which leads to her being more violent and agressive. Sound-wise this album borrows a lot from 00s, Girls In Bikinis serves us LAMB Gwen Stefani, Aristocrat serves us your typical Ace Of Base Song, Play Destroy and X gives honours to 00s pop rock music. The two drawbacks are Poppy's voice that feels flat sometimes and the fact that the album is less focused on Poppy's character (except for Hard Fellings and Time's Up, bacially) which is kinda unfortunate because I really want Poppy's music and quirky personality to resonate.

Highlights: Time Is Up, Aristocrat, Hard Feelings, Play Destroy

My french fave has served arguably her best video in many years. The director of the video is her longtime collaborator, Laurent Boutonnat and it shows through paster colors of the video. There's also the theme of lost siblings getting together in the video which is not very exciting but still cute.

Acc might not be the best choice for a comeback but it did felt like a change for Xtina and I liked it
