Hello everyone! 2018 is coming to an end so I decided to join the fun and make a recap of my favorite musc from this year. Due to forthcoming exams and my new job I've decided to make top-10s this year and also due to the fact that I've listened to just 10 albums lololol However, I will definitely give shoutouts to the albums and songs if I feel like doing so and even if they don't make it to the list so stay tuned!

 

Countdown will start this Friday. In the meantime, I'll post a 2017 recap and give out first HMs!

Charli XCX

 

 

Charli has really won me over with this mixtape: it's so enjoyable and forward-thinking! While I wasn't impressed by Number 1 Angel, Pop 2 felt much more cohesive and futuristic in sound. There is no single bad song there though I was kinda hesitant on Track 10 but it has grown on me as well. In a nutshell, Pop 2 has proved to me that Charli XCX is indeed the future of pop. I would defintiely put the album in my best-of list now instead of Arcade Fire (lol) or something.

Favorites: I Got It, Femmebot, Unlock It, Track 10 though the whole album KNOCKS

This album has grown on me a lot as well, Kelela has definitely served a great alternative R&B record. She is bold and daring and I still have a lot to discover about this album.

I pretty much liked everything that Troye has released this year but it didn't stick to me for a long time so here's that. My My My! is easily his best song, it's a great pop tune.

The finest cut from CHVRCHES latest album, I liked the song instantly. It really does stand out from the rest of the songs from them that are often too poppy and noisy and Matt's performance compliments Lauren's.

It's a fun chill bop that works well. Demi's vocals are alright and I'm really glad that this song did wonders for her. I usually don't really care about Clean Bandit's music but this time they sold the track to me.

The one thing that I like about cupcakKe is that she can be raunchy and woke at the same time. Self Interview is the example of the latter since in this song she call out double standarts on people's sex life (something that Lily Allen has done several years ago), calls out people's obsession with beauty standarts, shallowness when it comes down to preception of her image and swears not to become like that. This song has a strong message.
