Sbbmsve Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 (edited) 5. Kali Uchis - In My Dreams Genre: Alternative Pop Quote When Kali Uchis' new album Isolation came out, it didn't stick with me that much. But with time it grew on me and now I'm loving it. She successfully combines multiple genres on one album. Her voice never gets tiring for me (I hear a bit Amy Winehouse). On Damon Alborn co-produced (Gorillaz) In My Dreams, she is goin' ✈️ Visions era Grimes but with heavier lyrics. "Mama’s never on coke/This isn’t my way to cope" is not an usual lyric for a pop song. In its core it is an escapist pop song dealing with tough stuff. The song never stops being cute and blissful. "Everything is just wonderful here in my dreams" .... 4. Dirty Projectors - That's A Lifestyle Genre: Indie Rock Quote I know that a lot of people don't care about Dirty Projectors since the previous members Angel & Amber left the band. Plus Dave's weird obssessive R&B tracks about Amber (Keep Your Name) kept putting people off from his new music. Dirty Projectors was a dark album compared to Lamp Lit Prose, dealing mostly with his break up with Amber. It was also an interesting genre switch for Dave (he really went full Justin Timberlake on "Death Spiral"). But this time he goes back to the cheerful and guitar heavy sound of Bitte Orca. The second single from Lamp Lit Prose, "That's A Lifestyle" is a strong return to form. It deals with political themes like rich being so powerful, world being ****ed up etc. It is insanely catchy. There is not much going on the instrumental aspect, just couple of guitars, drums and Dave's smooth voice. I guess I'm the only one who still cares about Dave at this point but whatever. I hope he keeps doing his thing. 3. Christine and the Queens - 5 Dollars Genre: Pop Quote Chris... where do I start with her (I'm sorry if I'm using the wrong pronouns). My first real (I don't really count Tilted ) discovery of her was with Doesn't Matter, a strong pop song about pressure that women feel. Chris might seem like an usual, catchy pop album at first but most of the songs on Chris, deal with interesting and serious topics. I feel like 5 Dollars is the strongest song on Chris. It is an insteresting song about paid-sex turning into a love. I just love the vocals of Chris on this song. She sounds so heavenly. Chris' self discovery with this new album is an emotional experience. It grew on me so much and I'm sure many people like me resonated with its lyrics and themes. There is some kind of confidence glowing from Chris, and I'm loving it. We decided to stan forever. 2. SOPHIE - Is It Cold In The Water? Genre: Art Pop Quote The power that that has, the intelligence that that has, the clearance that that has, the access that that has, the influence that that has, the profile that that has, the international implications that that has.. SOPHIE unfortunately misses the #1 spot but whatever girl... Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-Insides and this track in particular is life saving. I don't want to delve into its lyrics, vocals or production.. Saving that for my Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides write-up. All I want to say is this song is ****ING IT & I cried to this million times . . . . . . . . . 1. Beach House - Lemon Glow Genre: This is not something they ****ing made, this is some proffesional like... this **** is in different areas.. What the ****!?!?! Quote You thought you've seen the last of Beach House... lemme tell you NO. This victoria bitch still has my wig hostage I knew that their next album will be something not they ****ing made, a **** in different areas with Lemon Glow. We are goin' psychedelic with those synths. This is so trippy like wow, imagine dropping some hard drugs to this (don't get arrested though ). Colour of their ****ing mind, SONG OF THE ****ING YEAR Notice the quality drop of write-ups in top 2.. .well Edited December 23, 2018 by Sbbmsve

Sbbmsve Posted December 25, 2018 Author Posted December 25, 2018 (edited) These are the albums that I've liked but couldn't make it to top 25 They are in no order, just randomly placed. Kelela - TAKE ME A_PART THE REMIXES Quote Kelela shows us, how a remix album is done. There is a remix for every genre in TAKE ME A_PART THE REMIXES. She does her 2017 masterpiece Take Me Apart RIGHT Fav Tracks: Kaytranada_Waitin_115 bpm, LMK_what’s really good remix_ feat_Princess Nokia_Junglepussy_Cupcakke_Ms. Boogie_100 bpm MGMT - Little Dark Age Quote First of all, I loved this album since it first came out. It has nice catchy 80s pop songs filled with great lyrical themes. But my major problem with is its unoriginality. Just like The 1975, MGMT is not known for their originality. All of their albums borrows their sound from different bands / eras. But unlike The 1975 this album suffers from its production sometimes ( One Thing Left To Try). Still, it is still a solid as they come album. Fav Tracks: When You Die, She Works Out Too Much, Hand It Over Lykke Li - anne frank moment Quote Unfortunately, Lykke's so sad so sexy misses my actual list So sad so sexy was a weird era for Lykke. She decided to go for a more R&B, pop approach but it didn't really work out idk. Some of the songs actually do work and they click with you immediately. But some songs... they are just not happening. Overall, I loved this album but it was so unconsistent. One great song then some bad or mediocre R&B ballad... But kudos to her for coming up with a totally new sound. Fav Tracks: Hard Rain, Jaguars In The Air, Bad Woman (My Mind While Writing This) Dj Koze - Knock Knock Quote I liked the individual songs on Knock Knock but as an album I feel it was too bloated. Great fusion of many genres in one album. Don't know much about him... yeah great albums, beautiful albums Fav Tracks: Pick Up, Music On My Teeth, Bonfire ionnalee - Everyone Afraid To Be Forgotten Quote Ugh, where to start with the legend Jonna Lee. Her Bounty era visuals and Kin era sound were immaculate. I feel like she is not appreciated enough for her music videos. She has the MIND of a master... master.. what... master mind? IDK she is so creative like that. Well was creative like that. On this fully self produced album we see her trying to adopt a more modern synth pop sound. I mean I love the catchiness of these tracks but I don't feel the epicness of her last three albums. While the entirety of Kin could be a soundtrack to an epic movie, this album can be a soundtrack to H&M while you are shopping or something. Anyways still a great pop album that has Jonna's catchy song-writing. Fav Tracks: Not Human, Gone , Here Is A Warning, Samaritan, Like Hell, Temple Skee Mask - Compro Quote We goin' ✈️ Boards of Canada? Another artist I've discovered thanks to #indieheauxs payola. This year lacked electronic releases huh? Fav Tracks: Cerroverb, VLI KIDS SEE GHOSTS - Self Titled Quote I feel like this is the best thing Kanye released this year. 2 messy people come together and make a great hip hop album. Fav Tracks: Feel The Love, Reborn Mariah Carey - Caution Quote Mariah Carey goes for a more lowkey R&B sound on her fifteenth album ( ) Caution. This is the only Mimi I've listened to in full since Emancipation of Mimi. She might have snapped here. Fav Tracks: GTFO, A No No, Giving Me Life Planningtorock - Powerhouse Quote Wheew chile, slay a bit Jam PTR returns with their (Jam uses them / their pronouns) most heartfelt & personal album after 2014's legendary All Love's Legal. These songs have so much insight about Jam's life and world view. They are so personal. Love it!!! Fav Tracks: Transome, Non Binary Femme, Much To Touch, Beulah Loves Dancing, Dear Brother Devon Welsh - Dream Songs Quote Fav Tracks: Vision, Summers End Edited December 25, 2018 by Sbbmsve
