Chun-Li was okay, I just find Nicki so insufferable and annoying now that I can't enjoy her work. I use to love her, but her arrogance is just so off-putting. Honey - Robyn When Robyn spat out "Missing U" I was thinking "umm sis why you releasing this Body Talk Pt. 2 B-Side 8 years late?" but then, finally, the long-awaited "Honey" was released and suddenly I got it - Robyn was bridging her new sound from 2010-2018 with "Missing U" so she could finally serve us her most godly track in almost a decade. "Honey" is just such a perfect title cause it describes how the song arrives. It's like drizzling warm honey all over soft fluffy pancakes on a cold winter's rainy day in a cozy, warm nook on a quiet weekday off work when you have a moment to yourself. This song is delicious, warm, bursting with love and happiness and it's not really what I expected from the upbeat but depressed Robyn but I'm not gonna get what I want, cause she's got what I need. Needless to say this album title track is core to her new album which is also amazing - though I keep forgetting to give it the streams it deserves. Let me get onto that. However that’s kinda the point, even Ariana says in the song “does this end?” which is hilarious. But I love the house-vibes that this song gives off. It’s a little experimental and drawn out which I like - not the usual punchy verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus we’re all so used to. It’s a little slower, takes its times, and gives me the sense the song was created in some jam session and Ariana felt happy and liked it. Isn’t that ultimately what we kinda want from our faves? No one’s gonna appreciate this comparison but it kinda reminds me of the detested Madonna MDNA track “B-Day Song” with M.I.A. It’s just Madonna being silly and carefree for the first time in a long time, and I was so happy she wanted to do that! I know we all want our faves to be successful but we also want them to be happy, and to share their happiness makes me feel good. I love a lot of the lyrics in the song and the whole vibe just makes me feel relaxed and happy. Ultimately it’s an ode to a lover / crush and gives Ari a second to just chill.
