Cloröx Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Filthy is one of the worst songs this decade. It's a bloody mess, a poop on the table.

thanks drake – “in my feelings” simply put, i really f*cking love how this is basically “nice for what” but grittier. from the sparse bounciness of it all, to the city girls segue, to the magnolia shorty sample that comes in right after city girls’ verses. and then when you think that this song has taken you all sorts of places, you get dropped off into a straight-up bounce breakdown. and this time it’s not even like “nice for what” where there’s a whole bunch of meat. this bounce breakdown is just brash, noisy with thumping bass and lil wayne’s voice put on repeat. honestly, i would have been content if this were the lead for drake’s era, lol. pusha t – “the story of adidon” it’s nice to know that the art of the diss track hasn’t totally died. this track is vile in the rawest way possible: the cover art for this song is literally an archived photo drake dressed up in blackface that even drake himself possibly forgot. he raps about drake “playing border patrol” with his son, as well as many other things. he portrays drake as a deadbeat father hiding his child and his child's mom from the world. he disses drake’s dad. he disses one of drake’s longtime producers. he probes: “why do you treat your son’s mother so poorly?”. all of this while using his signature “yeugh”s and using some of the crispest, clearest enunciation and flow. this track is pure venom with no glove. mariah carey – “GTFO” the reason why this is one of the best songs this year is simple. a porter robinson sample with nineteen85 updating it to the modern R&B landscape. and mariah brings her natural diva charm, as the dreamy synths from porter blend with her light, smooth, airy vocals. and the hook being “how ‘bout you get the f*ck out?” just works so well too. i truly believe that this is the song mimi needed to release in 2018 SOPHIE – “immaterial” from late 2017 to 2018, we have seen SOPHIE move from being reclusive to being open about her gender identity and herself in general. we witnessed her claiming who she is, and it’s resulted in one of the best tracks and albums of 2018. one of those tracks being “immaterial”. “immaterial” is a pretty straightforward song that addresses gender identity and what exactly makes people people. for example, the hook of the song is literally just “immaterial girls, immaterial boys, we’re just…” repeated with a punchy party-ready beat. and frequent collaborator cecile believe (fka mozart’s sister) makes pretty direct lines questioning what exactly it means to be a human: without my legs or my hair without my genes or my blood with no name and with no type of story where do I live? tell me, where do I exist? this song explores what exactly it means to live outside of the confines of the human body and what exactly that entails. outside of our physical beings, where do we live? where do we exist? these lyrics work even considering the context of this song, given that SOPHIE’s gender had been under question ever since “it’s okay to cry”, the debut single for the album oil of every pearl’s un-insides. these lyrics might just actually be a rebuttal to the cultural norm that is gender identity. the fact that SOPHIE can easily put such interesting and deep lyrics with such a club-ready, fun, and punchy beat just goes to show how this is easily one of the best tracks of 2018 and how SOPHIE will soon canonise herself as a post-pop pioneer. cardi b – “bartier cardi” featuring 21 savage basically everything i wanted to say about “bartier cardi”, i already said last year about “bodak yellow”. except this time, it’s a bit different. “bartier cardi” is basically a sequel to “bodak yellow” in all senses. it’s a song that celebrates her then-newly-found success. braggadocio is not anything new for cardi (she literally has mixtapes about making cash and beating other people up), but when you put it on a dark beat with a buzzing synth line + 21 savage’s monotone but chill verse + cardi’s jubilant personality, charisma, and flow, you got a monster banger on your hands. the beat works, cardi sounds stellar, 21 sounds great. definitely one of the best trap songs this year. also i f*cking love love love the “sticky with the kick” part. something about the “ck” sound being repeated in that line is captivating to me. worst of 2018 r. kelly – "i admit" a sexual violator makes a 19:11 track talking about how much of a sexual violator he's been. just retire next time you want to talk about it lol joji, blocboy jb – "peach jam" YOU MY BABY LIKE FETUS the chainsmokers – "sick boy" bootleg twenty one pilots i mean not only is it bootleg twenty one pilots, it's a piss-poor attempt at being ~political~ (which seems to be a trend this year with white men in mainstream music). not sure if white guys in the industry think that being fake woke is now the way to sell music to the gp, but it's not working. it didn't work for the chainsmokers, and it most certainly didn't work for JT lil dicky featuring chris brown – "freaky friday" [white guy enlists black guy so he can get many instances of the n word on his track without saying it] this song is bad. making light of chris brown's abusive behaviour, portraying lil dicky as a weird borderline racist who wants to say the n-word or something, and that's just a part of it. i'm sure those lines are supposed to be "jokes" or whatever but idc. you can only say "i'm just joking!! xD" for so long also, DJ mustard in 2018. lol f*ck this song
