Joyride is ok. Not the best, but it has some good moments.

Hayley Kiyoko's debut album is pretty solid :clap3:

With you :jamming:

hmmm With You was such a letdown after GTFO. Hopefully it’s not your highest Mariah song

Posted

Nightride was always destined to be better than Joyride. Gonna wish her more luck for the next one.

Posted

I like expectations, those are the best songs on it too!

imaginary friend is great, it almost made my own list.

I agrih with your write up for With You, there's better lead single material on Caution. I still like the song though!

With You is the worst song on Caution!!!

But I guess you kind agree lol.

Hayley Kiyoko's album isn't horrible but it def sounds like she tried too hard to be artsy fartsy.

With You is a grower indeed, I was disappointed at first but I kinda love it now. Gotta give Hayley’s album a listen, I ended up loving Curious more than I expected!

album #38 - Janine, 99

"Feeling a little drunk of that look in the side of your eyes"

Probably pretty unknown by everyone, but welp, I found this girl a few years ago on youtube, when her stage name was Janine and the Mixtape (Marina and the Diamonds teas, it's not the band). She was singing classic r&b tracks with some pop/indie vibe (Hold Me was probably her most known track). But she basically disappeared since 2015 after releasing of two EPs. I thought she was over already, but last year I found that she changes stage name to just Janine and releasing multiple singles. 99 is her debut full-length record. Mostly pure pop with some r&b roots in couple tracks. The album full of chill bops with her magical voice, we love that! But in the end, I think album just didn't have the same charm as her EPs, even tho I'm glad she found herself.

some favorites: Hold On, Too Late, Believed In You

single #38 - Rita Ora ft. Liam Payne, For You

"I'm bleeding in love when you're swimming in my veins"

This girl is just unstoppable :jonny: After releasing a bunch of pop perfection singles last year she opened 2018 with this flawless anthem. You know, I'm a basic bitch for beautiful hooks and magical building in songs like that. The only thing that kinda keeps me from listening to it more - there's basically no chemistry between Rita and Liam :skull:

album #37 - Kate Nash, Yesterday Was Forever

"You'll never look back at the sun 'cause it's always shining, and he'll never be the one 'cause he's always climbing"

Probably I wouldn't ever think about listening to Kate Nash in 2018. I wasn't interested in anything she releases since debut, but with over-the-topness pop-rock inspired lead Life in Pink, she gets my attention back. Very good record, that can be like by both pop and alternative listeners. Raw vocals with different genres arrangements end up as a playful and fun record. And the fact that it was written by her entirely and funded by her fans via Kickstarter!

some favorites: Life in Pink, Call Me, Karaoke Kiss, Drink About You

.

single #37 - MNEK, Tongue

"I'm putting both hands over my mouth, I can only hope nothing's gonna come out"

This is a MAJOR jam. This 90s inspired house track with sexy mouthing and catchy hook make me like MNEK again.

.

album #36 - Craig David, The Time is Now

"We're all stumbling through the night, but it's paradise in our minds"

After solid comeback with Following My Intuition two years ago, I caught my eye on Craig. But with The Time is Now he kinda lost his touch, I mean yeah, it's a bunch of enjoyable pop/tropical/r&b tracks with catchy hooks here and there, but lack of standouts and pretty much similarity between most of the tracks ruins album building.

some favorites: I Know You, Talk to Me, Talk to Me Pt. II

.

single #36 - Lykke Li, Deep end

"Your kiss is salty chlorine"

Lykke snapping once again. I know there are many ones who didn't like the direction of SSSS. But I love it. And this song is the epitome of it, sexy, haunting, trap sound makes this song for me. And I love how it sounds like it was basically recorded something under the water :skull:

Thankfully I had no expectations from Expectations cause it was
Joyride was... underwhelming, to put it lightly

With You is nice, but I feel it's the weakest song on Caution

Albums: Listened to Expectations snippets months ago but I wasn't influenced to hear the whole thing.

Joyride is a massive step down from Aquarius but it was to be expected. At least No Drama is good.
Singles: Imaginary Friend :jamming: As I've said before in your YTT, not one of my album highlights but I like ha.

Mylene :clap3:She really snapped, it's sad that her same old 30-something ghey stans did her wrong, as usual ?

Loyal is good, both song and video. Paloma is one of the most underrated singers ever

I never bothered about Tinashe tbh

Not into anything from this set but I know I gave For You, Tongue and SSSS (snippets) a try at some point. It's amazing how Liam Payne hasn't been involved in ONE good song yet, not one! Well not counting 1D of course.
