TRF. Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Vince, Christine, A.A.L. and CupcakKe... the CLASSIQUES
Blue Rose Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Doesn’t Matter is kinda of perfection. They really snapped. Euphorize was cute but forgettable.
Pink Matter Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Those Duck Duck Goose lyrics a cackle tbh Doesn't Matter is a bop (a big one as the kids say these days) and I use Being Alive Let me give that Vince track a spin while I'm at it
theblackestday Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 I love cupcakKe, but don't really get the Duck Duck Goose stanning. Quiz is her best song this year (assuming Cartoons was released last year) A.A.L. and Frankie fads Interesting choice @ Vince, it's kinda forgotten now but I love(d) it too. There's multiple songs on FM! that I prefer though Christine talentless hag
MP2K Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 will have to check Rave on U GTFOMD was one of my top songs up until Feb and I dropped it. It's just so bland for Vince.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Doesn't matter is one of my favorites from Chris album she snapped that year
Ewan Chaos Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 LOVE Doesn't Matter & I will ignore the shade on the rest of ha album!
Body Electrician Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Duck Duck Goose a classic Being Alive is cute, not my favourite on Vessel though Doesn’t matter a pop classic
Eeveelution Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) 45. Janelle Monáe - "Make Me Feel" From: Dirty Computer in the years since 2013’s The Electric Lady, Janelle’s profile rose astronomically as she shined in roles in acclaimed films such as Moonlight. She’d become regarded as something of a criminally-underrated genius, so there was a lot riding on her comeback. Nonetheless, she delivered one of the best lead singles of 2018 with an excellent bisexual lighting-drenched video to match.. This is probably Janelle’s most straightforward pop song but it still carries her unique edge. See also: "Don't Judge Me" 44. Pusha T feat. Rick Ross - "Hard Piano" From: Daytona You could argue that any one of Daytona’s seven tracks deserved a spot here, but there’s something about Hard Piano that always keeps me on the edge of my seat. Both Pusha and Rick Ross deliver here and the hook, while being pretty low key, gets the job done for me. Kanye snapped with the production yes he did, make pianos great again king! See also: "Santeria"; "Infrared" 43. Jorja Smith - "On Your Own" From: Lost and Found I feel like Jorja gets written-off as kind of a boring middle-of-the-road artist, but her album was just left-field enough to keep me interested, with some nice artistic choices that I liked. There are some really inspired production touches on this track: the thick, trip-hop-esque drums, the siren-noises that punctuate the verses, it all conjures up this ominous atmosphere which is reflected in Jorja's lyrics about being done with this man. See also: "The One"; "Wandering Romance" 42. LIZ - "Could U Love Me" From: N/A Perpetually in no-album limbo (much like many PC-affiliates), LIZ released several singles this year, to varying degrees of success. The best of them was Could U Love Me, a delectable slice of midtempo pop that wears its influence of turn of the century R&B on its sleeve without sounding at all reductive. See also: SOPHIE feat. LIZ - "Sunscreen" 41. Wednesday Campanella - "The Bamboo Princess" From: Galapagos I already talked about how this is such a successful.mp3 opener in my write-up for Galapagos earlier. The Bamboo Princess takes electronics and combines them with Instrumentation such as horns, stings and woodblocks to build a quiet / loud dynamic between the verses and chorus. In lesser hands you would end up with… a clean bandit single, but the song’s loose, flowing structure keeps it from sounding cliché. Sbbmsve Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Quote See also: SOPHIE feat. LIZ - "Sunscreen" Hurts to see this... Wig at Janelle Been meaning to check Jorja and Wednesday since they are on many best of lists
Eeveelution Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) Gonna maybe do five more this eve, and I'll comment on everyone else's also. Also Ariana's new song is kind of disappointing y'all I was rooting for her ? 15 hours ago, Tom Vercetti said: Rave On U has some points. Wasn't that into A.A.L honestly, but i'm still anticipating another album from Jaar himself though. I heard GTFOMD maybe once or twice and it sounded just like a standalone. Doesn't Matter is the standout, yes. I've only heard Sirens myself, but it's good. Three Sides of Nazareth... that was a classic. 15 hours ago, Vilppu said: i thought i came but i peed on the dick... would say modern shakespeare but why downgrade cupcakke like that didn't care for gtfomd when it dropped but it popped off live, feeling her now I love the D, that's my favourite letter has more hidden meanings than any shakespear sonnet! 14 hours ago, prézli said: cupcakKe ? A TALENT. Other female rappers can't relate 14 hours ago, Wicked said: GTFOMD is what you call anthem. An underrated one too it would seem 14 hours ago, K$Ellie said: Duck Duck Goose was a bop but overall the album had a biT of filler Get The **** Off My Dick wasn't it haven't heard his new album/mixtape tbh There are a couple of fillers but compared to some other female rap albums this year... You're not missing out imo but some here like it and it's only 20 minutes so it can't do any harm to listen to it. 13 hours ago, Kingie said: Duck Duck Goose/Quiz slay. Glad she polished her beats up this year. She made several points with Quiz's production. 12 hours ago, FancyMoonlight said: omg all of these great eps not us both having mothe at #6 our minds. 11 hours ago, Pink Matter said: Those Duck Duck Goose lyrics a cackle tbh Doesn't Matter is a bop (a big one as the kids say these days) and I use Being Alive Let me give that Vince track a spin while I'm at it LMK if you like it! Quiz slaps too though. I don't disagree 8 hours ago, MP2K said: will have to check Rave on U GTFOMD was one of my top songs up until Feb and I dropped it. It's just so bland for Vince. You should. TheWayWeWere Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 MMF yeah, one of the best leads in recent years along with flawless vid just listened to The Bamboo Princess recently, it's great
Pink Matter Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 My fave set so far! MMF has been that bop since like April or whenever it got released. Hard Piano would not be my first choice off Daytona but it's still a good one. I much prefer the recommended songs lol Same goes for On Your Own but I still like a lot. And The Bamboo Princess is a SERVE. What a way to start off an album! Deserved to be higher though I also checked GTFOMD. It's okay. I much prefer the FM! songs to it so it's position as apt.
Blue Rose Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Make Me Feel is obviously excellent. A bit overrated so I’m glad it’s not high in your list Jorja, her album bored me. So I can’t remember how any of it sounds
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 14, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 14, 2018 The only LIZ I liked this year was Pandemonium and even then its underwhelming. Poor girl will never match WIRTW! Make Me Feel is great, but there are a few moments on the album that are just better.
theblackestday Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Hard Piano, The Bamboo Princess I don't really see anything remotely 'left-field' about Lost and Found, and the "boring middle-of-the-road artist" comments are kinda valid, but I still liked the album and On Your Own is one of my faves too Make Me Feel... great gowns, beautiful gowns
World Eater Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Glad that everyone agrees that Duck Duck Goose is a career highlight (with Deepthroat obviously still being her best). GTFOMD unfortunately wasn't my thing and neither was FM! so I guess I'll just wait for Vince's next effort Doesn't Matter, Hard Piano and The Bamboo Princess are all CLASSICS
Tom Vercetti Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Your Daytona highlights are unique. I like MMF but I feel the album has better~ Bamboo Princess is solid and Jorja is still boring x.
MusicLoverDude Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 I don't really blame you for not connecting with One Kiss. Not exactly the most exciting song. Lol Need to listen to Cupcakke, Vince and Janelle.
potent Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Make Me Feel and Doesn't Matter are excellent songs from 2 of the best albums this year
Body Electrician Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 lemme check out Wednesday, I've seen her on so many lists
Wicked Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Georgia Smith is still a snooze but I like your picks overall.
Uncatena Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 omg too much taste to respond to but lemme just say that Doesn't matter is THAT bitch. i love most of your choices so much, the taste that was exhibited was iconic like. the legend leapT out.
