The 2017 update 491477935640018944.png?v=1 Susanne coming out on top :heart2: Vince, St. Vincent, Kelela, Lorde and Perfume Genius :celestial4:

I see lots of people pretending that Masseduction is bad, acting as though they didn't stan until the hate bandwagon :oh:

Sophie, LEG and Janelle for album covers :clap3: Madison's EP wasn't all that but Fools is a SONG 484066601201827852.png?v=1

i increased my list this year and i'm pretty sure it's still better than last year's

#100

Kelela, Princess Nokia, Junglepussy, CupcakKe & Ms Boogie

LMK What's Really Good Remix

7150238

Quote

Though this obviously doesn't hold a candle to the original, LMK What's Really Good is still an incredibly fun remix featuring guest verses from four (!) female rappers. CupcakKe's delivery stands out slights for its abrasiveness compared to the relatively relaxed delivery of the other four artists on the track but it's still the best guest verse here.

Mariah Carey & Ty Dolla $ign

The Distance

7196393

Quote

On The Distance, Mariah sounds like she's having the most fun she's had on a track in years. Ty's verse is decent for what it is too but the real gems of The Distance are the chorus and the song's excellent production. Courtesy of Skrillex and Poo Bear, it puts Mariah's contemporary R&B sound at the forefront whilst incorporating elements of electropop that both producers are better known for.

#98

Jonathan Wilson

Loving You

6774666

Quote

The longest song on Jonathan Wilson's Rare Birds, Loving You is an eight-and-a-half minute epic that primarily builds itself around a percussion and piano loop. There's a zither on this which is cool. Lana Del Rey also APPARENTLY makes an appearance but I've listened to this a lot and I can't hear it.

Florence + the Machine

Sky Full of Song

6948664

Quote

There's not a lot to Sky Full of Song: the first twenty seconds are entirely instrumental except for the faintest jingling of something and most of the song builds around not much more than bass and vocal layers. It's beautifully minimal and is all the better for it.

#96

Melody's Echo Chamber

Breathe In, Breathe Out

6939857

Quote

There's a lot to Breathe In, Breathe Out despite its brief running time. There's screaming, guitars, fleeting melodies, sudden ear-to-ear vocals and more than a few changes of pace. It's eccentric and eclectic but somehow manages to all work.

#95

Wume

It's Okay

7227350

Quote

Wume's first album is almost entirely instrumental and so when It's Okay, the second single from the Baltimore duo's third album Towards the Shadow, begins immediately with percussionist April's vocals it's a surprise. The vocal appearances on the song are brief though and, for the most part, the song lets the duo's signature blend of drums and electronics take centre stage.

#94

The Internet

Roll (Burbank Funk)

6968244

Quote

Roll features Steve Lacy on vocals and has a brilliant bassline. It's funkier than you'd expect from an Internet song.

#93

Childish Gambino

This Is America

6990454

Quote

One of 2018's most talked-about songs, This Is America is dark, political and scathing in its criticisms. It's an all around great song and the video only makes its themes all the more prevalent. It's a song that's very relevant to modern society and the video will likely be remembered as one of the best of recent years.

#92

Kali Uchis & Steve Lacy

Just a Stranger

6912599

Quote

Just a Stranger was rightfully a fan favourite before it was a single. It's about a gold digger and, rather than demonise the song's antagonist, celebrates her carefree, fun nature. The chorus is infectiously catchy and Steve's production is as slick as ever.

DJ Koze

Pick Up

6950144

Quote

Although it's a brilliantly danceable deep house track on its surface, Pick Up is melancholy at its core, lamenting (through an amazingly used sample) how neither party wants to break it off. Pick Up uses its samples to incredible effectiveness and was a relatively late addition to this countdown; I imagine it could've been a lot higher had I got round to listening to knock knock earlier.

#90-81 will be coming later today as I missed yesterday's update (which would've been this ten) so stick around for that!

As She Pleases is probably one of my least favourite EPs on this list but the first three songs are enjoyable enough for me to include it

Lots of great EPs. Aside from the ones that made my own list, Sudan and Jenny were good and deserved more listens from me.

The Long Sleep is ony of my favourite EPs here :jonny: you should definitely give it a few more listens if you get the opportunity to

Oh there's Sink. I like Laurel and haven't heard this ep yet :rip: I did listen to Raw Silk however but wasn't into it.

I also keep seeing Kimbra and haven't gotten to her ep either.

Hatchie, amber, weeknd, ravyn, moses :clap3:

this EP is completely different to RSUW, very much a return to pre-Raw Silk Laurel sound

"seems to take the best bits of all of Jenny's previous releases and combine them into this excellent four song" who said that

i literally saw one person say it and decided to include it to bulk out the comment cause i didn't really know what else to say :toofunny2:

I've been craving some new Kaytranada so I have to get into that at some point. I also might check out the Amber Mark EP. I've seen a lot of y'all posting about that one.

Amber's EP is definietely worth a listen!

I don't hate Hozier as much as everyone else (his voice kinda saves him from that) will take a listen to his EP.

the first two tracks are the standouts for me

Solid update so far! The LMK remix is a cute girl but they all did their thing on it.

It took me a minute to get into Roll but I enjoy it a lot now! I think the Kaytranada remix is much better though.

TiA is alright. The video is excellent but the song doesn't really warrant many listens. Guess that's why its' in the first batch out

Just a Stranger is just the ultimate bop too :clap3:

And I your write up for Pick Up is great. Another great track :katie2:

As She Pleases being on your list. Madison snapped on it :clap3:

Haven't heard the LMK remix, but i love the original

Fix the banner fat :fish2:

Honestly there were no clear standouts on Isolation, at least for me. I mean I do like some tracks better than the others but I don't think anything in particular was better than the rest hence Idk if I'd put anything on my own list. That said, Just a Stranger is THAT song :yas:

Also love The Distance, Roll and Pick Up :heart2:
