The attention to details is meticulous. Every synth riff and every piano note are carefully placed. The timing of the drums and bass is rigorous. That, with the expressive vocals and sweet melodies create a cathartic experience. His androgynous voice adds mystery. The minimalism adds intimacy. The sensuality adds romanticism. Who woulda thunk that a Canadian, based in Germany, would pen the most exquisite R&B song of the year? Malcom channels his inner mad scientist to create a catchy, bouncy and euphoric track about substance abuse and heartache. This masterpiece is painted with sparkling synths from Christine And The Queens collaborator Dam Fuk, a super creative bass from Thundercat, background vocals from Syd and adlibs from Snoop Dogg. I’ve been obsessed since day one. We truly lost a huge and underrated talent. “Send To Robin Immediately” is the subject of the email super producer Kindness (Solange Knowles) sent to Robyn with the demo of this track. This sense of urgency is apparent throughout the song. The gospel tinged lyrics are a call to live and love to the fullest because tomorrow is not guaranteed. In the context of the album, Robyn has already confessed her mistakes and begged for forgiveness, this is that moment when she’s urging her ex-lover to give her an answer because waiting is also very painful.
