Because they're untalented.

This song should have been a hit! After receiving attention from Jax Jones' "You Don't Know Me" as a featured artist by the general public, Raye couldn't open to bigger audience in solo which is a shame because with "Friends", she delivered a serious bop, a certified radio material. She sings about girl v girl rivalry over an electronic Arabic music as she points out she'd have f-cked with a girl rather than a boy.

James Bay's "Electric Light" was a bad album, however its second single is not like that. "Pink Lemonade" is a welcome change for James Bay after leaving behind his previous folk rock style. In the synthpop-influenced but mainly pop rock song, he doesn't really sings about pinky things as the title refers to: he wants to escape from reality by ignoring voices around him. Actually, he shouldn't have listened to them because his album would've been as good as this song is.

This is what I call a comeback! Dido disappeared after her 2013 album and now she's back by a storm! "Hurricanes" is a pop experience. Written and produced by herself and her brother Rollo Armstrong, Dido's vocals are calm in the first few minutes of the song. In the middle of it, the production gets thunderous as the electronic beats zigzag while Dido sings blurry. When hurricane leaves, her raw voice shines through the minimal and later guitar-driven instrumentation.

Alexandra Stan is not that tasteless singer anymore we used to know with worldwide debut single "Mr. Saxobeat." Her 2018 album called "Mami" is her most mature album to date with some gems on it. Inspired by 80s synthpop, "Thinking About You" (featuring DJ, producer Suark) is like a little sister to Jessica Simpson's 2006 hit "A Public Affair": its carefree vibe and disco-ish production make it not only one of the best songs of 2018 but the best song of Alexandra Stan's career as well.

I did not expect that En Vogue (I mean, the glorious EN VOGUE) would slay me this year, but here we are. "Electric Café", their first album in 14 years, was decent. Its hightlight and second single is 90s inspired R&B track "Reach 4 Me" drives us back to the good old-school times. (Take notes, TLC.) Producer Dem Joinz (the mastermind behind ATRL favorite "Lotus Intro" by Christina Aguilera) found En Vogue's sound in 2018. It's so pleasant to listen to.
