Also lemme copy this formatting, it makes a lot more sense that only the YT link is spoiler'd not the titles/descriptions :rip:

AL-90, Channel Tres, Ravyn Lenae, Abel :clap3:. I found Amber Mark's ep pretty forgetful when I first listened to it but I'll get back to it

Ooh didn't know Steve Lacy was party of this Ravyn girl's EP - I'll def need to check it out.

Amber Mark's EP was my favorite of these - I agree, it's smaller but better than her first one. I don't think her first record was AS bedroom-vibey for some reason, but it felt more internal than Conexao, which is weird since I usually prefer the internal records.

Nothing I like / know. But I'll remain perched.

Amber's EP was good, but I loved first one more

MDM was cute for a minute, but aged badly for me :michael:

I loved that Channel Tres EP but then again, I'm a big fan of Nick Sylvester's production. Ravyn snapped as well

Wake up, Tommy, I need an update.

Top EPs~ My Dear Melancholy, is decent but I can only remember what the first 3 tracks sound like dd.

Some would say it’s frontloaded.

Don't have much to say about your EPs since I never really checked for them much this year (don't really know work to look dd) but I did listen to the Peggy Gou one and the Wednesday Campanella one (which deserved much better :jonny:).

20-11: Only heard The Weeknd's and Ravyn's. I also felt The Weeknd's got a lot of unnecessary hate too. At this point, Abel's kinda stuck in a rut in terms of subject matter because I think if he goes down some dramatic route with it, it might seem disingenuous to some people? Or at least weird and unwanted? Idk. Maybe that's some misguided perception I have. But I'm happy he's playing with his sound more. He needs to serve me some more electronic excellence with his next project.

Ravyn's was nice and sleek. A great intro to an artist who hopefully has more to offer!

I enjoyed campanella’s album from last year much more than her ep for some reason. I’m not sure where The Weeknd is going next but he needs to make it concise again like the mixtapes.

the Miho Hatori/New Optimism EP is interesting! I should give it more spins, but it's exciting to see her do something so fresh so well into her career.

Love to see Ravyn here :heart2:

I think Miho has other projects so I’ll check those out too.

Make sure not to do spoilers manually or else the posts can get messed up.

That’s how I felt about her first so but the new one had more of a lasting impression.

He’s on two tracks at least.

You have listened to so much different music, oh my god.

do you work something related to music, cause i wouldn't even be able to listen to that much. hah

Abel :clap3: I'm glad the EP made it to your list!

Nah i'm just very open to various kinds of music. I do a lot of digging tho.

10. Stars Hollow - Happy Again (Midwest Emo)

a2552001947_10.jpg

The raw vocals may be an acquired taste but I dig them, along with the strong instrumentals and energy behind them. Top Tier midwest stuff.

Key Track: As You Were Before

Spoiler

9. James Ferraro - Four Pieces For Mirai (Progressive Electronic)

Image result for james ferraro four pieces for mirai

I definitely see this as improvement over Human Story 3 which was unremarkable. James created this to present a futuristic dystopian theme and I think he met the goal through the music. I also enjoyed this more than the OPN EPs (Not to start a OPN vs James war here since the two are often viewed among the top tier electronic producers of this decade.)

Key Track: Green Hill Cross

Spoiler

8. Black Thought - Streams Of Thought Vol 2 (Hip Hop)

Image result for black thought streams of thought vol 2

I didn't get enough time to fully digest this since it just came out recently but I liked it more than volume 1. One difference is the collab with Salaam Remi for some added production flavor. Recommended to those who are more into "old school" hip hop or simply The Roots.

Key Track: Streets

Spoiler

7. Moses Sumney - Black in Deep Red, 2014 (Art Pop)

Black-in-Deep-Red-2014-1533909520-640x640-1533913638-640x640.jpg

A step in the right direction for him. Short and sequential.

Key Track: Call To Arms

Spoiler

6. Roza Terenzi - Mwah EP (House)

The more talented version of Peggy Gou~

Key Track: Gigi

Spoiler

5. Imperial Black Unit - State Of Pressure (Industrial Techno/EBM)

Image result for black imperial unit state of pressure

Heavy retro industrial tunes. Adore both the A and B sides.

Key Track: Philosophy Of A Knife

Spoiler

4. Uniiqu3 - Phase 3 (Jersey Club)

Image result for uniiqu3 phase 3

An EP full of club bops as the kids say these days. Recommended for those who likes Tkay Maidza or Cupcakke I guess?

Key Track: Bubble Gum

Spoiler

3. Hatchie - Sugar & Spice (Dream Pop)

Hatchie:%20Sugar%20&%20Spice%20EP%20.jpg

I like it when newcomers deliver good eps and it makes u look out for them in the future. Sugar & Spice is lush and strangely nostalgic. Cocteau Twin's impact lives on still. Each of the songs don't blend in with each other too much, which is a common flaw/criticism in dream pop/shoegaze projects. Recommended for pop fans.

Key Track: Sleep

Spoiler

2. Kilo Kish - Mothe (Alt R&B/Electropop)

mothe.jpg

This is her best project imo. I've always enjoyed her presence in Vince Staple albums but her debut didn't convince me enough that she can hang on her own. With Mothe however, she pulls a strong argument.

Key Track: Elegance

Spoiler

1. André 3000 - Look Ma No Hands (Vocal Jazz)

Image result for andre 3000 look ma no hands

Perhaps the only ep that really tugged the heartstrings? It's no album but i'll take it for now. This seemingly came out of nowhere but it was welcomed and was appropriate for the Mothers Day. The length 17 minute jazz piece also felt necessary for completion and ties in with the piano outro of Me & My. This is what talent sounds like.

Key Track: Me & My (To Bury Your Parents)

hatchie and moses were good, haven't heard anything else. sampled the key tracks tho and kilo's were pretty good so maybe i'll check that

Posted

Oh I like the Hatchie song, mainly cause i adore pop music, and she is pure pop. Nice one.

Posted

That Gigi song is great, love me some house/techno

Sleep sounds like a song alt-pop ATRL would stan, I like it!

:skull: Did not know Moses and Andre released EPs this year I-

After Sugar & Spice my expectations for Hatchie's album are high, she better not screw it up :jonny: Never listened to a Kilo Kish project until earlier this week, but I really enjoyed Mothe. As for Moses, idk if I'd say this is a step into the right direction considering how much I loved Aromanticism. Either way, the EP was fantastic :alexz:
