- amber mark was great, you picked my favourite track too.  

- i am so glad i discovered ravyn this year!  a friend of mine saw her live and said it was incredible

- channel tres, like you said, definitely "chill" but in the right way where there's enough substance to back it up.

- sunmi good too, i loved black pearl personally for that city-pop sound.

 

2018 definitely had way better EPs than albums

Amber is probably my favorite from this set, added the ones I haven't heard to my Spotify.

I think he's exploring some different territory in terms of sound. Subject matter however is getting same-old. Agree on more songs like Secrets.

Ravyn's getting a lot of promo here from other lists. Black Pearl is also a highlight. And yeah a great year for eps too.

I mean he does but even then it all gets Abel'd which I suppose isn't a bad thing, since he has his own sound.

 

He just hasn't really evolved said sound into something else. Yeah the creepy Canadian act as far as subject matter is just...

I'm slightly surprised (but very glad) you included MDM, it really is overhated, but I guess people having expectations from him to make a return to his old sound was bound to be hated

If you like yaeji or Big Fish Theory give Channel Tres a try, I didn't list it but Sudan Archives - Sink is a worth a try too.

Don't have much to say about your EPs since I never really checked for them much this year (don't really know work to look dd) but I did listen to the Peggy Gou one and the Wednesday Campanella one (which deserved much better ). 

20-11: Only heard The Weeknd's and Ravyn's. I also felt The Weeknd's got a lot of unnecessary hate too. At this point, Abel's kinda stuck in a rut in terms of subject matter because I think if he goes down some dramatic route with it, it might seem disingenuous to some people? Or at least weird and unwanted? Idk. Maybe that's some misguided perception I have. But I'm happy he's playing with his sound more. He needs to serve me some more electronic excellence with his next project.

Ravyn's was nice and sleek. A great intro to an artist who hopefully has more to offer!

the Miho Hatori/New Optimism EP is interesting! I should give it more spins, but it's exciting to see her do something so fresh so well into her career.
