potent Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Stir Fry and Powerglide not really my cup of tea but cute nonetheless.
Lazuli Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Overtime But the Glasshouse shade was not cute
Invisibility Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 An update late but Only Acting and narashite Slayyyter was recommended to me and I've enjoyed the messing-around 2000's Britney vibes from ha songs a lot
Blue Rose Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Not really into Travis. I think he’s a leech. But Thundercat is a genius. Powerglide is cute.
Uncatena Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Overtime is THAT bitch, huh lemme add Daniel Avery to my list, that track is inch resting
M A R C Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 I have a love hate relationship with Stir Fry. You just reminded me to add Egoist to my list.

Stir Fry is actually listenable to congrats to them on that accomplishment! Migos did what they had to do. 20 hours ago, Vilppu said: did not expect aseul this high slay imo egoist and the azealia song would require some serious re-working to become truly great but i did enjoy them to a degree and everything else here i like They are a bit clunky but not enough to be a major distracting factor for me. 18 hours ago, Legend E said: Well I still think Glasshouse was good, but Overtime is such a bop Agree on the 2nd portion. 14 hours ago, Pink Matter said: Solid set! My fave's gotta be Marie but Migos, Travis, Jessie, and Rae all slay. Tom Vercetti Posted December 27, 2018 Author Posted December 27, 2018 35. U.S Girls - Rosebud (Art Pop/Synth Pop) One of the best Kylie Minogue songs this decade. Those soft synths entering the hook and staying throughout the song Spoiler 34. Allie X - Science (Synthpop/Synthwave) Similar case to Poopy's Time Is Up, the futuristic synthwave atmosphere gives this more of a flare than her other regular synth songs. It's a contender for her best song. Spoiler 33. Bladee - Decay (Cloud Rap/Alternative R&B/Emo Rap) Bladee uses Auto-tune the way Bob Dylan used his Harmonica; for punctuation, for atmosphere, for an alienatingly weird sound effect. It's a blast of vocal distortion, harsh on the surface, but expressive, capable of sounding wildly funny or abrasively pissed-off or seductive. Spoiler 32. Leo Anibaldi - Universal (Deep House/Italo House) Recorded in 1991 but wasn't reissued until this year. I'm counting this for 2018. Apart from the Welcome To Paradise House compilation series, this lush and sultry tune has been in my ear almost the whole year. Spoiler 31. Mitski - Washing Machine Heart (Art Pop/Chamber Pop) B-b-but it's not one of the first three singles! I like my synths and washing machine offers plenty of that. Despite its length it feels like a complete song and doesn't overstay its welcome nor abruptly end. Spoiler 30. JONGHYUN - Rewind (K-Pop/Dance Pop) Perhaps one of the most stylish tracks ever? R.I.P and thanks for the music. Spoiler 29. Julia Holter - I Shall Love 2 (Art Pop/Ambient Pop) I like how the visual for her album resembles a mystic dark forest with magical beings floating around because that's what comes to my head upon hearing I Shall Love 2. "That is all, that is all, there is nothing else" she whispers upon the first second as we clear our minds to appreciate the starting instrumental. The climax where her voices grows bigger in sound and production increases in intensity left the #indieheaux community shook. Spoiler 28. Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch (Dream Pop/Progressive Pop) Well Well Well.... Mr Antonoff has given Lana her most acclaimed song since what.. Video Games? Of course it's not solely on him, this features typical lana lyrics but her vocals here (especially in the last minute) are extra effective. Good for her branching out and extending boundaries. Some say it's lengthy but i'm kinda used to long songs anyway. It doesn't even feel like its run-time if you let it take you into its proggy world. Spoiler 27. JPEGMAFIA - 1539 N. Calvert (Experimental Hip Hop/Glitch Hop) Breh that John Lennon line tho. Spoiler 26. Mandar - String Theory (Tech House) The shortest 10 minute track. Once the groove kicks in it doesn't stop. I also have to find the name of whoever is on this cover cuz jeez she's attractive. Spoiler 25. Ariana Grande - No Tears Left To Cry (Dance Pop) I love how this grew on everyone when most people were calling it a flop at the beginning. This is her definitive song of the year. Not TU,N, not GIAW, not breathin, and not the pharrell tracks (except R.E.M since that almost made it here). Spoiler 24. Kanye West ft PARTYNEXTDOOR, Kid Cudi, 070 Shake - Ghost Town (Art Pop) He has shown Koon tendencies and loss of sanity but as a producer he still got it. In an album of rushed mishap, there's some brilliance. I have to admit this took a while to grow on me cuz the singing styles were a choice but in the end it paid off. "I PUT MY HANDS ON THE STOVE TO SEE IF I STILL BLEED" is one of The quotables of the year. Spoiler 23. Serpentwithfeet - bless ur heart (Art Pop/Alternative R&B) bless ur voice and emotive vocal runs. Spoiler 22. Janelle Monae - Don't Judge Me (Contemporary R&B/Art Pop) One of the most meaningful/personal and the most TAA'd track on the album. She pulls off the Radiohead inclusion much more conveniently than say Teenage Dream. The waves in the background and her tender vocal delivery as she pleads for us to not judge her true form results in a memorable performance. Spoiler 21. Kali Uchis - Dead To Me (Psychedelic Soul) It was so hard for me to choose a highlight from her album since it's that sonically diverse, but production wise Dead To Me appealed to me the most. This song has taught me that a way to forget about a person is pretending that they're dead. We don't talk about the acoustic version btw, that's dead. Spoiler
M A R C Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Ugh Rewind and Don't Judge Me are soo good.

Dom Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Venice Bitch, might be acclaimed, but it's nowhere near Lana's best works, it's amazing tho, but still no Born To Die. No Tears Left To Cry is amazing, and honestly one of the best songs this year, for me at least. Breathin is a bit better, but still. Don't Judge Me is fav
Vilppu Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 love love love you for putting rewind so high, it isn't the song that's the closest to me personally but (along with take the dive) it's the most objectively impressive one i think correct, amazing choices for US girls, kali, lana, julia and mitski but my other favourite here would be bless ur heart, i love serpent's approach in general but on this song it works the best

Agree on the last pointer. - I'm gonna try to finish this countdown before new years. Don't wanna spend much longer covering 2018 things in 2019.
Remmy Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Don't Judge Me + Ghost Town no tears left to cry Science DJM needed some time to grow on me, it's incredibly relaxing though. Science is so damn good, if I ranked her discography it'd probably be around #10-12. @Venice Bitch: "Well Well Well.... Mr Antonoff has given Lana her most acclaimed song since what.. Video Games?" I sadly don't care for the song but Jack's impact WHEW!
theblackestday Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Whew, a fantastic set As for Rosebud, I assume you mean "one of" the best Kylie Minogue songs this decade because the best one is also from that album Really happy to see Venice Puta in the top 30 although wish it was higher Washing Machine Heart, I Shall Love 2, Dead to Me, Ghost Town (by far the best ye had to offer), NTLTC are all excellent Rewind is so good and was a pleasant surprise, Vilppu ha payola made points. Great suits at the others
Jet Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Dead To Me is my fave from the album NTLTC (dance pop masterpiece) and Science (synthpop masterpiece)
MP2K Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Update! Rosebud, Washing Machine Heart, No Tears Left To Cry, Ghost Town, bless ur heart, Don't Judge Me, Dead To Me
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 28, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2018 Dead To Me really did give me freestyle-realness that I loved. Don't Judge Me got old quick for me, but it's still good/I like the message. Shocked Rewind is this high but well it's a gr8 song Shoulda picked Baby I'm Bleeding or Real Nega for JPEG Washing Machine Heart is the best non-single
Wicked Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Great update, whew! Peggy's references are awesome, the John Lennon line had some people upset tho.
Pink Matter Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 A set! U.S Girls, Mitski, Julia, Lana, Ari, serpent, Janelle, and Kali The ladies really did stomp on the men this year!
collin Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 (edited) Marie and Slayyyter being next to each other The ME jumped out, and I LOVE IT. Anna Wintour, Rosebud, Washing Machine Heart, 1539, Bless Ur Heart, Dead To Me, I Shall Love 2 is an epic song that keeps on giving. No Tears Left To Cry is my favorite of all of these which may or may not come as a surprise. Edited December 28, 2018 by collin
