Cloröx Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 I was disappointed with We Appreciate Power. No wonder it didn't make it into my list. That bitch better serve next time
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 21, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 21, 2018 i kind of forgot about WAP but it's still high on my countdown
Wicked Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Wild Nothing & Peacock are my favorites. Jean is so underappreciated. WAP is messy and not it for me, and this is coming from a big industrial fan (Rammstein coming for 2019 AOTY)
Dom Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 He Don'T Want It is amazing, but title always makes me scream it's like general public with tinashe, they don't want it
Maddox Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Although WAP doesn't have much replay value it's good. Love the Toro Y Moi/Tinashe tracks Lemme save the rest!

Tom Vercetti Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 95. A$AP Rocky - Distorted Records ('Experimental' Hip Hop) Inspired by Yeezus's On Sight, Rocky had somewhere going with this bass heavy opener. A strong start to a sluggish journey. Spoiler 94. JMSN - Talk Is Cheap (Neo-Soul/Contemporary R&B) It wouldn't be a countdown without a JMSN song stuck somewhere. It's nice to hear more conventional style nowadays. Spoiler 93. Idles - Colossus (Post Punk/Art Punk) This song has unusual structure and there's a sense of tension as it goes on. The moment where it almost stops completely just to transition to a faster punk groove is a risky thing to do. Paid off? Perhaps. Spoiler 92. Easyfun - Be Your USA (Bubblegum Bass/Electropop) I just got into easyfun's material (and moreso pc music on a general level) this year. It's a pretty standard pop song in areas but the turn me up hook is the highlight here. Spoiler 91. The Voidz - AlieNNatioN (Hypnagogic Pop/Trip Hop) Fuzzy pop with a killer hook. Spoiler 90. Gang Gang Dance - Lotus (Neo-Psychedelia/Indietronica) Ethereal sounding and the vocals are similar to grimes.. Spoiler 89. Tommy Cash - X-Ray (Happy Hardcore, Euro-Trance) I don't know why I like this so much but the production surely is carrying Tommy. Spoiler 88. Koto - Taikutsuが止まらない (J-pop/Dance Pop) Kawaii and joyful in a retro way ^-^ Spoiler 87. DJ Koze - Pick Up (Deep House/Nu-Disco) This is becoming a staple song of his. Spoiler 86. Lupe Fiasco ft Crystal Torres - Alan Forever (Conscious Hip Hop) Whenever Lupe isn't off his rocker, he can make some meaningful songs. He can be inconsistent but when he gets his **** together, it works. This song centers around alternative journey of a child who in reality died young while on an immigration mission. Spoiler 85. Melody Echo's Chamber - Quand Les Larmes D'un Ange Font Danser La Neige (Neo-Psychedelia) The title is such a mouthful! The song length and composition sure fits it however. Spoiler 84. Vince Staples ft Ty Dolla Sign - Feels Like Summer (West Coast Hip Hop) He accomplishes the vibe he was going for and Ty Dolla actually sounds good here. What's with him and Paak releasing these kind of projects dead ass near winter. Spoiler 83. Avantdale Bowling Club - F(r)iends (Jazz Rap) Avantdale is one of those overlooked debuts that has substance but isn't recognized much in the YE lists. As a fan of Jazz Rap, there's some points to be found here, such as f(r)iends, which is a homage to close friendships. Spoiler 82. Lou Hayter - Cherry On Top (Pop) Blissful sunny pop. I randomly stumbled upon this on Youtube and it was a great find. This is her only song but i'm interested in more. Spoiler 81. Skee Mask - Session Add (Breakbeat/Ambient Techno) There's a satisfying payoff with this song. Static ambient textures in the first half with a looped beat in place, transitioning into the 2nd half when the trap-like drumbeats really kicks in. Reminds me of Autechre's Under BOAC. His best song is still Fjorward Flex Dub. Spoiler X
Vilppu Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Distorted Records, pick up and lotus are good and this is definitely melody's best song, it's stunning alliennation was also one of the few the voidz songs i wanted to come back to
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 22, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 22, 2018 I love loads of these! Pick Up, Quand Les Larmes, Feels Like Summer and Session Add are all great. Blue Rose Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 I liked Vince’s project more than I thought I would. It was fun. Testing got stale after 48 hours but had 2 or 3 good moments.
Dom Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Yaaas distorted records is amazing, it's like the highlight (one of) of the album. Tommy Cash is always a good choice.

ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 22, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 22, 2018 What a random KOTO pick... I mean it's still great but I just think its the weakest on the album. I mean something has to be, right? This Lou Hayter song is a banger omg, I need more like this.
Uncatena Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Session Add is one of my faves off Compro too, wig Pick Up is already a staple and a classic, whew X-RAY is the right kind mix between odd and absolutely fun bop, it goes so hard Lotus is so gorgeous and really takes me somehwere I totally forgot about Be Your USA but its a cute sing, easyfun is one of my faves off PC Music
potent Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Sadly Im not familiar with these. The Lupe song sounds fascinating though.

theblackestday Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Lotus is what Grimes wants to be but will never have, agreed even though you didn't say that out loud X-Ray feels like it shouldn't work but it does and so well? Eurodance revival arrived Pick Up and Quand Les Larmes my top choices from their respective albums probably. and I agree that the former feels like a staple already. Also Session Add () and Feels Like Summer, although not one of the FM! song I would go with Maybe my fave set so far?

MP2K Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Distorted Records was a decent opener I guess, could have packed a little more punch though FLS is a bop/vibe but Vince is really spitting, people don't understand
DAP Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Distorted Records is fine enough, the only Testing track I remember in fact. Rocky spending 3 years on a largley forgettable album. Lemme throw him in the trash bin with Thugger King Vince stays smashing the game (even though admittedly, FM is my least favorite album from him, but nonetheless is good)
Pink Matter Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Distorted Records, Talk Is Cheap, Pick Up, and Feels Like Summer All this messy Testing shade being flung in here though I can't wait for y'all to look back at what I've been preaching, and praying, and saying when this becomes a cult classic in 10 years.
