New Light :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: The song that got me to listen to (most of) his discography this year. There's actually more breezy songs on his 2017 album, The Search for Everything. Definitely his best work.

I really liked the Ichiko Aoba album, it's relaxing and makes for good study music imo.

I can't remember if i listened to the Adrianne album or just symbol. :skull: Either way she didn't have my attention like Big Thief did last year.

I only listened to The Beths' once and it didn't leave an impression honestly.

The Ichiko Aoba albums I heard are all pretty relaxing and easy to listen to. Adrianne's album is eh. Only kept Symbol. Kind of the same with The Beths.

Uhm didn't John Mayer was dropping good music anymore. He's kinda the best out of the guitar boys though.

Yes, John's an excellent guitarist and his live stuff is usually more regarded than his studio work. New Light is solid tho.

Didn't know you liked Kyary   She was just OK this year.

I never listened to The Beths tbh....

I'm a fan of Moshi Moshi and Nanda Collection. Agree on her being okay overall in 2018.

It's not really energetic but it doesn't need to be imo.

LMK remix yyyyyaaaahhhhh.

(But LMK should have been your #1 last year still. :-*)

It's not the LMK remix, it's the WYWD remix. Also, Blue Light outsold.

I only listened to Tom Misch and The Beths in this list and of the two I only liked Tom Misch dd

His album was great and Lost in Paris was nice, light, and breezy and GoldLink was a great addition :clap3:

Tom Misch reminds me of Jordan Rakei. I wonder if they ever done a collab together.

Continuum is actually kinda good. He has some underrated early stuff.

My next set tomorrow will be more mainstream I promise~

155. Poppy ft Diplo - Time Is Up (Electropop)

I hate how I like this song because I don't care for Poppy at all as a person or an artist but it's the 80s Tron sound design that attracts me. If diplo wasn't attached to this then I wouldn't have figured that he was behind the production.

154. Young Thug - Gain Clout (Trap Rap/Pop Rap)

Thugger's output this year was pretty pathetic. His 2014-2016 years were golden but after that... the fell off happened. Only song that kept my attention was Gain Clout due to its hazy atmosphere. It's short but gets the job done.

153. The Brummies ft Kacey Musgraves - Drive Away (Pop Rock/Indie Rock)

A pretty laid back song and an eventful collaboration between the country pop it girl of 2018 and some unknown indie band.

Back in my online gaming days I used to listen to tons of d&b, dubstep, liquid funk, glitch hop and so forth. I'm not in that phase anymore. However, Koan Sound recently released an album that kinda brings me back to those days. I always appreciate sound design with these kind of songs.

One of the couple songs I recall from his underwhelming album. Particularly because of the classic slick rick sample repeatedly throughout the song. The message concerning police brutality gets across.

Bloom is my favourite of the upbeat Troye singles but my favourites of his this year were the Ariel tracks

Cops Shot the Kid is basically the only song from Nasir I remember :rip:

Charcoal Baby is great. Wish the album was more like it :katie:

poppy's persona is way too boring to be genuinely creepy and unsettling so i don't rly understand the point... musically a few of her songs this year were so bizarrely good for no reason, this is one of those. charcoal baby, bloom and catch it are v good too

Poppy delivers musically, tbh.  I mean, most of the time.  More than I would like to admit.

Charcoal Baby should be higher, the last minute is gorgeous!!!!

Catch It and Bloom are great too!  Bloom is definitely his best song lyrically and melodically.

I'll try to listen to the beep boop songs I don't recognize.

Bloom :clap3: probably my favorite from that album

Bloom is indeed Troye’s best 2018 song. But not the only one with oomph.

Charcoal Baby is cute but didn’t leave me any lasting impression like his other songs

Agreed on Bloom being his best song. He's just too vocally lax/dull for majority of the album. Ugh so disappointed in Iceage' return. I wanted them to get darker and stronger with the Nick Cave influence and they delivered some mid/ok.

that poppy song is quite nice actually

Perhaps it's a persona but it doesn't really work like u said. Her album wasn't that good but there are some points. Angel was the first person i thought of when I saw her pictures too.

I'm not gonna tell people I like poppy but yeah she's not horrible. I like the last minute of Charcoal baby too but as a song it's not quite top 100 to me.

That's the main criticism I have for his album. it's just mostly too monotone for me to keep up. Iceage's decline is disappointing.

Surprised at Charcoal Baby being so low  . Can always count on surprises from you :duck:

Cops Shot The Kid was also one of the few songs that stood out in a good way to me too.

Headstone is a knock. Great homage to hip-hop's classics :clap3:

Yeah, CSTK was pretty much the only memorable song from Nasir, even though I didn't think the album is as bad as everyone else did

Catch It is the best song here

Glad that Bloom got recognition from you :clap3: Bottom version of Teenage Dream.  Charcoal Baby was such a good single, I hoped that album would sound like that and Jewelery.
