i find golden hour kinda basic ngl :foot:

surprised to see wet here but maybe i'm biased

what's the third album? don't think i've even seen that cover art before :rip:

Wet may have no talent but they SERVED aesthetics. A Waxahatchee tea

The AESTHETICS you exhibited... all of these covers are a ****ing serve, some should've probably been on my list

well... except Mitski's which sucks and Wet's which is serving [redacted]

Be the MITSKI Cowboy's cover grew on me massively, I don't think any other photo from this shoot would have worked better

cover earla well jest interesujący! i mitski byłby o wiele lepszy, gdyby zrezygnować z napisów, poza tym pięknie ^-^

Kocham takie nieoczywiste okładki, maybe he snapped

the blue covers really stick out, especially mount eerie's after :heart2:

earl > yves tumor

I had my list ready for about a week but didn't realize THAT many covers were blue until I was making this post :dies:

Earl snapped but the photoshoot for SITHOL is my favorite in years :jonny:

I have to scream every time I see that Yves and Earl album together with those blur frames. It's like Yves is popping up trying to scare Earl who is running away in fear.

Outside of that, LOVE the color coordination. Weirdly, I think the DJ Koze album cover may be my favorite.

:dies:

Knock Knock's cover is so underappreciated :jonny: And it fits the music so well

the rest tho.. we had to stan

I mean it may be just a photo of his fridge but I find it extremely personal and somewhat important in the context of the album (and not only the album). And on top of that it's serving cute aesthetics so there you have it :fan:

Spoiler

What I like about this EP is that it gets just as colorful as it could, despite being so lo-fi. Even the 9-minute closing track, which is pure noise, has so much warmth in it.

With a proper budget finally being there, the queen of bounce is on top of her game. Polished production works in Freedia's favor - not only does it make her bops radio-ready (but like, in a good way), but also brings her personality to the forefront.

Spoiler

The only person other than Shygirl who wouldn't be scared to jump on beats that goes just as hard and at the same time would completely own them is Danny Brown.

Oh bitch this is a serve! Some top-notch classic neo-soul/r&b but with a modern twist

Even inbetween the albums miss Hval is keeping the children fed. With 'The Long Sleep,' one of her three 2018 releases (the other two being a book and a collaborative EP), she once again nails the craft of adventurous and conceptual works.

Benja is one of the most promising artists at the moment. His debut project for Young Turks is a journey through slick r&b jams to more experimental (but not de facto experimental) autotune-heavy stuff. While on paper that might not sound exactly exciting, it does work incredibly well.

This is sort of the opposite to last year's 'Aromanticism'. But while 'Black in Deep Red, 2014' is definitely more aggressive and radical, those two still exist in the same spectrum. And this is why I like this so much - Moses is one of those artists who, when take new musical directions, are still true to themselves to the point where you can tell "yep, that's definitely them" upon first hearing their new music.

If ATRL can make Ava Max happen then we can also try(.m4a) to make Hatchie the new it girl, huh? I've seen the comparisons to classic dream pop acts and modern pop girls (but, you know, only the good ones) being thrown around so many time, but omg, if this isn't accurte, then I don't know what is.

This is what music from the future sounds like.

Honestly this feels more complete and is more satisfying than most archetypical ~pop~ albums. I'm mostly talking about the tracklisting, which is well balanced with there's being just as much place for obvious hits and for experimentation. That aside though, WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA know how to approach in a new, interesting and most importantly FRESH way genres that could feel tired at this point.

Posted

ravyn and jenny are the only ones I've heard, but both were p good

Posted

oh, i posted too late. well, those ones are good too (i haven't heard #5)

Smerz ughhhhh their serve! Same with Hatchie. Also Wednesday Campanella... they deserve! but also I only listened to it like twice in full ?

Posted

Ravyn :somepoints~1:

Jenny and Moses :yas~1:

1010 Benja SL :kylie~1:

Smerz invented indieheauxs didn't they?

Hatchie was snubbed and I'm kinda shook at Wednesday Campanella being #1, but deserved

Might have to check out the first three EPs

Posted

Hatchie is officially the new it girl of ATRL. The payola worked :clap3:

Moses and Smerz snapped, I'll check out that Two Houses EP soon :celestial5:
