Staryu Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 I'm a flop and have not heard of most of those movies except Unsane, Burning, and Roma. I haven't seen any of them but I do plan on watching Roma since its on Netflix.
DAP Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Enjoyed Roma a lot more than Gravity. Cuaron did that, but it’s going empty-handed at the Oscars sans maybe cinematography.

Haven't watched any of the others tho Yas I've been meaning to wait for 'The Favorite/Shoplifters' screeners to leak for like a potential late addition but well... Most of the films there are already out/online (s/o to @Monster Boy for the Custody recommendation ) On 12/16/2018 at 7:38 AM, Wicked said: Support The Girls & Roma! I had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Bujalski after the STG screening and he is lovely, answered all of my questions & gave me an autograph. He got a bit of trouble because he wanted the film built around a black woman, but stuck to his guns and got it made. I just downloaded AEST. Are we surprised... Nice to hear he's a cool dude, he's definitely on my radar! I hope you'll like AEST! How wrong i was As much as i'm indifferent to Netflix, i'm impressed with the way they've been promoting the movie. Though i doubt it'll get Best Picture, Cuarón absolutely deserves to win best director! He doesn't have any competition... and Yalitza>>> The other actresses
Wicked Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 FOMO'd? Fear of missing out? I like the ones I've heard, #41 has a interesting cover lol.

But I hate that this is the one fomos chose to obsess over… It’s not FUNNY it’s too loud, the acting is bad, the plot is boring, their vision of a “dark” comedy and the lack of self-awareness is all laughable… and not in a good way. But sure stick it to the sjws1!11!1!1!!
Leptine Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Quote Top 10 Disappointments Of The Year (TV): 9) Maniac – Netflix 7) The Purge – USA 4) La Casa De Las Flores – Netflix 1) Here And Now – HBO Agree with these, except for 'La Casa De Las Flores' that I found enjoyable.

Maddox Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 (edited) TV: #20 - #16 20. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - CW: After the disappointing and almost frustrating season 3 ending, the beloved CW rom-com/drama/musical came back on top again dealing with the aftermath of Rebecca pleading guilty to the murder of her crazy stalker. First of all, I’m glad we only got one episode of her going to jail. At the beginning it felt like her journey towards honesty and making up with her past was a little superficial and self-absorbed. Thankfully those fears were squashed! Every episode is a delight, from the music to the storylines. The special care the show has for its characters is beautiful You can tell there’s a lively energy going on. And despite her faults, Rebecca and the people around her are all evolving for an even better version of themselves. Even Josh is kinda reflecting on his behavior. I'm hyped to see how it all ends! 19. Sally4Ever – Sky/HBO: This is like the only show on my list that made me laugh out loud throughout its run It’s sick, disgusting, crazy, brilliant all of that! You got these respected British actors doing some of the nastiest **** on TV, it feels a bit more explicit for HBO’s standards lol. The story is about a miserable bored woman named Sally who abandons her partner and gets in a new relationship with a very twisted lady. Both Davis and Shepherd are ****ing good here! Especially the latter playing the straight man which is hard when you got that type of dialogue Anyway i loved this show a lot, it probably deserves to be higher, and I’m definitely downloading Davis’ other work! 18. Insecure - HBO: Third season was my favorite (which is ironic since I put S2 way higher lol). First, the decision of leaving Lawrence behind for a while was very beneficial. I thought the Issa/Daniel drama was handled very well, at least we know why they can’t be together despite how much they share in common. Molly’s issues on her new firm was one of my favorite storylines this season, I like it when any show in general addresses the specific issue of being too ambitious in your field. It’s an angle that’s rarely explored on TV, especially on comedies. Kelli facing the new reality in reference to her friendship with Tiffany and the latter’s pregnancy was very touching. And last but not least Issa’s evolution on this season! I’m glad she finally decided to leave We Got Y'all, there was nothing new to add there so a new setting was much more welcomed + refreshing, and her new relationship with Nathan offered three 10/10 episodes ("High-Like", “Fresh-Like”, "Obsessed-Like") + another Emmy FYC worthy moments from Issa Rae. Can’t wait for S4! 17. Inside No. 9 – BBC Two: This is what the Duplass bros think they are/were doing with that try hard pretentious garbage that is Room 104 and failed. A clever yet unsettling half hour anthology that manages to shock, surprise and delight you at the same time. Although Shearsmith & Pemberton’s offering has yet to beat the masterpiece that is “The 12 Days of Christine” they still came close with the sweet lighthearted, shakespeare inspired “Zanzibar” and the devastating “Bernie Clifton’s Dressing Room” (I dare you not to shed a tear at that one) 16. Baskets - FX: s/o to @Wicked and @Mr Greenbird (the only people who have seen it) for recommending this to me. I remember being unimpressed by the pilot when I first seen it. If it wasn’t for those two talking about it (and that one publication who compared it to Enlightened) I wouldn’t get back it to it, but I’m glad i did! It’s an intimate and gentle portrayal of family bonding, despair, and communication. Despite them all trying to get the family rodeo business thriving, they all seemed lost and far from each other. And Christine ugh… That woman has been through enough. If that thanksgiving episode didn’t get you in your feels then I don’t know what to tell you. After all the sacrifices she made, she deserves better than those kids. Also let’s not forget about Martha, she needs to find happiness as well. I’m mad none of these YELs highlighted the show or Louie Anderson’s insane work on the season, and yet they still whine abt peak TV!11!!!! Edited December 18, 2018 by Maddox

Leptine Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Not you putting 'Succession' out of the top20 after hyping the whole show for all the Summer, it deserved top10 at least, I-
Eeveelution Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Lady. Laura snapped on Late to the Flight, but I didn't really go back to the album that much. Cauiton is nice, Mariah made a few points this year. Crazy-ex has been good this season, but it's the last one so I'm gonna need them to step it up for the second half.
