But it did feel a bit weirdly paced sometimes. I only saw the first half of B99 recent season but i think it's still going strong. it's just such an easy watch. Killing Eve only HM's? I'm literally mad. My favorite show this year, easily. Same goes for 9-1-1, but it's more a guilty pleasure watch for me. I enjoyed GLOW's second season even more than the first one tbh, it was more consistent with it's characters and stories. Forever was GREAT. It took a lot of risks, which I really appreciated. Fred's style is not my type of comedy really, his character annoyed me. Maya is literally a goddess and only deserves good things. Aaaaand... I totally forgot about High Maintenance but I liked it's first TV season, so I should catch up huh

Maddox Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 (edited) TV #25 - #21: (will get these out of the way, then i'll do the rest next week!) 25. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – Amazon Prime: Look, this show has too many flaws I get it, but I’m willing to forget about all that just for its lead alone. It reminds me of the time when Veep used to good and the conversation around the comedy lead actress nomination starts, you just couldn’t dare say anyone was better than Julia Louis-Dreyfus ‘cause she was THAT good, every year she brought something fresh and bold to that category no one else could compare. That’s the same way I feel about Rachel. I know there will come a time when the Brosnahan fever will cool down but for now she’s unstoppable! Overall, i didn’t mind the Paris/Catskills episodes; ASP’s dreamy version of the former is less cringy (tsk tsk Weiner) Zachary Levi is a dream, Tony Shalhoub deserves an Emmy for his workout scene alone. The rest of the cast is good but let’s hope the Joel appearances will be kept to a minimum, enough is enough! The season hits its peak at the touring ep, but all in all this has been a joy to watch. If you’re in the mood for a show that makes you uncontrollably smile, this is the one! (I was going to talk about how great her stand up is, but the notorious OMH Emily Nussbaum said: "it's like a Ted Talk with some f words" and she was kinda right lol) 24. Girl From Tokyo – Amazon Prime: If you got nothing planned for the weekend. I’d suggest you prepare yourself a hot cup of tea, get in a comfy blanket, and spend the next five hours on this sweet half hour drama. Story wise, it’s your standard ‘small town girl tries to make it big in the city’ but what sets this one apart is the way it presents a fresh real look at the city of Tokyo. It’s beautifully shot, the sights, the food, everything about is gorgeous.mp3. It almost serves as a tourism ad for the city but you don’t mind. We follow Aya’s journey as she tries to juggle between her personal and professional life in the span of 20 years, and each time she climbs the social ladder is represented by the new neighborhood she moves into. It’s admirable to see a female centric show where her work actually plays a huge part in the plot. The show also deals with themes like the price of being too ambitious, this indirect competition women have against each other in all aspects, the difficulties of settling down/finding a partner and more. And get this: IT DOESN’T HAVE A TOP 40 SOUNDTRACK!!!!! I mean what are y’all waiting for?? Watch this now!! (This technically counts as a 2016 release in Japan, but since Prime released it in on april I’m counting it for this year) 23. Bad Banks – Hulu: Working on finance has never looked more exciting as in this 6 episodes thriller about an ambitious girl ruining the german economy full of twists and turns. This was branded as the German Billions, but I doubt that one has Paula Beer. I’m glad this has been renewed for a second season! 22. Succession – HBO: Another one that’s been linked to Billions (I'm going to start that show soon). Sure, rich white people problems sounds like a turn off but what I like most about it is that it doesn’t sympathize with these characters, it highlights very well how absurd their actions are. You know they’re weak, spoiled assholes and we like it when they make dumb mistakes. The show clicked with me ever since the second episode, I’m glad it became THE summer sensation. Hyped for the second season where cousin Greg will take over that empire! 21. American Vandal – Netflix: SCREW Y’ALL FOR MAKING THIS FLOP AND GETTING LITERAL DONKEY SH*T LIKE INSATIABLE RENEWED !!! Off all the teen related crap on that dumpster of a platform. This had the most accurate, realistic depiction of ~teen culture. I’ve never felt more terrified about the dangers of the internet until I finished this season. The case this year was even more engaging than the dick drawings. Like Gags once said: “one second I’m making fun of true crime docuseries suddenly the TC docuseries is me” I hope this finds a second home Edited December 12, 2018 by Maddox

I totally forgot about High Maintenance but I liked it's first TV season, so I should catch up huh I sensed the same thing during the middle, everything involving shea whigham was kind of a drag. Howerer the direction and the ending made up for it! Yup i often turn to b99 when i'm feeling down, it's really good! I love Killing Eve but the final episode were kinda messy so... I desperatly wanted to find a spot for 9-1-1 but alas. It will get a shoutout on my official list tho! If it wasn't for Maron's repulsive character, GLOW would've joined the bunch nnn i liked Fred Armisen's character I thought it worked quite well in the context of the show, i wish the Globes would at least recognize Maya (knowing the Emmys will probably forget abt her). As for High Maintenance at least watch the premiere, it's brilliant! 14 hours ago, KasioKas said: I KNEW you would do this to Killing Eve I hate you. Staryu Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I love The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel so much, mainly because of Rachel and the late 50s setting. The Catskills episode alone was so fascinating, a whole new world to me

I'm sure it can find somewhere else tbh, Amazon needs to pick that up immediately. Julia wasn't even a top 3 performer on Homecoming for me personally, so all this hype... Excited for the rest!! The recaps are great but this rando The Young Pope stanning
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 12, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2018 I loved mrs maisel! nn I see the thing about her stand up but the show is pretty hilarious

Wicked Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Support The Girls & Roma! I had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Bujalski after the STG screening and he is lovely, answered all of my questions & gave me an autograph. He got a bit of trouble because he wanted the film built around a black woman, but stuck to his guns and got it made. I just downloaded AEST.
