Top 100 Singles: 80 - 71

80. The Chainsmokers f. Emily Warren - Side Effects

Zero Charts Peak: N/A

So Random C/D Peak: N/A

This song took awhile for me to get into, which is why it didn't chart on my countdown. TCS honestly realized too late that people only wanted the collabs from them, and party music, and as I mentioned before, I feel bad for Emily because she clearly had no problem collaborating with them to get herself more exposure and this couldn't even crack the Top 40. Anyways, I'll make sure to finally add it to my iTunes library so that at least I can put it in a HAC style playlist.

Second of three appearances by The Chainsmokers. Only appearance by Emily Warren

79. Steve Aoki f. Ina Wroldsen - Lie To Me

Zero Charts Peak: #11

So Random C/D Peak: #6

Plays: 64 (no certification)

Steve Aoki has kind of been on a roll lately with his collabs. I haven't heard the BTS one, but his collabs with Louis, Lauren, and this Ina chick were actually pretty nice. While this is my least favorite of the three, it's still a nice bop and I definitely would recommend putting it on your party playlist.

First of two appearances by Steve Aoki. Only appearance by Ina Wroldsen.

78. Kelly Clarkson - Never Enough

Zero Charts Peak: N/A

So Random C/D Peak: N/A

Took me a bit to like this one as well, but I'm able to listen to it now. One of the better covers on that album.

Final appearance by Kelly Clarkson.

77. Julia Michaels - Heaven

Zero Charts Peak: #24

So Random C/D Peak: #10

Plays: 84 (no certification)

In all honesty, this was the last time I genuinely enjoyed one of Julia's songs. Fifty Shades Freed had some good singles, but I'm really mad at how all of them were screwed over by the label and movie promotions. We went from having Top 3 singles on BOTH of the previous movie releases, to not a single Top 40 entry this time. I feel bad for Julia, Hailee, Liam and Rita because they ALL needed this movie soundtrack for their careers, and they were all screwed over. Anyways, nice listen, deserved better on the charts.

Only appearance by Julia Michaels.

76. Paramore - Rose-Colored Boy

Zero Charts Peak: #36

So Random C/D Peak: #9

Plays: 36 (no certification)

I knew this would be a single eventually. It was one of the most radio friendly of the songs on AL. However, I wasn't really able to maintain an interest in listening to this like their other songs. Hard Times, Told You So and Fake Happy remain the trinity of singles for this album.

Final appearance by Paramore

75. Jack & Jack - No One Compares To You

Zero Charts Peak: #13

So Random C/D Peak: #9

Plays: 89 (no certification)

Jack & Jack got a bit more exposure pop wise this year thanks to their Jonas Blue collab, so I was definitely ready for their next single when it came around. No rapping in this song, so it seems they are taking the Jake Miller route and not rapping anymore. This song is pretty average at best. They sound just fine, but the breakdown is pretty weak. The verses are the best part. I think honestly, they can deliver much better than this, so hopefully something good comes in 2019.

First of two appearances by Jack & Jack.

74. Katy Perry - Hey Hey Hey

Zero Charts Peak: #13

So Random C/D Peak: #5

Plays: 107 (no certification)

Charting in almost an identical spot from last year is Katy Perry. Nothing more than a cute song that aged like milk in all honesty. It won't be missed as we head into 2019, 2 years since Witness's release.

Only appearance by Katy Perry

73. Jake Miller - Be Alright

Zero Charts Peak: N/A

So Random C/D Peak: N/A

Jake Miller has been all about finding silver linings in his music this year. That type of positivy was needed this year in my life. I said before that I was gonna be diving into my vulnerable side on this best of this year, and we are slowly getting there. But what I'm gonna say about this song is that it shares themes with songs that will be higher up (MUCH higher up) on my list this year. Jake is also around the same age as me so a song with this message was well needed this year. And his music in general was a much needed ray of sunshine, this song included.

First of four appearances by Jake Miller.

72. Kim Petras - Heart To Break

Zero Charts Peak: #7

So Random C/D Peak: #2

Plays: 153 (certified Gold)

First song to be certified to show up here. Unlike most of ATRL, I'm not going to give Kim Petras the cold shoulder just because she's worked with Dr. Luke. Unfortunately, her being transgender gives her less opportunities than a cisgender woman in the music industry. And sadly I think Dr. Luke took advantage of that. He may not have done anything to Kim in the way that he did Kesha, but I definitely think he took advantage of the fact that Kim would have a much harder time making it in the music business than Kesha ever did. That being said, Kim makes some very catchy music. This song being one of them, but I also think that the message is very crappy - allowing a ****ty guy to break your heart. I guess we have all done that. But it still is a sucky message to send across.

First of two appearances by Kim Petras

71. Shawn Mendes f. Zedd - Lost In Japan Remix

Zero Charts Peak: N/A

So Random C/D Peak: N/A

Yeah, Shawn should be thankful Zedd was here to remix this otherwise boring song. A decent radio song, and that's pretty much. This actually is similar to Let's Get Lost and One More Red Light in terms of subject, but even more broader. And just like with Cassadee, Carly does this better. I'll save the rest of my opinions on Shawn for later.

First of two appearances by Shawn Mendes. First of three appearances by Zedd

I've grown to enjoy the remix of LIJ more than the original tbh, which is something I never I thought I would.

Heaven is one of the best songs released this year. I don't know how the management screwed this up honestly.

MLD's Top 100: 70 - 61

70. G-Eazy f. Halsey - Him & I

Zero Charts Peak: #10

So Random C/D Peak: #7

Plays: 136 (no certification)

This song came pretty close to 20 weeks on my Zero Charts and pretty close to being certified Gold (150 plays or more). When I'm in the mood, this song knocks. But it's already aged like milk because of the break-up, and because the song goes on longer than it should honestly.

Only appearance by G-Eazy. Second of four appearances by Halsey

69. Zedd f. Elley Duhe - Happy Now

Zero Charts Peak: #12

So Random C/D Peak: #6

Plays: 59 (no certification)

This song is very cute and is a very nice listen, but the song is a major step down from The Middle. The chorus and the verses sound like two different songs and this song doesn't really have a nice outro. The autotune was too much. Elley Duhe thankfully has a much better EDM collab later on in this countdown.

Second of three appearances by Zedd. First of two appearances by Elley Duhe

68. Jake Miller - Drinkin About You

Zero Charts Peak: #11

So Random C/D Peak: #6

Plays; 152 (certified Gold)

Jake Miller was independent for most of 2018. That pretty much allowed him to release music that was more mature than what he had released when he was on Warner. The music video for this song is pretty much a step up for him since it's slightly more sexual in addition to the fact that he actually shows himself drinking at a bar. That being said, I'm fine with leaving this song in 2018. It's a nice listen for summer nights, and I'm sure we all have had our ex problems. He has another song on this list though that covered the subject a little better and is closer to being certified Platinum (300 plays). This song, left my chart after 17 weeks, and a gold certification is more than enough.

Second of four appearances by Jake Miller

67. NF - Let You Down

Zero Charts Peak: #41

So Random C/D Peak: N/A

Plays: 14 (no certification)

I really slept on this song all year. And it's sad because I actually can relate to this song a lot due to the troubled relationship I have with my Mom. The message of this song reminds me of Perfect by Simple Plan, another song I relate to a lot. And on top of that, NF's flow on this song is great. He's not mumbling, and you can actually understand what he is saying. One of the few rappers to serve quality this year. TWICE, I may add.

First of two appearances by NF.

66. Ashley Tisdale - Voices In My Head

Zero Charts Peak: #13

So Random C/D Peak: #7

Plays: 53 (no certification yet)

***Still charting on both countdowns, play count will inevitably increase***

I'm not gonna lie, I was a bit underwhelmed by this track at first. After a 9 year absence from music (7 really if you count Gonna Shine from the solo Sharpay film) I was expecting something better. However, the song grew on me after I watched some of Ashley's interviews regarding the song. It allowed me to relate to the song more because she wants her music these days to actually positively impact people who suffer from depression and anxiety. And I feel like I suffered from both a lot this year. Voices In My Head is another one of those songs that goes into the overall theme that I really connected with this year - keeping your head up. And I'm slowly beginning to explain why I've needed that message so strongly in multiple songs on this list. And I'm looking forward to what Ashley releases next year. I could use the brightness.

Only appearance by Ashley Tisdale

65. Cheat Codes f. Little Mix - Only You

Zero Charts Peak: #17

So Random C/D Peak: #4

Plays: 86 (no certification)

I really liked this collab at first, but then I got bored of it quickly as summer came to a close. Very upbeat and cute, but that's it honestly. The music video is nice though

Only appearance by Cheat Codes and final appearance by Little Mix

64. Dua Lipa & Blackpink - Kiss And Make Up

Zero Charts Peak: #17

So Random C/D Peak: #4

Plays: 71 (no certification yet)

***still charting***

Dua Lipa's final appearance is her duet with Blackpink. And yeah...she got overshadowed on her own song. They sounded better on it than her. But at least she finally had a decent bop again where she didn't sound bored. Her second best single after New Rules. But again, Blackpink had the best parts.

Final appearance of Dua Lipa and only appearance by Blackpink

63. Madison Beer f. Offset - Hurts Like Hell

Zero Charts Peak: #7

So Random C/D Peak: #3

Plays: 74

***still charting***

I have to give it up to Madison for continuing to release music despite being independent, and taking control of her image at 19. She's gorgeous and her music has really matured over the last year. She's coming into her own. This song goes off, but it lacks that final big chorus that it needed to really PUNCH. But she clearly has potential.

First of two appearances by Madison Beer and only appearance by Cardi's ex.

62. Martin Jensen f. Olivia Holt - 16 Steps

Zero Charts Peak: #5

So Random C/d Peak: #4

Plays: 76 (no certification)

Olivia Holt isn't someone I particularly care for music wise, but this EDM collab she did was actually pretty decent. This was another one of those summer bops that once it got retired from my countdown, there wasn't enough replay value to keep playing it into fall. I have a feeling it will end up being forgotten by me after the Best of section closes. Regardless, summer 2018 went by too fast and at least this was part of it.

Only appearances by Martin Jensen & Olivia Holt

61. Liam Payne f. J Balvin - Familiar

Zero Charts Peak: #5

So Random C/D Peak: #5

Plays: 305 (certified Platinum)

Our first platinum entry goes to Liam Payne and J Balvin. In all honesty, Liam Payne is probably one of my main crushes at the moment. So this song was able to last well into the fall, long enough to finally go Platinum this month. This is the only song released this year in which the Spanish singing was able to grow on me. The song is hot, so it's not difficult to fantasize to it. Now that it's platinum, I'm finally ready to say goodbye to it. Liam is actually the only member of 1D to have four of his songs go Platinum in my plays (and one of them will be seen later on).

First of three appearances by Liam Payne. Final appearance by J Balvin

This is a huge bop. I never bothered checking for it, then I heard it on the radio and was shook. Beyoncé & JayZ found dead.
