If Janet had released another studio album in the mid 90s she would have challenged mariah in terms of number of top 5 hits. Queen easily got 4  to 5 top 5 hits from her albums back then

State of the World, Whoops Now, Throb, Go Deep weren't even eligible singles, so she may have gotten even closer.

But If she had released albums in 93/96/99 instead

:jonny:

She got 2 more from RN and 3 from AFY, so really she got 16 from 1989-2001 off 4.5 albums while Mariah got 15 from 1990-2002 off 9.5 albums. :cm:

Madonna got 15 from 1989-2001 off 7.5

Whitney got 14 from 1987-1999 from 5 albums

Yeah. Her hot 100 success was really something else.

Janet should have 12 because I Get Lonely peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 in 1998.

Yes I'm aware that there was a TNT remix for it that featured Blackstreet but if you're gonna include Mariah Carey's Honey which also had a remix featuring Mase on the list then Janet's should be included too.

Billboard credits the remix on IGL and not Honey even though both had the remixes on the original single.

Link for this billboard credit? They can't have it both ways tbh, either both get included or removed from the list. So inconsistent with their formula.

EDIT:

Wow, just look how Billboard is missing I Get Lonely completely on Janet's chart entries on their site, plus The Velvet Rope album is completely missing on her BB 200 albums chart. They really need to update Janet's chart entries better.

What's funny is the preview for the song on that link links to the original solo version of the song. Billboard does Janet so wrong sometimes with their charts (e.g. her credit on Diamonds)
