Yeah

Yeah. BB says SOY is only the 18th single to double the points of the #2 songsince the Hot 100 switched to electronic tracking on 30 November 1991. I'd share the link to the article, but I haven't seen my laptop's power cord since moving over the past week. Since my Thesis is also on that computer, I need to find that cord ASAP.

Thank you. I also see someone started a thread on this topic. UF also had huge point totals during its stay at #1. But the three #2s (wks 1-2), TOL (wks 3-10), and Sugar (wks 11-14) were also massive hits.

Also, Thrift Shop had an almost 2:1 lead over the #2 song prior to Baauer's crazy viral numbers (and thankfully mostly forgotten) over TS. So there was a huge gap between #1 and #3 at HS and TS peaks.

Yeah

oh c'mon now. You cannot know that for sure. She could release a video today and it could go viral.

That's unlikely to happen, but my point is  - stick to the week to week predictions, doing long term predictions is pointless.

You literally said 2 weeks ago, Rockabye has no chance of reaching top 10 and it's now in the top 10 :fan:

You also said CTTR is doing at least 140k first week and made fun of me when I said it's doing less.

my thoughts exactly. he might be able to predict next weeks charts but hes not a psychic so in reality anything could happen. will LOTB hit number one? probably not. does sim know that for sure. nah. could rihanna release an epic music video and see a surge in sales and streaming? sure. why not.

I know this is directed to simmnfierzig and I do think that making long term predictions is hard and the result can be innaccurate but LOTB really has no chances of going #1.

I'm pretty sure that he said that Rockabye was not going top 10 because he didn't expect it to get discounted which is the reason why it made it this week.

The CTTR case is different because it was the prediction for a new song, there was not much to back it up except Katy's popularity and previous chart success but we know that even for huge artists massive success is not a given and an underperformance can happen.

Now the thing with LOTB is that it is already peaking on radio, this was today's update:

RIHANNA - Love On The Brain: 154.248 (- 0.018)

and radio is what is helping that song the most, it is not doing good on Spotify and the iTunes performance is a little weak too, not trying to discredit her, I do think is amazing and impressive that she just got another top 5 but it is over.

Of course if she releases a video it will have a surge on streaming and sales, it will go up on the hot 100 too but have you seen Shape Of You's lead? it's just crazy. You can never know for sure but it would need to get viral in such a massive way, something almost historical for it to dethrone SOY and the chances of that are just extremely small.

Still, it's chart run is impressive anyway.

First of all. Yes I hate doing long term predictions cause you never know what will happen. But that's like 80% of the question directed at me here.

But 2 weeks before that I said "sure why not" on if Rockabye could go top 10. But then it was nearing it's peak and I said no. They threw the discount in there at the perfect time and I didn't see that coming at all :michael:

The under performance of CTTR is still shocking to me, but yeah obviously predicting something that isn't even out is nearly impossible. Just felt very confident in that.

But LOTB is peaking on radio and is at 40% of the points of SOY. A video and a discount don't more than double the points of a song this late into it's run.

Say video and discount happen in 2 or 3 weeks. SOY would have to fall down fast, LOTB would need to have great longevity on radio, discount would need to have a massive effect and the video views would have to be amazing to have the slightest chance.

Lean On I think it was?

Were the views were counted, then not counted, then counted again. It had a pretty weird chart run because of that.

It happened to Post Malone - White Iverson and Meek Mill - All Eyes On You as well where their full Youtube figures weren't being counted. And in both cases I think it effected their peak positions.

So the views for That's what I like video in the first two weeks will never be counted WTF, just to show how flawed this counting streams formula, the funny thing is that BB is totally ignoring it, they have never addressed that something like this has happened and how it can affect any song's position on the charts. :deadbanana2:

That sounds arrogant

Probably realistic but arrogant, you are probably right but I'd like LOTB to go #1 just to prove you wrong even though it's not happening
