People are listening to more music, but less frequently. As users are able to Discover new music much easier, they're less inclined to stream the same album and even new releases more than a few times. In a year those statistics (which are fairly new, just like the streaming market itself) could change drastically and we'll know whether listeners know what they like and what they want or whether they're still as fickle as always. Demographics are also males > females so it's not surprising that the male artists who cater to both sex have the most listeners upon release. Females artists, in contrast, are not as popular as they once were with their own female users let alone males.
