DRjuss06 Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 DRjuss06's Weekly Top 25 Today I will be posting two charts because (1) I was too lazy last week to finish the chart and (2) I am making a few changes. Usually my charts run from Monday- Sunday, along with the tracking the same way, using the actual week I post it (or supposed to) as the week it ends, so for example, the first chart below covers the tracking week of April 17-23rd but it is dated ending April 30th. I am moving to a more "billboard" like tracking week from Friday- Thursday because it is easier to track and because it has become slightly "unfair" for songs to debut on the chart lower than expected because they only have 3 days of tracking instead of 7, hence why in the past two years only one-two songs have debuted at #1, and even then, when Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" debuted at #1 earlier this year, it did so because I was issues tracking Airplay and Video Plays so I withheld it's points for the following week, therefore the song essentially would've debuted between 11-15 but I only posted a top 10 the week since I didn't have enough time. Making the changes will also allow me to have the weekend to post the chart as doing it during the week is quite hard due to my job and I have weekends off. Now, I contemplated withholding the chart and making a tracking week from April 17- 27, so technically 11 days but I remember that when I reverted my chart back in 2013 to a weekly chart from a daily chart, the first tracking week included 11 days, so to be fair my 2nd chart posted today only includes 4 tracking days, April 24- April 27th, 2017 with a chart date of May 1st- May 4th, 2017. Back to the chart, for the week ending April 30th, Kendrick Lamar rose 2-1 earning his first chart topper on my chart as a solo artist and his 3rd after Taylor's "Bad Blood" and Sia's "The Greatest." The song reigns supreme due to Airplay as I played that album over and over that week and it is one of my favorite songs. It also rose to #1 on Video Plays. "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi rose 3-2, while John Mayer fell 1-3 with "Still Feel Like Your Man" while Bruno rose 6-4, returning to the top 5 after one week. John remained at #5 with LOTW. Outside of the top 5, Harry Styles rose 7-6, Alessia and Zedd jump 14-7, a new peak after #8 a few weeks ago and Kendrick scored another top 10 with DNA. as it rose 13-8. Lorde dropped 4-9 and Rihanna 8-10. Lady Gaga debuted at #15 with "The Cure" while Lana Del Rey debuted at #25 with "Lust For Life." These two songs are prime examples of what I explained above as the chart tracking being unfair to songs, especially for Lana. Katy & The Weeknd dropped off that week. See below for next week's explanation. Week of April 24- April 30, 2017 #1: Last Week: 2: Peak: 1: Humble.- Kendrick Lamar (NEW PEAK) (NEW CHART TOPPER) #2: Last Week: 3: Peak: 1 [x6 wks]: Despacito- Luis Fonsi feat. Future #18: Last Week: 18: Peak: 18: Never On The Day You Leave- John Mayer #19: Last Week: 21: Peak: 15: Light My Body Up- David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj & Lil' Wayne #20: Last Week: 25: Peak: 16: It Ain't Me- Kygo & Selena Gomez #21: Last Week: 16: Peak: 4: Paris- The Chainsmokers #22: Last Week: 19: Peak: 15: Castle On The Hill- Ed Sheeran #23: Last Week: 20: Peak: 15: Passionfruit- Drake #24: Last Week: 22: Peak: 6: Slide- Calvin Harris feat. Frank Ocean & Migos #25: Last Week: NEW: Peak: 25: Lust For Life- Lana Del Rey feat. The Weeknd (NEW PEAK) DROP- OFF: - CHAINED BY THE RHYTHM- KATY PERRY FEAT. SKIP MARLEY- PEAK: 4 - I FEEL IT COMING- THE WEEKND FEAT. DAFT PUNK- PEAK: 5 Aided by its Justin Bieber remix, "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee return to #1 for 7 nonconsecutive weeks. I did not "add" Bieber to the chart as I usually don't add remixes unless (1) the Remix takes over the original in contributing points (which did not happen this week, and will not likely happen honestly, the song scored 6 weeks on top on its own and I'm still not tired of it), or (2) if the Remix happens to be quite different from the original, then I will separate both songs and rank them separately. The first scenario has happened a few times in the past but I usually restart the chart run of the song in the present chart and use the cumulative points for both songs for the year-end chart rankings, for example, "E.T." by Katy Perry had a separate chart run in 2010 than the "E.T. (Remix)" featuring Kanye West in 2011. The second scenario has only happened once (I think) with "Do What U Want" by Lady Gaga feat. R. Kelly. The song spent a "then" record of 9 weeks on top, aided by a Rick Ross Remix as well (like this week), but when she debuted another version with Christina Aguilera," that song ended up peaking at #6, and actually charted simultaneously. I deemed both versions to be substantially different. With the Bieber Remix, I don't think it is substantially different. Only one verse was changed and both artist, Fonsi & Yankee are in the Remix as well. Back to the chart, the song is only the 8th song to spend 7 weeks or more on top, and extends its record as the longest running #1 of 2017 and the longest running Spanish song on top. Kendrick drops 1-2 after one week on top with "Humble." but rises 8-6 with "DNA." and returns to the top 10 with "Loyalty." feat. Rihanna as it rises 11-10. Bruno Mars rises 4-3 with TWIL and John Mayer drops 3-4 with SFLYM after spending one week on top two weeks ago. Alessia Cara & Zedd rise 7-5 with "Stay." The song is the highest ranking song by Alessia. Harry Styles drops 6-7 while Mayer drops 5-8 with LOTW. Lorde stays at #9. This is a very strong Top 10, just like last week. Lady Gaga rises 15-12 with "The Cure" while Lana Del Rey & The Weekend rise 25-16 with "Lust For Life." Selena Gomez & Kygo rise 20-15 with "It Ain't Me," surpassing the #16 peak of the song. Carla Morrison debuts at #22 with "Un Beso." I've been slightly addicted to her music lately so expect more. This is her first song to rank in my chart. DRjuss06 Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 DRjuss06's Weekly Top 25, Week of May 5th- May 11th, 2017 Obviously I did not make the weekend deadline last weekend, here we go again lol "Despacito" spends an 8th nonconsecutive week. The song, which is aided by the Justin Bieber Remix (which only accounts for 20 percent of the total points), ties Calvin Harris & Rihanna with 8 weeks on top for 3rd place of the longest-running #1s on my chart. The song also enters the top 5 of the longest-running #1s on my weekly chart. The song also matches Calvin & Rihanna's "This Is What You Came For" as the longest-running #1s in a SINGLE year. DRjuss06 Posted May 19, 2017 Author Posted May 19, 2017 DRjuss06's Weekly Top 25, Week of May 12th- May 18th, 2017 Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" spends a 9th nonconsecutive week on top matching Lady Gaga's "Do What U Want" feat. R. Kelly and "Starboy" by The Weeknd feat. Daft Punk as the songs with 2nd longest-running on top on my chart. Only Ariana Grande feat. The Weeknd's "Love Me Harder" has spent more time on top with 10 weeks. Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee further extend their lead as the longest-running Spanish song on my chart, but also set a new record as the longest-running song in a single year. All the songs mentioned above had their time on top split in two years, "Despacito" has been on top since non-consecutively since the week ending March 5, 2017 and has been in the top 2 for the past 13 weeks, besting the 11 consecutive weeks in the top 2 of "Shape of You," earlier this year. #2 and #3 are stationary with Bruno and Zedd & Alessia. Kendrick once agains rounds up the top 5 but this time, "DNA." switches places with "Humble." as the latter falls 4-5. At #6 is another fast growing Spanish song by Carla Morrison as "Un Beso" rises 9-6. Harry Styles stays put at #7, Lorde falls 6-8 and John Mayer falls 8-10. DRjuss06 Posted May 26, 2017 Author Posted May 26, 2017 DRjuss06's Weekly Top 25, Week of May 19- May 25, 2017 Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" becomes just the 2nd song on my chart to spend at least 10 weeks on top, joining Ariana Grande & The Weeknd's "Love Me Harder." Both songs now share the record for the longest-running songs on my chart. The song is definitely aided by the Remix by Justin Bieber but this week the percentage contributing to it actually dropped, so there's that. Bruno Mars holds at #2 for a 4th non-consecutive week. Zedd & Alessia Cara literally "Stay" at #3 while Kendrick's "Humble." rises 5-4 while his own "DNA." drops 4-7. Carla Morrison enters the top 5 with "Un Beso." The song is her first top 5 on my chart and adds a second Spanish song to the top 5. Shakira's "Me Enamoré" rises 17-15 this week, adding yet another Spanish song to the Top 15. Back to the chart, Lorde rises 8-6 with "Green Light" as the song keeps increasing in Airplay. Harry Styles drops 7-8 but actually increases in Airplay. Lana & The Weeknd stay at #9 and Calvin Harris rises 16-10 with "Slide" as the song continues to increase in Airplay and is having a second wind after peaking at #6. The song barely edges out "Despacito" as the song scored a record-tying 10th week on top last week. For Bruno, the song passes "24K Magic's" peak of #2. TWIL spent 4 nonconsecutive weeks at #2 while 24k spent two last year. At 23 weeks so far this year, the song is only the 6th #1 to hit #1 this year so far. "Despacito" by Fonsi & Yankee drops 1-2, as another Spanish song, "Un Beso" by Carla Morrison rises 5-3. Zedd & Alessia drop 3-4 while Lorde reenters the top 5 with "Green Light" as it rises 6-5. Harry Styles rises 8-6 to a new peak, while Kendrick Lamar drops 4-7 with "Humble" and 7-8 with "DNA." Lana Del Rey & The Weeknd stay at #9 with "Lust For Life" while Lady Gaga returns to the top 10 with "The Cure." Outside of the top 10 there's a lot of action as 6 songs debut this week. Shakira's "Me Enamore" rises 15-12 while David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj & Lil' Wayne rises 18-13 with "Light My Body Up." Another Nicki featured song "Swish Swish" by Katy Perry is the hot shot debut of the week at #14. Camilla Cabello's "Crying In The Club" debuts at #16. The song is the her first song to debut in my chart. Fifth Harmony only charted a couple of songs with her in the group. "Attention" by Charlie Puth, "Strip That Down" by Liam Payne feat. Quavo, "In The Blood" by John Mayer, and "Waterfall" by Stargate feat. Sia & P!nk debut at #s 22-25. Payne follows Harry Styles and ZAYN as the next One Direction member to debut on my chart. Stargate debuts as an artist for the first time ever. #1: Last Week: 2: Peak: 1: That's What I Like- Bruno Mars (1 week @ #1) (NEW PEAK) (NEW CHART TOPPER) #2: Last Week: 1: Peak: 1 [x10 wks]: Despacito- Luis Fonsi feat.
