CHART NOTES
 

• The Weeknd adds another #1 to his career total on this personal list's history. Dating all the way back to his first chart-topper in 2014 as a duet partner on Ariana Grande's "Love Me Harder," Abel Tesfaye has earned 8 #1s in total, including "Can't Feel My Face" (2015), "The Hills" (2015), "Starboy" (2016), "I Feel It Coming" (2017), "Call Out My Name" (2018), and "Blinding Lights" (2020). This ties him with Halsey, who retains the title of having the most chart toppers among solo females, but he remains behind Ed Sheeran (with eleven #1 entries) among solo males.
• DaBaby and Roddy Ricch both earn their first top ten hits on the chart as "Rockstar" rises 11-8. Ricch previously peaked at #13 with "The Box" earlier this year, while DaBaby briefly charted with "Intro" in 2019, peaking at 15 on its debut.
• Lennon Stella earns her first top ten on the chart with "Summer Feelings" from the soundtrack of Scoob! For Stella, this is also her first charting entry in general, as Lennon & Maisie to date have yet to chart. This is also the first top ten for Charlie Puth since 2018's "Done for Me (feat. Kehlani)," which hit #6.

Chart Notes:

 

• With this week, Halsey is the only female artist in the top 5, with her spot as vocalist on Marshmello's "Be Kind." The song appears poised to become the next #1, as it continues to increase in points largely from personal queuing on Spotify. 
• Despite Halsey being the only female in the top five, the rest of the top ten is rounded out with multiple female acts, including former chart-topper "Rain On Me," which slides forward from 7 to 6.
• With both "Summer Feelings" and "Boss Bitch" logging appearances in the top ten at the same time this week, two soundtrack singles chart in the top ten simultaneously for the first time since 2016, with Auli'i Cravalho's "How Far I'll Go" (peak: #3) and Twenty One Pilots' "Heathens" (peak: #1). Coincidentally, both "Heathens" and "Boss Bitch" are from soundtracks of movies starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, from Suicide Squad and Birds Of Prey respectively.

• American EDM duo 100 gecs have pulled off the impossible. With the crowning of "ringtone (Remix)," they have become the first act to debut at #1 on this chart with their first ever charting entry. The honor also extends to both American rapper Rico Nasty and British indie pop trio Kero Kero Bonito, neither of whom had charted prior to this entry either. Charli XCX has several entries to her name, however, including former #1, "Fancy (with Iggy Azalea)" in 2014. In addition, "ringtone (Remix)" is Charli XCX's first charting entry since "Girls," a 2018 collaboration with Rita Ora, Bebe Rexha, and Cardi B, which peaked at #10.
• Conan Grey becomes the next artist to receive a top ten with their first charting entry, as "Maniac" lifts 11-8. In doing so, he becomes the third male solo act to do so in the past 12 months, following former number ones by Lewis Capaldi and Powfu: "Someone You Loved" and "death bed (coffee for your head)" respectively.
• With the extension of the chart to being a top 30, the 2015 Hamilton soundtrack adds another charting entry to its track record, thanks to the film of the stage production being released to Disney+ earlier this month. "Burn" becomes Phillipa Soo's second career entry, following "That Would Be Enough (with Lin-Manuel Miranda)," which peaked at 12 in 2016. To date, the highest charting entry from the 2015 soundtrack has been "My Shot," featuring vocals from Lin-Manuel Miranda, Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs, Okieriete Onaodowan, Leslie Odom, Jr., and Hamilton Original Broadway Cast (#5).
• With the debuts of "hand crushed by a mallet (Remix)" and "xXXi_wud_nvrstøp_ÜXXx (Remix)," 100 gecs also become the first act to debut their first three charting entries in the same charting week.
• With the debut of "The Journey Starts Today" by Walk Off The Earth, this marks the first time a theme related to the Pokemon franchise has charted. This becomes the act's first single to chart since 2012's "Red Hands," which peaked at #15.

The "i wud nvrstop U" (not going to stylize it when typing, f that) remix is pretty straight-forward for them actually. It's straight up Eurodance that I would expect from Basshunter in the mid-2000s tbh. I would also say that "ringtone" is also straightforward as well, in terms of structure in sound. Compared to "hand crushed by a mallet" at least. That one's pretty cacophonous and polarizing, so I can see why anyone might not like it, but... chaotic music is also what I like in general. The remix in particular also just feels like you're standing in between stages of Fall Out Boy and Chiodos at Warped Tour, so... oh well. Again, it's not for everyone.  

 

Also these remixes have introduced me to some good artists' discographies. I never would have heard of Kero Kero Bonito otherwise, and "Flamingo" is such a cute song, I adore it, even though it's from 2014, haha.

• With "Daisies" lifting 4 spaces from 13 to 9, Katy Perry earns her first top ten single **as a solo artist** in almost 3 years since "Swish Swish (feat. Nicki Minaj)" peaked at #10 in 2017. **EDIT: Amended to reflect that Katy Perry has charted in the top ten twice since "Swish Swish," but as a collaborative artist. Once as a feature on "Feels" by Calvin Harris (also featuring Pharrell and Big Sean) which peaked at #1 in 2017, and "Con Calma (Remix)" with Daddy Yankee (featuring Snow) which peaked at #3 in 2019.**
• Upon the top ten entry of "hand crushed by a mallet (Remix)," Fall Out Boy also earn their first top ten hit in 4 years since "Irresistible (feat. Demi Lovato)" peaked at #6 in 2016.
• Rina Sawayama sees no excess in success, as "XS" vaults into the top ten by leaping 4 spots from 11 to 7.
