Its so petty, but the only thing that bothers me with the numbers this era is that Anti didnt top 1M pure. So deserved. It irks me because I have first world problems and need to get my priorities in life straight in contrast to my sexuality. Until that doubtful time however, 700k is just not enough in the end to feed my hunger.

Without a messy giveaway / proper promotion / music videos i feel the album could have done a lot better in sales. Maybe not 1mil but easily 800k+

Without the delays, messy release/giveaway and with discounts (she never discounted the album) + more promo it would've most likely sold 1M or very close to that

 

It will probably end up at 700k in the US which is good given the circumstances & the sales climate, and it goes to show that she can sell albums with little effort

I was bored so I found some data:

Loud shipped 3,0 million units in 2010 and 2,7 million units in 2011, anything else you may read is just fantasy fiction. It reached the overall tally of 6,8 million thanks to very decent catalog sales since 2012.

 

The biggest catalog seller of Rihanna is Loud and that one is selling some 100,000 units worldwide per year. This means 25,000 copies per quarter, half of them being digital copies.

 

Good Girl Gone Bad 2007 album charted all 52 weeks of each 2009, 2010 and 2011 in UK Top 200 album chart plus 30 weeks in 2012 over a 38 weeks time span. This all happened while the singer was releasing one album every year. After she stopped doing so in 2012, Good Girl Gone Bad charted only 1 week in 2013 and none in 2014.
