I hear IFIC so often for a one-week top 10. :toofunny3:

Is it a thing tho? :cm: it's a legitimate hit & going strong on radio. Not being shady but a one week top 10 is great unless it's that First Kiss viral video song :coffee:

Bruno :clap3:

ATRL was SO SURE The Weeknd would DESTROY Bruno...

He can get those SEA by releasing a single every month tho. Slay Abel yasss destroy Bruno with your 18 track album on SPS against his 9 track record !

ps: i also like The Weeknd.

Nothing bad in being smart :cm:

Also I don't really see Bruno having a Starboy sized hit, so. Both are slaying even if in different ways, talented kings of pop :clap3:

Mark Ronson says hello.

Yeah, but since the public really associates UF with its "Featured Artist" Bruno Mars, the fact the UF follow-up, with a not as well known featured singer, failed even after waiting 6 full months (26 weeks) after UF's release wasn't so much Ronson's failure as Mars' incredible achievement.

Remember when ATRL said Closer would be forgotten???

Over 6 months in the top 5 alone

Ashley won

I'm not trying to start an argument, so don't take this that way. However, I feel like Closer's actual long-term longevity will be closer to PRA or SYA. Both still get some publicity, but I think the 2010s songs with the most longevity over time are Rolling In The Deep and Uptown Funk. Both of those actually steered the music industry in a different direction. Closer, like SYA and PRA is one of the best of its kind, but it's the songs that change what type of music gets airplay that truly longevity.

I would say the same (to a lesser, but still significant) extent about Somebody Like You (first #1 piano-singer only ballad in history, then Mars and Legend did the same). Even Thrift Shop, while it doesn't seem as relevant now, brought brass back to the top of BB's Hot 100. Paul Grein mentioned this. The only song the year before TS to reach the Top 3 with horns was Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You.' After TS became a smash, horns became the norm for two to three years.

I feel like Closer may end up being the a signature song of the EDM era. Especially if it can make it to 32 or 33 weeks on the top 10, it could break away from PRA/SYA and get closer to UF/RITD.

We will tomorrow morning. Since today wasn't a holiday, BB will publish them early (at least for the US) Tuesday morning.

On Radio Songs, "Rhythm" rises 20-17 (56 million, up 12 percent). The track surges 12-10 in its third week on Adult Pop Songs, completing the fastest flight to the top tier of any of Perry's 14 top 10s on the ranking.

Not Adult Pop Songs being the only supporter of the song :dies:

I actually think Closer could get over 52 weeks in the Hot 100 given its current pace. If it stays above 25, Closer stays on the Hot 100. Then watch BB change the role to 20/52 lol.

I wouldn't say that. It's #25 on Spotify US, falling on itunes & the radio will play Paris & SJLT. I don't think this will break the 32 week top 10 record but the song deserves every single position it charted. It was really huge. I can't at people expecting it to fall down because a viral challenge occured & dethroned it while it was still burning up.

i'm saying this as a person who thinks TC sucks.

Closer is falling so slowly though. I need to go back and see how many weeks it's been in the HRS Top 10. WFL and UF have the longest #1 stays for the 2010s, and UF got 26 weeks there (and substantially higher audience numbers too). But I feel fairly certain Closer reached the HRS T 10 in less than five weeks, which would put it past UF for Top 10 stay on HRS.
