What about sledgehammer?

Lol. :doc: It flopped as you know. I think you missed the point.  Sledgehammer was released mid era while Rihanna had 3 top 20 singles simultaneously... Needed Me and TIWYCF were both top 10. Not exactly comparable to a lead single scenario is it.

Yeah the point is soundtrack songs can be huge, big, moderate hit, flops.  (just like all lead singles)

Yes, Taylor's IDWLF is currently fighting for number one so it's definitely a huge hit. :clap3:

Sledgehammer was only sent to AC/HAC radio and Rihanna already had 2 songs in the top 10 (3 in top 15), when this one came out :doc:

Zayn & Taylor don't have another single out at the moment

Is SOY coming back to #1 next week? @simmnfierzig

I wouldn't mind that Zayn and the Lord got a week at #1 before Ed dominates, I hope that they do it

Would have debuted at #1 if released at the start of the tracking week

Uhm? The "soundtrack single" just had a video premiere + discount, Shape of You didn't.

And why can't soundtrack singles be big to begin with? Love Me Like You Do was huge. Not to talk about CSTF! and Happy..

How much did it end up selling?

Ed's video premiere gonna offset B&B streams

Maybe the tracking week of Feb 3-Feb 10, its returning to #1.

Earned It was still bigger than LMLYD here though :cm:

Love Me Like You Do also had 3 weeks #3 in streaming, vs. earned it's #4 peak.

So Ellie wins in streams and wins in sales in the US. So unless "here" is another country...

~2.4 million

Earned It placed #9 on the 2015 year-end chart, while LMLYD landed at #13. So even if LMLYD had a slightly higher peak, I think it's fair to say that EI was a little bigger in the end.

Actually Carey's CD and Cassette Singles were priced at $0.49, cheaper than ITunes has ever been. Considering the physical singles cost about $2 each to produce, and most singles sold for $3.49-$4.49 (and maxi singles at $6.99), $0.49 was a much larger discount than $0.69 vs. $1.29.

And yeah, Dirty Diana was both the "smallest" and fastest falling #1 of the 1980s. DD spent one week at #1, just 5 in the Top 10, only 11 in the Top 40, and just 14 on the Hot 100 (one of those weeks was before hitting the Top 40). I think DD fell 1-5-15-30-51-77, or just five falling weeks total. Jackson should've let Man In The Mirror smash instead of so desperately pushing for that #1. I think without the pressure to pick up DD, MITM could've gotten three or maybe even four weeks on top, and would've fallen more slowly (though Mirror was already the slowest falling song from Bad -- none of the songs had much hang time).

Yes. Thanks for adding more tea.

Looks like Taylor and Zayn have it discount.

When it's all said and done most people don't know how songs chart or peak but will remember seeing in an article/magazine if a song went to #1 if it's mentioned as part of their promo.

Do what you have to do to make history I guess.

Zaylor can have last chance two weeks from now when album will be released, but only if Ed's Shape won't skyrocket to really high position in radio

Posted

I don't think the discount is going to last that much, but since it's the era of discounts, and Taylor doesn't have excuse to do it and sell :michael:

Ed's getting 3 million+ AI updates per day though

Of course Ed is going to continue blowing up on radio, no signs of slowing down at all.
