The 'overall certification' that is bolstered by a single song's success. As I said, it's not her albums or other singles that are doing it. She's battling to the bottom of the top 10 and her knocking out the occasional Gold/Silver certification is not going to help her catch up.

That the thing, difference between them is 5M. A single song in streaming era can bolster overall certified units by a lot. Except for Rihanna, with her huge lead everyone else is shakable.

Telephone 2x Platinum, time to update the thread again :sistrens:

Looks like we don't even need that ASIB certification for Gaga to keep rising on the list #karma

Posted

Gaga now at 15.8 million singles (1.2m less than the OP suggests)

+600,000 from PF

+600,000 from Telephone

Wow Gaga has so many multi-platinum UK songs. Unprecedented amount I’d say. JD, PF, BR, Shallow, ROM

Question, I believe a few years ago when the OP was unable to maintain and update this thread we transferred the ownership. Can that happen again?

Also the meltdown about Gaga not being above 20M without ASIB and now she’s above 20M a few days later without ASIB :rip:

Chromatica in 2 years: 1.7M certified units

Lemonade in 6 years: 1.1M certified units

Beyonce being ahead of Lady Gaga is just result of 5 year head-start and more musical content out there.

Chromatica's UK units without the Ariana-assisted collab: 500,000

Lemonade's UK units without any of it's singles: 484,000

Gaga also has more studio albums than Beyoncé. Neither The Gift and Everything Is Love is credited to Beyoncé in the UK similarly to how ASIB isn't credited to Gaga. Love For Sale and Cheek to Cheek however are credited to Gaga. It isn't Beyoncé's fault her album tracks are popular enough to be certified.

Chromatica certified songs: 2

Lemoande certified songs: 4

Joanne: 2

Beyoncé: 6

Artpop: 2

4: 5

Born This Way: 5

I Am... Sasha Fierce: 7

The Fame/Monster: 7

Love For Sale: 0

Cheek to Cheek: 0

B'Day: 4

Dangerously In Love: 4

The receipts say Chromatica is smaller than every single Beyoncé era in the UK. Not that that should be surprising as Gaga is nowhere near as big as Beyoncé in the UK, which should be more than obvious by the OP in this thread alone.

Also congrats to Beyoncé for adding yet another album track certification to her growing list of certified tracks in the UK with Ego. Which is very difficult to achieve for some. :clap3:

Is this supposed to be a drag? Multiple Gaga album tracks are certified. One of them is Platinum. And before you go “it was a single!!!1!” it was not a UK single.

None of Beyoncé’s remixes count towards her total UK certs because she isn’t credited on them so removing her collabs won’t change anything.

Exactly, so the argument of Beyoncé being in the lead because she has more material is not only wrong, it’s also invalid. Gaga simply isn’t as popular there.

who said anything about remixes, I am talking about assisted collabs like ROM. you know like crazy in love, deja vu and Its too much of a work to name her 20 other collaborations. But hopefully you got the idea

Wait a damn second. Why are we calling it an Ariana assisted collab? None of Ariana’s Positions (2020) singles are certified 2x Plat like ROM is. The highest is Platinum AND on top of that her other 2020 collab Stuck With U is only Gold…

ROM is not only Gaga’s highest certified song released in 2020, but Ariana’s as well :rip:

Sounds like they helped each other.

Beyoncé’s total UK certs without any collaborations: 17,920,000

Lady Gaga’s total UK certs without any collaborations: 16,760,000

Looks like the loser loses again. :ahh:

The difference is Beyoncé can still scan certifications across the board with or without a feature whilst it looks like Gaga falls behind in that department as noted by ROM having more certified units than Chromatica and all of it’s other tracks combined.

It doesn't matter how many years it's been when she was more material than her and still falls behind. :ahh:

Beyoncé is much bigger in the UK than Gaga and she will never catch up

Well Beyoncé has far more collaborations than Gaga, and don't them both have the same amount of albums? I get that five years is an advantage but it's not as if Beyoncé's released more albums using those five years.

Even if they have same numbers of album, it doesn't change the fact Beyonce has put out more content. GaGa has like ~30 singles compared to Beyonce ~50 singles. Her material have been available longer on markets to be consumed. Like BDay have been out for like 20 years and TF has been out for like 15 years. TF units right now won't be same as they will be in 2027.

Yup Beyonce is ahead of Gaga but when you consider all these things is not that much of difference between two. Give or take they are almost on same level ink UK.

Except for Rihanna at top spot everyone in top 20 is movable, especially how certifications work in streaming era.

What? The Fame (Gaga's first album) came out less than 2 years after B'Day (Beyoncé's second).

And as mentioned, Beyoncé has far more singles that are collaborations than Gaga's so this 30 vs. 50 thing evens out a bit more in the stats that was being compared specifically.

Of course albums can gain sales over time, but I mean after 15+ years are they gaining THAT much? It's small additions that add up, okay, but I don't think a five year difference is such a huge advantage.

If we want to talk about advantages, let's also mention how Lemonade was off streaming for 3 years, in which time I doubt people were buying up the singles as much as they would have been streaming them, contributing to their certifications.

All y’all are doing is comparing every era to Chromatica without ROM. Same thing y’all did with ASIB without Shallow bc Bradley somehow assisted in selling the music.

Gaga is always judged by made up standards but I guess that’s what you get when you’re making hits like Shallow and ROM 10+ years into your career. Others can’t relate without a remix.

Another 800,000 for Beyoncé. Putting her over 25 million certified units. :clap3:
