Galah Posted May 30, 2018 Author Posted May 30, 2018 4/5 judges have submitted scores. All I can say is that it's very much still a battle for the final place in our Top 15. Good luck!

Galah Posted May 30, 2018 Author Posted May 30, 2018 Oceanic Observations (Hints) @MattyTacos – you, make ? @Nait Phoenix – chemistry, are ? @Obsession – don't, on ⬇️ @SeanKevinMusic – never ? @beatinglikeadrum – you, make ? @Bawdee – yo, on ? @Kunst – jump, say ? I don't actually expect anyone to crack these, but if someone does, you can find out not just your ranking, but your individual score down to the decimal from these hints. Hint for hints: one album will Show What Answers You seek.

SaintWest Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 MattyTacos - “Souled Ourselves to the Devil” @MattyTacos To be honest, when I first got the submissions, yours was at the top and I skimmed. But when I re-read it my jaw literally dropped by the end of the pre-chorus. Gorl! Now I’m mad at you for not serving this level of quality earlier! You really peaked. I wasn’t as a fan of the chorus, it felt a little too poetic for me, but the rest was really quite incredible. Especially in the pre-chorus, I could almost envision everything in my head. So well done. NaitPhoenix - “Baila conmigo” @Nait Phoenix I could definitely see this being radio’s next Despacito. Undoubtedly my favorite entry from you. When I originally scrolled through the entry and saw some was in a different language, I was worried it was going to feel super forced and wedged in there for the sake of having an entry in a different language. But it wasn’t. There were no real wig awf moments for me, but I am really impressed and happy to see you delivered this week. Best of luck! Obsession - “Out of Your Orbit” @Obsession “And I’m freaking out” felt a little too informal for me. I think you did an excellent job at not making me feel like I was reading a song centered around space imagery, but I feel sometimes the lyrics suffered from feeling too much like spoken word poetry. Still well written, I just wish there were more defined structures and flow. But nonetheless, congrats on writing something in 24 hours. THAT is a feat to be celebrated. SeanKevinMusic - “Kiss You Again” @SeanKevinMusic I think I gave you this review before, but this was very elementary pop. It wasn’t bad, but in this competition, lyrics need to be the highlight of the entry. What elevates pop songs, especially love songs, from feeling overdone are the vocals. But as a judge, I can’t hear how the song sounds like to you, or at all. So although this entry isn’t bad by all means, it really fails to lyrically standout, especially amongst other entries. However, like I said to another contestant, you wrote a song in one day, so bravo to you. I used to be in the same boat as you, so I know where you’re at. What really helped me was reading other entries in PH that scored well. From that I was really able to see what worked, what didn’t, what topics had been worn to death in PH, etc. Just some advice! Beatinglikeadrum - “Disco Voodoo Queen” @beatinglikeadrum Because someone TORN you apart? They torn you apart. Grammar disagrees! I’m kidding. Anyways, I wasn’t super vibing with this song, but it was still good. For me, the highlight was definitely the chorus. I think the disco ball line felt a little cheesy for me, but you served a concept and none of these other girls can. But I will score it well regardless because I can see a lot of effort, creativity and passion was put into this entry. We have a lot of really technically talented writers who struggle to build an emotional connection in their songs, but regardless of how technically written your songs are, I always enjoy reading your entries because I can feel that you care about each entry. You always go for a concept, and I love that it’s not always just about death or heartache, you write songs like this about a frickin’ disco voodoo queen. Anyways, best of luck to you. Bawdee - “Maria” @Bawdee What an opening fffffff I loved that. I also loved, “And my thoughts may get a little loud.” I think that’s an example of a line that is lyrically so simple, but really sends that whole verse’s message home. I think from a meter and flow standpoint, this song was definitely lacking. But I love how frantic this song was. It felt like I was listening to the inner thoughts of the character in the song which is always a treat. I love immersive songs. Kunst - “Delights” @Kunst I didn’t know you got eliminated at first and I flipped out when I saw your farewell post in the thread. Anyways, you better stan for WestWorld! I am rewatching it right now with my roommate so this was the perfect entry for my life right now. Anyways, this was the best entry from you I have read in a long time. It felt very you in the best possible way. The chorus was outstanding. There’s not much else to see. I hope to see you back competing.

Galah Posted May 31, 2018 Author Posted May 31, 2018 Results getting posted up in like half an hour. I'll make it short and sharp since everyone will want to get on to Episode 5.
Galah Posted May 31, 2018 Author Posted May 31, 2018 Episode 4.5 Chart Analysis Thank you to each and every one of the demo songwriters who pitched a song to us on such short notice. It's an impressive skill to be able to write under pressure, let alone under pressure and a strictly short time limit. You seven did what plenty of other dismissed songwriters either couldn't or chose not to do, and what I'm sure many of our signed artists would struggle with, and that alone deserves a round of applause. That said, there are still only 3 remaining slots on the Platinum Records roster, which means we must say goodbye for good to just over half of you. @MattyTacos@Nait Phoenix@Obsession@SeanKevinMusic@beatinglikeadrum@Bawdee@Kunst Three of you will be lucky, but which three? All of your songs were tested in various African countries via several different radio stations and based on the callout scores Halara Lipello's three singles were chosen. There were two clear favourites, but the third single was debated and switched out multiple times. Let's take a look at Halara's breakout hit… Congratulations to… @Nait Phoenix Your Spanish-flavoured single "Baila conmigo" was exactly what the African branch of Platinum Records was looking for to introduce Halara to a global audience. The single ended up selling 7,945,000 PHU worldwide. You are officially the 13th artist on Platinum Records' roster! The second artist joining the Platinum Records roster tonight also wrote a song which performed very well with radio listeners. It went on to become a global hit similar to "Baila conmigo", causing the African branch of Platinum Records to upgrade it from buzz single status. Congratulations to… @Kunst Your personal song really resonated not only with Halara, but the African and eventually global general population! "Delights" moved a fantastic 7,680,000 PHU globally after being upgraded to her official follow-up single to "Baila conmigo". You join Nait and become the 14th artist on our roster overall. Before we reveal the final songwriter being offered a recording contract tonight, I'd like to congratulate the following songwriters on giving the comeback challenge a go and successfully writing two solid pop tracks… @Bawdee & @SeanKevinMusic I'm sorry, but while your comeback entries were strong, they weren't enough to get you back into Platinum Hit: Stardom and secure a place on the Platinum Records artist roster. Your songs sold 5,480,000 PHU and 5,110,000 PHU respectively, meaning they still caused some buzz within various African communities. I wouldn't be surprised if Halara wanted to use them on her upcoming EP. We hope to see you both in Platinum Hit 13! Now, the moment of truth. When I say it was a battle for the 15th and final place on our Platinum Records artist roster, that's no exaggeration. Any one of the remaining artists could have made it (and would have during various stages as the results were coming through region by region). But the final cumulative total is all that matters. The final place in our Top 15… Belongs to… The one… The only… @MattyTacos Congratulations Matty! Your dark glamour anthem was just what Halara was looking for in order to switch up her good-girl image without alienating her fanbase too much. Released as the third official single from Halara's latest project, it ended up being another 7M+ seller, topping 7,000,000 PHU exactly. You're the 15th and final artist on the Platinum Records roster for 2018. Congratulations! As for @beatinglikeadrum & @Obsession, it was so close. Either one of you could have been where Matty is right now, selling 6,775,000 PHU and 6,715,000 PHU respectively. Your songs were great, but unfortunately they just weren't global enough to warrant a recording contract with Platinum Records this time. Both of you are now an instrumental part of the PH family and we know this won't be the last we see of either of you! Can't wait to see you both in Platinum Hit 13.

beatinglikeadrum Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 (edited) I prefered to be last tbh than 4th. It is kind of the worst position ever. But thank you nevertheless for the chance. Galah Posted May 31, 2018 Author Posted May 31, 2018 @Corsola Do you mean the table itself or the text inside the table? I can never get the table to center but I've never had troubles centring the text within. Odd.
