Radio picking Gaga up makes me think of This Town, Gold, i hate u, All Time Low etc.

So yes, by discounting the song for months radio start playing the song. Considering the previous songs MR should have no problems peaking between #5-#15

Super Bowl kinda played a big part too considering radio wasn't responding to MR's discounts back in November-December

Isn't it the third biggest behind Linkin Park and Kygo / Selena?  Still amazingly impressive for this song :skull:

They always do lol

Wow. Closer gained 783,000 in audience compared to yesterday. It still suffered a spin loss, but that type of impressions gain for a song on the way down is pretty impressive. No, I didn't look to see if MB reweighted any formats. But no one on here mentioned that, so I assume there wasn't a reweighing behind Closer's sudden audience surge.

Will salina and kygo be affected by the rolling effect tomorrow? They didn't even have any radio deal so they shouldn't get affected that much right?

Pop/HAC radio were of course. Clearly, she has the radio power to release a pop song and still score a big hit as opposed to releasing urban music and getting streaming-fueled hits.

@blackbeatxx

Why were/are you shocked?

Rihanna has the most number-ones on Pop radio, the most top tens on Pop radio and the most entries on the Pop songs chart overall so I'm not surprised that she's now SLAYING Pop radio with a song that is Pop-friendly. They clearly miss her Pop music.

The difference between Rihanna and the rest of these Girls is that Rihanna has a solid Urban/Rhythmic audience that will always hold her down/ride or die for her even when her Pop audience isn't supporting her as heavily (Pour It Up; ...Better Have My Money; Work; Needed Me) and still do so even when her Pop audience is completely and 100% on board (This Is What You Came For; Love On The Brain)

This is why I believe that Rihanna will continue to have longevity. She's a genuine crossover artist and as a Black Woman it's even more impressive. The only other Black Female act who was as big a crossover was Whitney Houston (and Janet Jackson to a lesser extent).

Well drag me but i dont see LOTB as that commercial/basic sounding like for example TIWYCF.

But i'm pleased to see the success for LOTB on radio, it needs to go higher on spotify tho

Well that's the disadvantage of releasing a song that sounds like LOTB.

And I agree TIWYCF is more radio-friendly than it

Oh, no! I wasn't attacking you or anything of the sort (I apologise if it came across as such) but highlighting a few points.

Anyhow, I agree, the song most definitely needs to gain much more on Spotify. However, as @alexanderao stated, that is the disadvantage of releasing a song such as "Love On The Brain", its sound isn't exactly in conjunction with the Spotify demographic hence why it's been performing exponentially better in sales. Nevertheless, the reason for why it's performance on Spotify is so subpar is because the song is, quite literally, on no playlists that have over 1.5M+ followers and Spotify hasn't opted to add it to any either; the fact that it even has 110M+ streams thus far is great unlike 'WORK' which was added to the TTH playlist right away and 'Needed Me' which wasn't but took off all on its own regardless. Her affiliation with Tidal is primarily the main reason for this. Albeit we know why, she should have never signed to be a part of it in the first place. She will always now be in a compromising position because of it whether or not she's Spotify's most streamed/best performing female artist. :beatfreak:

Here's an interesting discussion I saw happening on the H100. Royals' radio performance.

It performed great on the pop quadrant obviously, Rhythmic, but it also peaked at #4 on Urban radio. Why is this? Urban radio today, I would think, would never play a song like Royals. Why did it perform so strongly in 2013? :worship2:

It was actually #1 on the Mediabase all stations chart for a few days :alexz:

I mean, the song is fairly urban-friendly with its snaps and its minimalistic, bass-driven sound. But it blew past my expectations for it there, like Latch did.

Urban liked Royals because of its urban/hip-hop/bass beat. AND many PDs also wanted their audiences to listen to and understand Lorde's message. She sang about how so many songs talked about needing thousands of dollars to have fun on the town and glorify violence at the clubs like it's no big deal. Lorde simply says her and her friends can't really relate to and/or understand why songs are written about lifestyles virtually none of the listeners will ever have the chance to live. Lorde spoke about having fun with her friends and being content without spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars every time they go out. Billboard actually wrote a piece about how and why Urban PDs rushed to add Royals to their playlists in late 2013-early 2014. I will try to find some links.

Here is the article. When you read it, Urban's attraction to Royals makes a lot of sense. http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/5770399/lordes-royals-expands-reign-to-rb-radio

Everyone was so excited to count her out :rip: Radio hates her, though. Pop was so stubborn.
