I'm sure Taylor's team will push Karma more. If not, who's gonna be #1 next? Sure Thing/Calm Down for the next 2 months until Dua takes over? :deadbanana4:

Or maybe Olivia if she pulls a Flowers gets to #1 on radio in one month  :dies:

Last Night is literally right there. It's definitely going #1

Pop radio needs to seriously gut Calm Down before it challenges the Blinding Lights record. This is beyond ridiculous.

What Blinding Lights record?

49 weeks on Mediabase. Before You Go is 2nd with 44 weeks. Die For You is tied with Stay and Adore You for 3rd, with 43 weeks.

Calm Down will be at 35 weeks on Sunday.

I'm unsure, have in mind no country hit has ever topped the Pop radio chart, and yes, I'm aware "Last Night" is one of the biggest country hits of all time.

I think only Taylor with Love Story

You Belong with me was #1 on mediabase pop radio but it missed the #1 on Billboard Pop Songs

But those Taylor songs are more pop friendly than Last Night

How many Country crossovers have topped HAC? Breathe & Need You Now did. I assume there were more. You're Still The One stopped at 6 so it didn't.

@simmnfierzig I'll start by saying LN has proven me wrong a bunch already & definitely could again.

But LN is barely positive at AC & based on MMI Wallen will begin promoting Everything I Love at Country radio soon. So at some point Country losses & almost 0 updates at AC will outweigh T40 & HAC gains. That will most likely keep LN from #1 overall.

That's actually more doable.

If not for radio, Eyes Closed would have joined Like Crazy off the chart within 5 weeks.

The only good things about EC not capitulating to this point is that DFY is finally going recurrent. If not for that, DFY would have backed into another couple weeks on the Pop chart because Favorite Song is useless. (I get that FS will be #11 either way, but I wish it got the spot on its own instead of relying on DFY going recurrent.)

EC is doing OK on Digital Songs but not on Spotify or Apple Music Charts. Does EC have amazing callout scores?

So LN will move to #7 Friday & probably cross 90 million on MB AI. And I guess LN could pass Flowers this weekend. I definitely didn't see foresee either of these but still feel Calm Down is safe at #1.

@Fastlane I remember Landslide. It actually reached #1 during the week several weeks but Sheryl Crow's Soak Up The Sun would push it down to #2 each weekend when BB and Radio & Records tabulated the "official" HAC charts. Of course, in March 2003, Landslide also suffered the worst 1 week drop ever on AC (non-Christmas), HAC & T40.

Don't forget that Calm Down is over 40 weeks old. It's likely peaked on most of its formats, and should seeing large negative updates soon as it starts geting gutted on some of those formats.

If I remember correctly, the BB tracking period for radio was Wednesday-Tuesday until July 2015. I also remember the Mediabase weekly updates were on Friday in the early 2000s. I forgot when Mediabase changed to Sunday, but they should definitely go back to weekly updates on Friday to align with the BB tracking period of Friday-Thursday.

Do we think Harry could sneak his way up if it hangs around like this? We love a fall hit.

On why Eyes Closed hasn’t been gutted by Pop yet:

Atlantic's decision to not bother with pushing a second single has seriously derailed any plans for Eyes Closed to make a swift and unceremonious exit. Not that there's anything else close enough or gaining fast enough to take (and hold) its place. Meh.

On the odd behavior of Sure Thing and Karma at the top of the Pop charts:

Sure Thing is the best story of the year, but it seems like radio is suddenly tightening the reins on this. Karma was a sure shot for a new #1 this week until it suddenly...wasn't. The weirdest part of this is that I'm 99% sure it's not even the label cutting a check to hold it up there, because if that was the case, RCA would also have been paying HAC to run up the overall airplay and get ST a week or two in the Hot 100 Top 10. This is just CHR being silly all on its own.

This morning, Karma passes Flowers for #3 and Last Night passes KB for #7.

DFY should go recurrent this week.

Also, interesting race for #1 on country radio this week:

OK LN still leads in audience here so I guess it gets 8 #1 weeks in BB. Only 3 songs have earned 8 weeks on theCountry Airplay Chart.

Amazed-Lonestar-8 wks-1999

It's Five O'CLOCK Somewhere-Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffet-8 wks-1999

You Proof-Morgan Wallen-10 wks-2022/3

I need to go back & see if Amazed & 5 O'CLOCK were still in front on the overall BB airplay chart. They & Live Like You Were Dying might have had 10 wks too had BB used audience instead of detections. BB switched to audience in 2005.
