At least you saw the signs with GoU and golden hour. GoU had already peaked in streaming weeks before its record drop on Pop. If anything, it's Joji's fault that he waited way too long to release the album (should have been released in late July/early August, not November). golden hour has peaked on the Hot 100 (and probably on streaming), and it was beginning to stall on Pop a few weeks ago. UIFY's drop to recurrency on Pop came out of left field, and one I'll never truly understand. It was still rising in streaming and on the Hot 100, and it was getting huge positive updates on Pop the week before it was suddenly dropped went recurrent. UIFY peaked on streaming and the Hot 100 more than a month after its recurrency on Pop. Has any other song peaked in streaming or the Hot 100 after going recurrent on Pop? (I can't think of any.) pride4jc1222
As I’ve said, the recurrency rules on Pop and the Hot 100 are very inconsistent and arbitrary. The runs of UIFY and Unstoppable have exposed them. Here’s what I’d do to fix them: On Pop, songs should be protected from recurrency until (1) they have had at least 2 falling weeks AND (2) they have peaked in streaming. In that way, we prevent songs like UIFY from going recurrent on Pop while still rising on streaming/the Hot 100. I’d also create a rule that makes songs recurrent on Pop ineligible from re-entering on the Hot 100. This would prevent songs like Unstoppable from re-entering the Hot 100 (and lingering on the chart for a few months) post-holiday season without a new boost. I actually agree with a lot of what you are saying. But the Hot 100 can't revolve around 1 format, even if CHR has a plurality-majority of the audience. Country is 2nd biggest & songs from there can now crack the T10 without crossover any airplay now.

Highly doubt it, Alternative and Rock are very loyal to legends like Linkin Park. They depend a lot on recurrent airplay for their current basis and LP are among the most played artists on the format for years, just based on previous stuff. On the other hand, Top 40 is very tricky, they function according to trends and demand, one day you're a hit, the other day you're not missed. Yeah, the same should apply to country (as well as other genres). If a song has gone recurrent on its main genre’s radio with no crossover, it shouldn’t be allowed to return to the Hot 100 without another push. There’s no reason why a song like TKOLWM, which Luke’s team moved on from in October after peaking on country radio and went recurrent on the Hot 100 in early December, should still be on the Hot 100 in late February. Actually having heard the song Lost probably wouldn't be that out of place at HAC &/or Pop. It has a trap-somewhat EDM beat. Of course Lost has some guitar & Chester's voice does get loud at times. The keyboards & Rhythmic beats are why LP still got a little mainstream airplay after all other Rock acts had been rudely shoved out of Pops doors. Burn It Down climbed to #25 at T40 3 years after Second Chance reached #3.

I learned today Lost was supposed to serve as 2003 Meteora's opening song. That instead went to Somewhere I Belong (I remember this well being the 1st Rock song to debut in the H100s Top 50 without crossover airplay). LP added Lost to Meteora's 20th Anny reissue & it's their 1st release since Chester's suicide 6 years ago. So maybe we will see other songs sung by Chester later this year. nick4bty
I'm really surprised Escapism is doing so well tbh. It's a fine song, love the sound, but it doesn't have much of a hook or anything memorable tbh. Is there a label push here? Also surprised to see Calm Down getting a second wind. Just doesn't seem like the song radio would've supported as much as they have.
