Okay, here are my reviews. Let me just say that I really like the songs in this round but when ranking them, took into account the theme of the round so that's why my low songs still have good reviews. Yes I have a lot of free time on my hands and I used it to make this post pretty

1. Nelly Furtado - Try 

I really let out a gasp of joy when I saw this song sent in! Folklore is my favorite Nelly album and Try is really a great song for this round.

 

2. Rihanna - Unfaithful

Ah, Rihanna's early days were really cool I find myself listening to her 2000's songs more often than her 2010's songs. Should have gone #1. 

 

3. Madonna - The Power of Goodbye

Beautiful choice! One of my favorite Madonna songs. The theme of suicide in the song is very dark, and in general it's a very gloomy song. 

 

4. Katy Perry - Lost

I'm so happy you sent a ballad from One of the Boys! My favorite Katy album. The song is very relate able. Unpopular opinion but I really like her voice during OOTB. Feels more natural to me and adds more emotion to the ballads. She kinda brought it back with Save as Draft though which I appreciated.

 

5. Mariah Carey - Outside 

A relate able message to me. Mariah has a lot of great ballads so narrowing it down was probably hard, but I think this is a good song.

 

6. Lorde - Liability

One of the songs I like from her new album. During the chorus it kinda sounds like she's about to cry. A good choice, out of the Lorde songs I know, this is definitely the saddest one.

 

7. Lady Gaga - Princess Die

She STILL didn't release the studio version?  The crowd cheering and being hyper was ruining the atmosphere, but the lyrics still remained dark and moody.

 

8.  Ariana Grande - One Last Time

I remember the thread of the bombing. Really a crazy night. On its own, I wouldn't feel that sad listening to this song, but after the attack it does feel depressing listening to it.  

 

9. Culture Club - Do You Really Wanna Hurt Me 

Good choice for this round. Took me a few listens to really feel it though.

 

10. Demi Lovato - Father 

I can feel her emotion in this song. I'm always stingy when it comes to songs about daddy issues due to my own life but it was a nice song.

 

11. Maroon 5 - Just A Feeling

I got really sad listening to this because it reminds me of when they were legitimate in terms of pop rock music. I don't like the more dance-y stuff they have been doing in the last few years with a few exceptions such as Sugar. 

 

12. Jordin Sparks - Unhappy 

I like this song! It's a little more on the edge of not being that sad compared to other songs this round but the message still manages to keep it fitting.

 

13. Natalia Kills - Devils Don't Fly

It feels a little too upbeat for me to be sad, but the lyrics are pretty gloomy. Also I like the album cover, looks really cool.

 

14. Lea Michele - If You Say So

Fitting song for this round. I didn't feel sad from it, but still I'd say it works well for this round.

 

15. Celine Dion - Recovering

I'm not familiar with Celine's discography so I don't know her ballads but it was really calm and sweet. Alas, it didn't make me sad.

oh mess I haven't finished the entire season, I just meant hosting the results for the quarter-final! we still have the semi-final and the final/reunion left. next season will be autumn or spring, depending on whether I do another season of X Factor
