NEW RELEASES: HEROES AND HEARTS

Although its curators would prefer you not to call it a soundtrack, the Black Panther album—crafted by Kendrick Lamar, Top Dawg and team to accompany the wildly anticipated Marvel blockbuster, which hits theaters in one week—has arrived, in tandem with an official ST (for the latest steamy installment in the Fifty Shades franchise).

Black Panther (TDE/Aftermath/Interscope) 110-120k total activity, 35-40k album

50 Shades Freed (Republic) 50-60k, 30-40k

As you probably know by now, Lamar performs on five of the Panther album's 14 tracks; other participants in the superhero sonics include The Weeknd, SZA, ScHoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, Khalid, Swae Lee, Jay Rock and Vince Staples. Panther is the #1 album at Apple Music and iTunes; seven tracks are currently in the Apple Music Top 10 and five in the Spotify Top 10 (with three in the Top 5).

Tragic numbers for 50SOG, but it's not surprising.

There's little buzz about the film and they chose an artist who isn't really big in the US to lead the soundtrack.

Black Panther :clap3:

Good numbers so far :clap3:

Before anyone tries it, soundtracks do better once their parent film is released.

At least it got the #1 and longetivity is key with soundtrack ( look at Greatest Showman for example)

Who will top JT debut this year hm I say Drake. Post Malone lost rockstar potential. Not sure who else big may release.

people thought we'd get new sales lows left and right, but the lowest #1 seller is still from 2015, the Descendants soundtrack at just under 30k. Two other #1 sellers have been sub-35k both right around 30k as well, la la land soundtrack and stone sour.

Gurl... Post Malone is only getting bigger, he can release another hit if he wants. His streaming is going to be enormous once he releases.
