Lukey Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Sorry, I've only just arrived back home from Paris. It's really drained me. I had a near death experience, I had annoying kids, flustered people and then to top it all off, was stuck on the Eurostar for an extra two hours
Bloomers Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 Work suddenly got crazy, and the past couple days I have had a lot to do. I will do this right now and send it if you'll still take it. Sorry about that.
Bloomers Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 Aww Satan why? This news makes me very sad. May we meet again one day.

prézli Posted June 1, 2018 Author Posted June 1, 2018 @Bloomers @Lukey Lukey Quote Quote Landslide can be interpreted in many ways and Stevie herself wrote it about a relationship. However, for me, when I listen to this song, I think of the time we have with ourselves, loved ones and life in general. One way this song can be interpreted is about a parent and child relationship. All their life, the mother/father have been focused on ensuring they give their child everything they possibly can, even missing out on personal experiences, memories and life choices, and when it's time for the child to grow up and go out alone, what does the parent have? Building their life around the child and knowing the child growing older means they themselves are also getting older, what does the parent do with the time they have left? For me, the reflection in the snow-covered hills lyric represents the parent looking down on them after passing and the landslide is a reminder of time. Bloomers Quote Quote “When I try to show you this song is meant to keep you from doing what you’re supposed to waking up too early, maybe we can sleep in, I’ll make you banana pancakes.” The alarm is the bane of human existence. It means that it is time to wake up too early, and throw yourself out into the world, whether you are rested or not. This alarm though, it’s gone past 7 am and appears to not have gone off, which, when coupled with the soft lighting of the picture makes me thing that the owner of the alarm has decided to take it slow this morning, which is the best type of morning. Really, there is nothing better than slowly waking up during the morning, and ignoring the outside world, especially with that special person—one that you’ll happily cook banana pancakes for on that slow, easy-going morning.
prézli Posted June 1, 2018 Author Posted June 1, 2018 @Bloomers @Lukey Lukey Quote Quote Well, I believe the song speaks for itself to be honest. Once you have that bond with a friend, knowing they will always be there for you, it's special. You'll do anything for them and they'll do anything for you. You'll be by their side to support, help and nurture. And if I should ever go away Well, then close your eyes and try To feel the way we do today And then if you can remember The moment they are sharing in the photo is only one of the many memories she'll be thinking of when trying to help resolve the worries, sadness or anxiety she is feeling. Bloomers Quote Quote “ Some other folks might be a little bit smarter than I am, Bigger and stronger too, maybe, but none of them will ever love you the way I do.” What is better than a true friend? A true friend will stick through thick and thin with you and make life worth living. It’s great knowing that you have someone that you can have good times with and that also has your back during the bad times. When I see these two girls together, I see two friends that are comfortable with one another, two people that share a special bond, and that makes me happy and reminds me of my own great friends that I am lucky enough to have and the friends I would do anything for. Randy Newman’s song is corny, but in just the right way; it’s a corny thing, but true friendship is hard to beat.
prézli Posted June 1, 2018 Author Posted June 1, 2018 @Bloomers @Lukey Lukey Quote Quote Now, I didn't choose this song just because I saw a bit of bondage, not that straightforward but does connect. Paris giving the middle finger represents her saying "I'm proud of being my sexual self. Showing skin, feeling sexy and embracing who I am". It might be considered "bad" in society to be seen as such, but she feels so good so why should she stop? The microphone wrapped around her to make it look like bondage, also gives the sense that she's into such things many wouldn't think appropriate but once again, Paris is giving that middle finger and showing there's nothing wrong with being sexy. Bloomers Quote Quote “Cameras are flashing while we’re dirty dancing, they keep watching, keep watching, feels like the crowd is saying…. Gimme more.” The hypnotic sultry beat, the cooed come-ons weaved in and out through the song, the breathy suggestive vocals; Gimme More is one of the most interesting pop songs. It’s endlessly listenable and you can get borderline uncomfortable listening in public because of it’s outward and unabashed sex appeal. It’s sleazy and raunchy and Britney throws herself right out there for you… but… is it really Britney? The picture has Paris Hilton nude, suggestively posed, with a rebellious middle finger in the air, which is pretty much outward message of Gimme More; and Paris are right there in the spotlight for you, begging you to come after them; who cares who is watching. But at the same time, Paris is tied and bound by her microphone, the thing she is performing with. She has little freedom in this pose. She’s sexily posing for the viewer, but tied and bound by her mic, vulnerable, up in front of the person or people on the other side of the camera. Similarly, Britney’s Gimme More was recorded right before her breakdown. Her voice is altered, pitched up and down, robotic often, as she sings her suggestive come-ons, the musical landscape warps and twists around her, even going as far as chanting “Danja. Danja. Danja” The other lyrics acknowledge that even though Britney may be here performing for you and for you early, there is someone else watching her, flashing the cameras, watching, encouraging her.
prézli Posted June 1, 2018 Author Posted June 1, 2018 @Bloomers @Lukey Lukey Quote Quote No matter the weather, no matter what you're going through, just put on your dancing shoes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtI63Nb_-w4 Bloomers Quote Quote “Everything will be alright if we just keep dancing like we’re 22.” With beachballs, glittery shows, dancers, and a brightly lit stage, bright colors, the picture looks like a funhouse of a concert. There really aren’t too many outright fun pop songs anymore, carefree sugary pop songs that just make you want to sing along and forget your troubles and have a good time, mostly because that is such a young person thing to do. This picture definitely seems like it takes place during one of those songs, and I imagine this song being an infectious ball of sugary energy like 22. Even if you aren’t 22 anymore, this song will take you back to one of those fun nights you weren’t sleeping and having fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyGPhJ6ki9I
prézli Posted June 1, 2018 Author Posted June 1, 2018 @Bloomers @Lukey Lukey Quote Quote There's a myth that native Americans believed the lights of Auroras were a sign of their friends and loved ones who had passed away, were dancing and when it shone brighter, that they were happy where they were. Bloomers Quote Quote (Sorry prezli!) “Everything you want is a dream away” The northern lights have captivated people for as long as they have been around to see them. They can be both terrifying, or promising, they can remind a person of the huge expanses of the universe and how people are subject to vast phenomena that are well beyond their control or reach that they do not fully understand, or they could also represent all the possibilities of the universe as the beautiful colors dance across the night sky from outer space; a seemingly unearthy beauty straight from the dream world, right here on Earth. The thing is, they happen so far north (or south), most people will never be able to make the trek to see them in person. The beauty is there, but either the time or lack of determination discourages people from taking that leap into the unknown to go on the journey to see them. This song has always inspired me. From the technicolor guitar loops that burst at every given moment, to the glittery disco strut, to the “Woo-hoos” that seemingly cascade into infinity, the song just represents the joy of taking that leap and going on that adventure few will ever take. It also has soundtracked my own personal adventures these past couple years and has encouraged me to take off and chase my own lights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtXby3twMmI
prézli Posted June 1, 2018 Author Posted June 1, 2018 @Bloomers @Lukey Lukey Quote Quote The constant abuse from the media, her family and from even her own self, she's broken. The heartbreak and pain in her eyes, almost begging for someone to be there, to understand what it feels like to be in her shoes. Give her the chance to breathe as she sees no other way but to hurt herself or even worse... Bloomers Quote Quote “My **** is deep, depper than my grave, G, I’m ready to die and nobody can save me.”The picture isn’t outside suicidal, but it gives off desperation, and bleak hopelessness. The person has a gun to their head in a stark black and white photograph. If she isn’t suicidal, she at least isn’t in a happy and carefree frame of mind. Her eyes are also pleading and hopeless as if she’s done and seen some things that can’t be undone. It’s a shocking image, unsettling, and nakedly emotional. This song may be a little on the nose at times, but it does capture that stark, bleak, feeling of the picture, as if you’re listening to and watching someone that can’t outrun their past no matter how they try. The judges are now judging your entries. Each judge will name which song is preferred to the picture. The contestant with the most win will win the entire tournament.
Lukey Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Ahhh God. Bloomers you really brought it I was hoping you'd mess up But well done I like to think we've both sent in strong entries
