They count them together or something, cause remix shows the same amount as original. So BTW numbers are correct ;)

The real streaming numbers for the Zedd Remix are about 430K. :skull:

Both ARTPOP and Joanne could have had better numbers if she didn't stop promoting singles after the second one.

Either way, both A-YO and John Wayne are nearing 50 million streams, which is quite impressive for regular album tracks and for songs their genre.

In today's streaming age, to force push the streaming counter of a whole record can be easily done by releasing as many singles and promotional tracks before the release of the whole record as possible. Of course this ruins the surprise experience of a fan, when you already know more than half of it by the time it is out, but this is how it works.

Releasing individual songs before the album release, once every few weeks, gets more exposure to them and leads to bigger streaming numbers even for album tracks.

It's basically the way Dua Lipa or Zara Larson ended up having billion streamed records.

Gaga, on the other hand, usually tends to release about 2 singles and maybe one or two promotional singles (which are usually too close to the album release, usually two weeks prior), which is why it's hard for her to get bigger streaming numbers to more than just two songs on a record.

For her next pop release, she could do it the Ariana way: release the lead about 4 months before the album drops and put out one song every 3-4 weeks before the final album. It gives more exposure to these individual tracks.

Promotional schedules which included avoiding to release many songs before the album hits stores cause it ''confuses'' the radio plays and it affects the rollout of the actual single, are OLD. If a song is meant to be an organic hit, the radio will push it anyway in favour of others. Also, I highly doubt Gaga would put anything out at this point that could compete as a #1 pop record on the radio, which is why forcing radio deals to push a song the radio will drop the next week the deal is over is a wrong way of doing it.

If you wanna seem succesful, you need streams. And you don't get streams by releasing two songs before the record and by stopping after the second single.

She actually promoted only Million Reasons for real. :skull: A-YO got two (?) televised performances and John Wayne got one, but not enough to consider it an actual promo, if you get what I'm saying.

Born This Way era (promo) single rollout could work in streaming era.

  • Born This Way (single): February 11
  • Judas (2nd single): April 15
  • The Edge of Glory: May 9
  • Hair: May 16
  • Born This Way (album): May 23

The second single should be out earlier nowadays, but BTW was smashing so there was no point in releasing another song. But overall I think 4 songs released before the album is enough. reputation era rollout is something I wouldn't mind either, except for the short amount of time between the lead and second single.

Sad, but true. While payola is an easy way to get few points for H100, they shouldn't focus too much on radio 'cause Gaga isn't going higher than top 10 on Pop unless the song does amazing on streaming.

Sometimes it feels like her team doesn't completely get how to give a song the best treatment and... that's what they get a lot of money for. :rip:

2 songs is fine. Katy released like 3 songs before Witness and it didn't do **** for the album :-*

1st single, promo before or after 2nd single, 2nd single.

The Cure was their first attempt to see what works. I don't think they cared whether it flopped or not, they were seeing what metrics were working and was weren't. This time they'll have a better game plan.

Nah, two songs is not enough. Especially with an artist like Gaga whose audience isn't really that strong on streaming. Releasing more stuff will boost all the material released prior to it.

She should also push at least one song after the album has been released.

In fact, it did:

Swish Swish - 222 million streams

Bon Appetit - 147 million streams

Chained To The Rythm - 346 million streams

One big hit, one small one and a complete bomb. 715 million streams. That's more than the whole Joanne record combined.

Looking at how low her album tracks stand on Spotify, do you really think BA (for example) would have accumulated almost 150 million streams if it wasn't released prior to the record?

Payola helped big time on Spotify for Katy! Had Gaga’s team put PI, MR and John Wayne (as it had the video) on TTH, she could have had a billion streamed album

The fact that katy did barely 100M outside of singles while Gaga did 300M outside of singles :dies:

Also SwishSwish is not even a small spotify hit for its genre.

I want Gaga to do a traditional release this time around so that way she's actually FORCED to promote the singles and understand the importance of streaming. That way she'll rack up a lot of SPS. The 3 months between the single and album should be all about adapting to streaming, that way she'll have nothing to worry about once the album comes out.
