AidanUnderYou Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 (edited) Welcome to my Top 100 Singles and Top 40 albums of 2017! This will contain my most played singles and albums of 2017. The charts will not be confined to albums and singles released in 2017 although like 90% of them are made up of 2017 releases. This isn't a definitive listing of my favourite albums but my most played. Although, of course, all of my favourites will be here. I'll provide short comments with each song and with each of the albums I'll put my Top 3 songs from the album alongside. There's only one rule and its applying for the songs chart. It only contains songs that were released as an official single or a promo single. I'm also including songs that had a music video/featured in one. Also at the end I'll include my top 10 2017 releases on both albums and singles front. I hope you enjoy! Singles: Spoiler Albums: Spoiler Edited December 28, 2017 by AidanUnderYou

AidanUnderYou Posted December 28, 2017 Author Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) #100 - #85 #100 How Far I'll Go - Alessia Cara Spoiler Funny story behind this song. There's this hardstyle remix (called DaTweekaz remix) and it would go off so hard but I had no idea what song it was. Then I discovered it was from Moana . So I looked it up and fell in love with this version. It's such an amazing song and it goes with the movie so well. #99 Text From Your Ex - Tinie Tempah ft. Tinashe Spoiler A nice pop-rap song. It's really catchy and it comes from a collaboration I never really saw coming. #98 You Already Know - Fergie ft. Nicki Minaj Spoiler This song just feels like such a throwback. I absolutely adore the "It Takes Two' sample and its such an uplifting song, The house influences > #97 Untouchable - Eminem Spoiler The promo single from Eminem's latest project Revival tries to tackle racism and police brutality. I really liked the rap-rock production that shifts around the 3 minute mark although I could see a lot of the criticisms with the lyrics even although his intent was good. #96 Beautiful Mess - Kristian Kostov Spoiler A lot of you probably won't know this. It's Bulgaria's 2017 Eurovision entry and the eventual runner up and I loved it. It's an amazing mid tempo electropop song and its hard to believe that he is only 17. It honestly sounds like an immediate smash anywhere. You should definitely check it out! #95 What Lovers Do - Maroon 5 ft. SZA Spoiler I'm not Maroon 5's biggest fan but I adore SZA and this song is just the perfect radio hit. I also really like the 'Sexual' sample which is another song from this year I enjoyed. #94 It Ain't Me - Kygo & Selena Gomez Spoiler Undeniably one of the biggest hits of the year from the King of Tropical House doing what he does best. It was inescapable and it's a great tropical house track even if it's a bit on the basic side. #93 Switch - Iggy Azalea ft. Anitta Spoiler Iggy really delivered with this. Mo Bounce was a travesty but it's hard to deny she came through. Even although she's been such a controversial figure, this song deserved better. #92 Feel It Still - Portugal. The Man Spoiler The token -indie- hit of the year after being featured in the Apple Music advert. It reminds me of Foster The People, which can only mean positive things for the song. #91 Sober - G-Eazy ft. Charlie Puth Spoiler This is such a guilty pleasure. The lyrics are so douchey but I just think Charlie Puth's voice sounds amazing on the song and it makes me want to have it on repeat. G-Eazy's verses are also reasonably enjoyable. #90 MotorSport - Migos, Cardi B & Nicki Minaj Spoiler Three of the hottest people/groups in rap coming together for one song only produced excellence. Cardi B and Nicki Minaj both didn't hold back and came together to make such an excellent track. #89 LOYALTY. - Kendrick Lamar ft. Rihanna Spoiler The 90's vibes on this song end me. It sounds straight out of the GTA San Andreas soundtrack and the way Kendrick samples '24k Magic' is so unique. Such a quality song. #88 Reggaeton Lento (Remix) - CNCO & Little Mix Spoiler Being from the UK, its impossible to escape Little Mix. Doing a remix of this already big song was an amazing idea and they came through with a summer anthem. Although its hard to believe theres 9 people on this song in total . #87 Swish Swish - Katy Perry ft. Nicki Minaj Spoiler I mean, this song is hardly 'quality' or the best of the bunch but its hard to deny it bops. Props to the house vibes. #86 Occidentali's Karma - Francesco Gabbani Spoiler Ok this is the last Eurovision song I promise. A hot favourite to win although it lowkey underperformed at the contest. The English lyrics are really tongue in cheek - the title translates as 'Westerner's Karma'. It's a fun song with serious undertones mocking Westerner's hypocritical ways. A great pop song. #85 That's What I Like - Bruno Mars Spoiler Easily Bruno Mars at his best. One of the biggest songs of the year and rightfully so. The throwback R&B style is just amazing. Probably would;ve been higher if it wasn't released in 2016 but its existence as a single made me play it quite a bit in 2017 too. Edited December 28, 2017 by AidanUnderYou

witness1.3 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) Swish Swish at #87... wondering if this means legendary CTTR will be a higher position or not on the chart at all. Edited December 28, 2017 by witness1.3

AidanUnderYou Posted December 28, 2017 Author Posted December 28, 2017 #84-70 #84 A Different Way - DJ Snake ft. Lauv Spoiler Okay this is a straight up bop. DJ Snake can have some really interesting productions and this is one of them. Its like a futuristic midtempo dance song and everyone should listen to it, its very captivating and I listened to it so much when I first discovered it. #83 Castle On the Hill - Ed Sheeran Spoiler By this point, I can't stand this song. I liked it on release but, as I said before, I'm from the UK and Ed Sheeran is like the most inescapable person ever here. It was nice for like a week but yeah I can't bear this song anymore #82 Lost In Your Light - Dua Lipa ft. Miguel Spoiler Not gonna lie, this is one of my least liked Dua Lipa songs. I think its only charting because I listened to it on release so much trying to make myself like it but I was pretty disappointed when it was released, especially with it being a Miguel collab. Probably one of the worse from her album. #81 Fetish - Selena Gomez ft. Miguel Spoiler This is one of Selena Gomez's most promising releases. A nice on trend trap influenced pop song that's a mature sound from her, further starting her transition into trying to become more mature. Although I do think everyone overhyped it to hell. #80 Love - Lana Del Rey Spoiler Classic Lana Del Rey. This song is nice but that's really all I think about it. I think there's much better songs on Lust For Life but I'm glad she released more songs before the album cause I don't think this could've done me over till release. #79 Liability - Lorde Spoiler One of Lorde's most beautiful songs. The only reason it isn't higher is because it's not the kind of song thats easy to play on repeat but it's truly a masterpiece. #78 Hymn - Kesha Spoiler I got really hyped for this song before release with hearing things about it being the second single etc. I was a bit let down on release cause I kinda thought it went nowhere but I appreciate it more now, its another proof of Kesha's immense growth as an artist. #77 rockstar - Post Malone ft. 21 Savage Spoiler A song that's en route to becoming one of, if not the, biggest streaming smashes of all time. And its hard not to see why. It's got the sound of hip-hop which feels so current right now while also having pop appeal and I honestly just think its a really easy song to listen to. #76 So Good - Zara Larsson ft. Ty Dolla Sign Spoiler I feel like so many of these songs I've been saying how I've been disappointed with them but yeah. This is also one of them. Zara had been serving European electropop bops leading up to the album then released a cheap R&B song with a rent-a-rapper. It killed my hype for the album a bit. It's another song that's this high cause I tried to make myself like it and it just didn't happen. #75 Run Up - Major Lazer ft. PartyNextDoor & Nicki Minaj Spoiler This song has PartyNextDoor written all over it (quite literally). It's such in the vein of him so you can tell its not just a quick feature. I also really liked Nicki's verse (although it's almost been a year since this song dropped and we're waiting for the album). #74 Crying In the Club - Camila Cabello Spoiler I thought this song was really fun when it came out, even although it sounded like a Sia song and not what I wanted from Camila Cabello's debut single. It's kinda forgettable months on and if she continues in Havana's success then this will definitely be looked on as a blip in her career. #73 Week Without You - Miley Cyrus Spoiler This is one of the best songs on Younger Now, if not the best. I think its such a nice song and when it was released as a promo single I wasn't expecting to love it so much. I'd 100% say to revisit the song a few months on if you haven't touched the album since. #72 Back To You - Louis Tomlinson ft. Bebe Rexha Spoiler This is easily the most uninspired 1D solo release so far. But that doesn't make it a bad song. Its a good pop song and Bebe Rexha's influence was really needed on it to bring it to life more. #71 Mayores - Becky G & Bad Bunny Spoiler If you haven't listened to this BOP listen now. Becky G truly snapped. Only discovered this song recently but it is so addictive and I hope she continues to serve Spanish bops now that she's found what works well for her. #70 Homesick - Dua Lipa Spoiler This is a single in the Netherlands & Belgium therefore it qualifies. This song is just absolutely beautiful. Chris Martin adds so much to it and in an album full of bangers this ballad is perfect, it makes me want to hear more ballads from her. It moves me so much and I don't know why. Upon first listen of the album this is the song that stuck out so much to me and my appreciation for it is immense.
Pedro Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Damn. So many good songs! I love Dua's "Homesick", Zara's "So Good", Camila's "Crying In The Club" and, tbh, almost all of this songs!
witness1.3 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 I feel the same way with Dua's Homesick, especially since I'm now living away from home because of college. Sometimes the lyrics just hit me extra hard Fetish, So Good, Week Without You, Love, Liability
