Pink Matter Posted December 23, 2017 Author Posted December 23, 2017 (edited) Top 100 Singles Singles 80-71 80) Post Malone|Rockstar (feat. 21 Savage) When it comes to trap music, I tend to steer clear of it because it all mostly sounds the same, and I don't enjoy the lyrical content much either. But every once in a while, a track like Rockstar pops up. Though the lyrical content isn't anything to write home about, I can usually ignore it due to the extremely catchy, and weirdly hypnotic production Post and 21 flow over. (Post ain't **** for his recent comments on current Hip-Hop music though. ) 79) Swae Lee|Unforgettable (feat. French Montana) This song just shows us we need a solo Swae Lee/Swaecation album ASAP . I love the hip-hop/dancehall infused production and Swae Lee harmonizes over it so smoothly, absolutely killing the hook like always. This made for one of my favorite singles to come out this summer. 78) Dua Lipa|Thinking 'Bout You So I'm going to be edgy and not pick New Rules for my Dua single like most others. But for good reason. TBY is one of the first few songs I heard by Ms. Lipa at the beginning of the year and it's stuck with me throughout these pat 12 months. It's simple and easy on the ears. It's short, sweet, and to the point. I think the fact that it's very R&B in nature is why I enjoy this more than her other songs. Lowkey gives me an early Alicia Keys vibe. She seems very natural singing it to me and it's easy for me to sing along to as well. An overall lovely song. (Rhythmic Dua>Pop Dua btw ) 77) Daniel Caesar|Get You (feat. Kali Uchis) The opening track to Daniel's most recent album Freudian, Get You is a song where Daniel is reflecting on a relationship with his significant other where he expresses how good it is to have them in his life. He feels lucky to have met someone who is bringing out feelings he never knew he could feel. I love the soul in his voice and I love how he extends certain words when he sings (the oohs in the chorus for instance). And Kali accompanying the song makes it all the better too! 76) Pond|Sweep Me Off My Feet A lovely trippy, psychedelic rock song. Gives me all the vibes I need. One of the standouts on their recent album. If you're a fan of Tame Impala's Currents, then this'll be right up your alley (considering Kevin Parker produced this song and the album it comes from too). 75) ZAYN|Dusk Till Dawn (feat. Sia) Here we have the second ex-1D member (and the best one hihi ) to make it on my list. Dusk Till Dawn shows us Zayn knows how to incorporate (what I like to call) the PBR&Pop sound from his debut with a slightly more commerical/Sia-esque sound to create a killer power-pop ballad. His voice is as strong as ever and Sia's voice blends well with his. 74) Miguel|Told You So Being honest, I was losing hope that War & Leisure would be good because all of the songs he released before the album weren't living up to the high standards I had for him. Until he released this. Told You So is electric, vibrant, funky, and just an all around pleasure to listen to. The production is the obvious highlight but his vocal performance matches up just as well. 73) Slowdive|Sugar for the Pill Being honest, Slowdive's album was a tough listen to get through. For an album with only 8 tracks it seems to go on forever. But when it comes to Suga for the Pill, I wish it went on longer than it does. This song is probably my favorite song on the album. I love the dreamy production and I love getting lost in the song when I listen to it. 72) Fifth Harmony|Deliver Okay, so say what you want but this song goes off. A total R&B/Pop jam and the best song from their recent album. I'm not sure how they sounded on their previous albums, but to me, they sounded extremely confident and sure of themselves here, which makes me think they should go in this direction in the future (if they last another album at least). This deserved to be a 12-week #1 smasha and it's criminal how it wasn't. 71) Dirty Projectors|Little Bubble One of the very first singles I listened to at the beginning of the year, this was one of my top singles at the time. I never quite got the complaints with the song back when it was released. I like how the production is pretty sparse at certain points (which helps the vocals stand out well) and love how "bubbly" it is other points. Edited December 24, 2017 by Pink Matter

World Eater Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Nothing from War & Leisure really impressed me if I'm being honest, even Told You So Sugah, Little Bubble and Dusk Till Dawn (even though it was a biT generic) are really good tho Would it be a biggie if you stop tagging me though? I'm one of those people who visit the Best Of section daily, I'll definitely leave a comment if I see you post an update

Love Drought Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Love these, especially Daniel Caesar's Get You, it's such a great R&B track. The smooth and romantic production combined with his voice is just beautiful. Unforgettable is such a bop, Swae Lee needs to hurry up with Swaecation I also agree that Dua sounds better on R&B/Pop songs than on a pure Pop production. Told You So is definitely a highlight on War and Leisure even though I didn't really enjoy it at first. Pond's Sweep Me Off My Feet is great too you can definitely hear the Tame Impala influence from Currents. Dusk Till Dawn is okay but I feel like the songs he has been releasing since his debut came out have been disappointing, but I'm rooting for him to come through
Lucas32 Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 I'm not here for the trap trend for the most part but Rockstar was nice on the radio. Miguel, Dust til dawn and Slowdive

And his voice just has a hint of soulfulness to it too. Agree with Dua although I do think there are certain songs like Genesis and Lost In Your Light that really suit her voice too. I really think that's the direction she should go in for the future. And Dusk was a bit on the generic side but since he needs to get those hits for RCA I don't mind it too much. I do think he'll save the best tracks for his album. He's been working with Malay again and even enlisted Timbo to do some production too 1 minute ago, Lucas32 said: I'm not here for the trap trend for the most part but Rockstar was nice on the radio.
